Help me out on this grinder situation.

The nut on the right-hand side is a right-hand thread, and the one on the left-hand side is a left hand thread. That way, the shaft's normal rotation tends to keep both nuts from loosening. If you put wrenches on both nuts at the same time, you can loosen either one, since the nut on the...

Welding the Inside of an Acute Angle?

Here's part of a gantry crane. Are there welds in the crotches between the braces and the main upright, or are they not necessary? If they are welded, how is it done? Stick? OA torch? It doesn't look like a MIG or TIG torch would fit in there. Thanks. -Chris

    Metal-cutting circular blades

Thanks for the clarification, jrlp — I stand corrected. I've heard nothing but good things about that Milwaukee saw, and it is now at the top of my wish list. I noticed on the Milwaukee website that the factory-supplied blade is not tungsten-carbide tipped, but rather cermet-tipped, and...

    Metal-cutting circular blades

Regarding whether these blades are limited to cutting thin metals, I'd suggest taking a look at Jim Shaper's 2008 thread on building a welding table in the PM Fabrication forum here: http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/fabrication-cnc-laser-waterjet-plasma-welding-fab/welding-tables-163865/...
