    Buying a used 3ph motor.

just my experience working in industrial plants since i got out of the navy. rarely ever had to replace bearings because people let them go so long they toast the motor insulation while they overwork for months on end. but yeah, you could easily replace bearings.

    Buying a used 3ph motor.

open the peckerhead, take a whiff. burned is burned. make sure the wires aren't stiff like theyve been overheated. take a meter and ohm out phase to phase and phase (L1 to L2, L1 to L3, L2 to L3), they should be equal. also check phase to case ground and make sure it's completely open. you...

    Score another one!

i've been waiting for something like this to come up, and sure enough it did. Panasonic gunslinger 260 welder was sent off to be scrapped at work, so i saved it for scrap price (40 bucks since scrap prices doubled and its so damn heavy). Took a pic right after testing and verifying it worked...

    Inexpensive tig welder

that sounds like bullshiite considering the alpha machines are superior to the everlast machines even when you get into the more expensive everlast machines. just because the person who owns everlast owns ahp doesn't mean that the two are made in the same factory or anything. multiple different...

    Geared head drill press: advantage?

gear is going to be louder, but not by much. i kinda prefer to hear the gears whirring, vs the whisp of a belt/motor setup yeah, just sounds as i hear them.

    Geared head drill press: advantage?

yeah or not. i've had it bend shanks on bits when they grab with larger bits like 7/8" and up. never broke the gears, the motor OL or fuses are more likely to blow than the gears to break if it stops dead, after bending/breaking bits of course...
