    Anyone Looking for Quick Project

I thought about hand bending after looking at the bent rod solution. I couldn't think of a good way to attach rods together without a welder or without using a ton of extra stock.

    Anyone Looking for Quick Project

Good point. I created this account many years ago and didn't realize there were no details. My apologies. I wasn't dismissing the community and apologize if it came across that way. I am in Minneapolis, MN (a city twerp). Also, there was a member that, offered to see what they had in their...

    Anyone Looking for Quick Project

Alright. I'll go elsewhere to get it done. Work does a lot of stuff with Weldkraft so I'll call them. I was hoping to catch a forum member that likes to do little things in their garage on the weekends.

    Anyone Looking for Quick Project

All good suggestions. I was thinking the narrow bottom bends could be a single radius rather than two right angle bends. Which would make it a total of 2 bends per piece and, in my mind, was doable without a full press. Then again, other than working in a machine shop a few summers during...

Do they make air fittings that don't leak?

I don't like pipe threads for this application either. I tend towards Swagelok compression fittings to eliminate the need to machine or cut threads. Swagelok is great ... 1 1/4 turns and you'll have zero leaks.

The sides are open for the dell laptop cooling vents. The MacBook vents are built into the hinge on the long edge. That's a good question, but cooling has been considered with this design.

    Anyone Looking for Quick Project

I am re-arranging my desk at home since I'm getting back into audio production and need to make room for studio monitors. I'm very frustrated I can't find a laptop hanger to do what I want. I have looked everywhere. Is anyone interested in making two of these bent metal parts? I'm not looking...

Do they make air fittings that don't leak?

They aren't cheap, but these are the best leak-free fittings I've come across. https://www.swagelok.com/en/product

    Butane soldering kits recommendations

This kit any day of the week: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WOHSHM/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I used to carry 2 with me on every job site. One that permanently had a soldering tip and the other had the hot air tip for heat shrink. The electronic ignition is great and FAR better than the Portasol in...

    Ideas on best wifi setup...

In my opinion, the best (not crazy overkill) wifi setup would be Ruckus Wireless. You should be able to get by with a single R510. I'd add H510's or a second R510 if you have dead spots. Ruckus Unleashed will allow the access points to work together to force client handoffs and apply band...

Garage Internet Question, need both wifi and LAN output from access point f

Remember to install UniFi on an always-on always-wired computer. Ubiquiti is great and UniFi has some cool tricks and features, but, in my opinion, the complications aren't worth it for a single access point.

Enclosures for electric or electronic projects

I mostly use polycase or Hammond extruded cases for 1-off or proof-of-concept work. Digikey is your friend

Garage Internet Question, need both wifi and LAN output from access point f

If no wire present use this (simple, cheap, fast, robust): https://mikrotik.com/product/wireless_wire If you have wire there, you're fine with a switch + wireless access point. I wouldn't use a second router. Much better to get gear suited solely to the tasks you need to perform. There are also...

Circular Saw rip fences / guides

Any good tips on crimping non through hole cat6 adapters

This covers it. The only other "trick" is to make sure to use a decent flush cutter when making the final 90 degree cut to length. Then don't let go and keep pressure into the end until it's crimped. It takes practice. Also, make sure the Cat6 ends are quality. Some are actually Cat5 ends...

German made tools and US prices.

Because you tried to get them to price match with an online source that is outside of the US. Mister Worker is not a US online competitor, yet KC Tool took the time to review and see if they could match it. They couldn't and don't need to as it's outside of their policy. I remember years ago...

    Tape measure rant

Stanley Powerlock 25' has been my go-to for a long time. A friend sent me this picture the other day and now I may give it a second thought when I need to buy another one.

What are my options for shutting individual lights off on same circuit

They are fan and light controllers. Ignore the fan load hookup and just use the light control side. This will give you individual light control. That is, of course, if getting new wires to the lights is not possible.
