Rollaway mechanics work station with winch

I left that fabrication shop in 2016 and kept moving up the ladder within the trade. I had my 302ci engine block decked/honed and prepped for a stroker kit while I was still there. I put all the internal engine parts in the box and the block on the aluminum top and strapped it down. I threw the...

    Brand new - redo

The stroller kit front wheel was originally a swivel. The spindle was bent to the point that it was not functional. I did not change the functionality of the stroller, I only re-engineered it to be stronger. Notice the spindle was reused from the original spinning design.

    Brand new - redo

My jogging stroller has a 10" pneumatic tire in front on a ball bearing Rio degree swivel. The swivel has a lock to keep the wheel steady at high speeds, otherwise it is correct that the wheel would wobble and cause a wreck. However, remember that this is a bike trailer and not for jogging. If...

    Brand new - redo

The idea here was the whole thing cost me $40. I wasn't going to get anything better for the money. So I made it what I wanted without spending any more. I've done this with my lawn mower as well.

    Brand new - redo

Nowadays things are made with poor quality or an obveous design flaw. I want to see the projects that right out of the box you said "awe, now THAT has to change". Rather than taking it back to the store, you MAKE IT BETTER than new. For example: I got a bicycle trailer to take my kids on the...

Needed a more solid platform to place heavy items or use as a workstation. Added this piece of aluminum diamond plate. For normal use the diamonds are up. For detailed work the flat side is up.

Question for Harley guys ammo saddle bags

Thinking about welding studs (1/4" Id x 1/4" length) onto the side of the ammo cans. (As well as more reinforced brackets). The brackets I make for the bike will have holes. That way the studs on the can will fit into the holes on the bike to line everything up and hold them so they dont move in...

Question for Harley guys ammo saddle bags

I've already had the rear axle nut fly off the bike going 80mph. (look it up the breakout has no clevis pin like any other model does) I didn't notice until we stopped and my buddy asked what almost hit him in the face. The front brake lever broke within the relay and had to be replaced. The...

Question for Harley guys ammo saddle bags

Maybe they just don't like me at the dealer. I asked if there was an exploded parts diagram or similar so I could order them. For $80 I can get the black metal locking pieces and swap one out with the backrest so they both have one lock. The price of the metal locks are more than I've spent to...

Question for Harley guys ammo saddle bags

my question here is about mounting hardware for Harley davidsons. I have the quick release hardware on my breakout for the wife's rear seat backrest. It has two plastic cam locks that click in to my sideplates. I'm going to make my own brackets to slide onto the front pegs, and hold my AMMO...

    Show us your welding projects

Custom frame for tool chests. Over 6' long. Now I need to buy the tires, motor, outriggers and other components before I weld the risers and roll bar. I already cut the top of the roll bar to fit the 52" LED light bars.

High bay metal halide to LED retrofit

There are a lot of 400w halides in the shop. They are lower and placed closer together. Plus there is plenty of ambient light from other sources. My main concern is the big bay with only 8 lights where there are more shadows and the lights are 30' up.

High bay metal halide to LED retrofit

I tested a JGL lift last week to purchase for this reason. Changed a few halide bulbs and the 150W LED that has been in for 2 years because the driver gave out. The old one was sent back for warranty. There are no Windows in the shop and often has smoke from welding so the more light the...

High bay metal halide to LED retrofit

The fixtures are open with plenty of air flow. The 250w led retrofit i was looking at was $500 and it had a built in cooling fan. There are eight high bay fixtures in total. Aluminum cans surrounding the single halide (or led). What I'm getting is that a full new LED panel fixture should be...

Cornwell bit set; what color stainless

Here is the finished color. I'm very happy with it in person, though the camera does not capture the true color, fade, or glare.

Cornwell bit set; what color stainless

Ha ha. I don't have streaming to watch videos. I had a particular image in my head from when we built a race car. We made the dash out of "brushed aluminum" that was done by a machine. The piece was 4' wide but was so perfectly done. I ended up powder coating the piece "smoke black". I saved the...

Cornwell bit set; what color stainless

I had this aluminum case with bits from the cornwell guy. The plastic window broje and I don't want my bits falling out. So I cut some stainless to replace it. Thinking about powder coating the new metal piece blue or black. I think black will match well, blue may be off color. how do I get...
