    Re: Ajax 5hp electric motor?

Thanks for all the replies. I looked at the tag and it has ball bearings. I am still getting it wired and plumbed so what little I have run it, it sounds pretty smooth and the shaft is tight. I may pull it apart and take a peek, otherwise I’ll run it and keep an eye and ear on it.

    Good Bluetooth Ear Muffs

3M Worktunes with Bluetooth. The music isn't blaring loud but enough to hear well while running equipment. Best deal I found is Northern Tool for $79 plus the $10 off $50 coupon.

    Sears Compressor Advice

A buddy's dad was going to pitch this compressor because the pump pulley was wobbling causing the belt to jump. After cleaning it up the pulley looks fine but the keyway on the crank end is boogered up pretty good. Otherwise it's pretty solid. It's a Sears 4hp, 220v, model 106.174840. I...

I like. How about a pic of the tractor? Ford? Just remember to have plenty of tongue weight if you pulling a load as three points don't have down force.

    Backfill for pole barn posts???

Apples and oranges. Yes gravel is good for drainage but what about when the water has no where to go, like in a hole, it will collect. For wood to rot you need water and air. Gravel is good at providing both because of all of the voids. I built a 50x72 about two years ago. Talked with many...

    Backfill for pole barn posts???

Dig a hole and fill it with gravel. It will hold water. Dig a hole and fill it with compacted soil and it will not. Someone posted this a while back. Good info. http://www.pole-barn.info/post-foundation-embedment.html

    Old grinding stones

I am having trouble finding 7" wheels. Zoro has them but after ordering I got notice they are out of stock. No luck at any of the usual interweb places either. I am not feeling good about using these. Any suggestions appreciated.

    Got a Spray Foam Estimate

I was told the same regarding foam voiding the metal warranty by a couple builders including the local Morton builder. Another builder suggested using a building wrap on the backside of the metal in hopes it would not contact the metal. I got the impression they had not done that before.

let's see your craftsman block grinders

Found this one on CL yesterday and picked it up on the way home from work - 1/2 hp commercial crown top 7in with stand. Shows little signs of use but it's crusty from sitting in a garage for years.

    Basement utility sink draining problems

Does the washer drain into the sink basin? If not your problem could be further down the line like a tree root. If the sink is the lowest drain in the house it will back up first.

    What is THE best degreaser?

Another vote for Oil Eater but it can leave an oxidized looking residue on aluminum. For the engine compartment I like to use Dow Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. It's safe for metal, plastic etc. Spray, let it sit for a few minutes, then hose it off. Repeat if necessary. Don't do it...
