Interested in 3D Printing - Recommendations and Hype vs. Reality

Thanks for all the responses so far...keep 'em coming! Truth be told, I really don't need much convincing to pull the trigger, and it looks like Bambu Lab has the early lead. Follow-up question: Do they generally come with the filament feeder assembly on top of the printer, or is that sold...

Interested in 3D Printing - Recommendations and Hype vs. Reality

Hello folks, My primary hobby is classic car restoration, and I recently spent three weeks hunting down, and paying an unreasonable amount for, an obsolete instrument panel bezel. This got me to thinking about 3D printers and printing. A few years back I did some basic research on the subject...

    Sewer Snake

OP clearly stated it was NOT a root intrusion. I'll bet it has something to do with flushable (not!) wipes.

    Klein D2000 - Blade Damage

Exactly - whatever it takes to get the job done. Back in the day with Pacific Bell we called that 'needs of the service'.

2026 jackshaft door opener vs conventional

Are you referring to MyQ? It's not the greatest system but I've had it for around nine years and I've never paid a monthly subscription.

Backyard shelter house instead of auxiliary garage. Dumb idea?

I'll only say this: Don't give up on the dream.

    Shopvac hose adapter

All of my wet/dry vacuums use similar connections, with the same style of adapter, and they work fine. The ends have a taper which make for a snug fit. It's Amazon - buy it, try it, and if it doesn't work for you, send it back and get a refund.

Suggestions for Replacement Mesh WiFi Router System

***UPDATE*** I installed the Eero system today, and so far (compared to the old Nest system) the performance is nothing short of spectacular. Let's see how it does over the next two weeks. Interesting to note that I'm getting the same coverage - or better - than my old Nest five-node system...

Thanks to everyone who replied. I pulled the trigger on a Eero 7 system. I hope to have it installed by the weekend.

Anybody know what this cast iron work bench is made for?

Sure looks like a lathe stand to me.

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

^^^Exactly^^^ It really is this simple. No offense intended, but from here it appears that the OP is overthinking this issue.

Suggestions for Replacement Mesh WiFi Router System

I'm eliminating the Unifi because, although it appears to be a great system with infinite options, I'm past my geek-out days with Internet devices. I'm more of a plug-and-play guy now; I'd rather spend hours in the garage with my cars, rather than fiddling with my tech devices. I just read...

Suggestions for Replacement Mesh WiFi Router System

Hello folks, I'm fed up with my three-year-old Google Nest AC2200 Wifi mesh system. I have four nodes spread throughout the house, and one or more of them will drop out for a few minutes, or a few hours, on a daily basis. I'm convinced that it has something to do with flawed hardware/software...

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

Keep in mind that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. What works for me may be antithetical to others. And a high level of organization does not necessarily reflect a superior skill set. I couldn't stand to work in my radiator guy's shop - it's a friggin disaster zone - but he's the...

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

This is similar to how my garage/shop is laid out, but on a much smaller scale, lol! I only have four vises and three work benches.

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

All tools get put away every night, whenever possible. Period. Fasteners/hardware/parts labelled and/or bagged at work area. Admittedly I am retired and usually have the luxury of time.
