New workshop in the uk. Woop woop!!!

You could use JB Weld to fix the coolant tank. It is a 2 part epoxy with imbedded metal and works great. I don't know if it is available in the UK though.

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

Chris, I only did the SS thing to pull your chains. My retirement is in the bank except for a small bit I get from working for Control Data. Fortunately I had my own business for 20 years and took care of my own retirement. SS would be OK if the stupid government hadn't borrowed from it to...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

"Old enough" I represent that-only kidding-will be 74 tomorrow. Some tidbits from the 50's. Worked in a gas station at 15. Can't do that anymore. Remember the guy in the body shop melting lead on the body panels. Also putting new linings on old brake shoes with a little rivit press. No...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

Boy-talk about memories! I remember pumping Quaker State out of those things when I was a grease monkey in the 50's. I joined the Army reserves in 1953. I then went to hydramatic school through the reserves in Brooklyn and promptly got a job working the transmission rack at a Pontiac dealer...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Restored 1930's Auto Shop

Shawn I've heard and seen pictures of those twin post lifts but never used one. It seems a little dangerous as you pointed out. When a hydraulic lift slams up the last few inches like that, I believe is from air trapped in the fluid side which needs to be bled out. :headscrat It's pretty hard...

Best way to remove paint from concrete

My garage floor is painted (two coats of different paint-I think) and was not prepped prior to painting. I don't know what kind of paint was used but it scratches easily. However when I try to grind it off I wind up with a gooey mess. If anyone has a good idea as to how to get this stuff...

NEW guy help strip old painted floor HOW?

I just finished this and I rented a floor grinder that had 4 carbide pads on it. It also had the ability to use water while grinding. The pads were quite used and therefore did an OK job but I think it would have turned out better if I had known better and asked for new pads when I rented the...

    4 inch's vinal molding

HD sells the 4" vinyl base molding you are looking for at about $69 for 120'. Different colors too! They also have it in 20' rolls at about $19 and there is very thin stuff in 3' sections. The 120' rolls are 1/8" thick if I remember.

    H&C Silicone Acrylic Concrete Sealer

I had thought I would have to go with VCT because of the paint which was (and still is partially) on the floor. It now looks like I will be able to remove it and I wanted to know if anyone has used this product (H&C Silicone Acrylic Concrete Sealer). If so, please give me your opinion and...

    Non-skid floor wax on VCT!

I just decided (finally) to go with VCT in my garage/shop. What I wanted to know is if anyone has used one of the various non-skid floor wax products that are available on the internet or somewhere else and how they work on a wet floor. Being an old fart, I am concerned about the VCT being...

new guy with questions about floor.

Having finished painting the inside of the house, the DW now wants the garage done. My problem is the previous owner painted the floor with polyuretane enamel. The floor is quite smooth (good trowel job) and the paint comes off rather easily (scraping with razor knife and hot tires). I have...
