Sorry, tried to take a shot of bow in header... just ended up dropping level on my noggin and dropping phone! :) ...and yes, that's a 150" projector screen above the door.

Off topic 16ft garage door header bows outward in middle

I have Yeah, I checked with a string since my biggeststraightedge was only 9 ft. I even installed a heavy duty strut on the door to help stiffen it to see of it would help. Definitely the header.

Off topic 16ft garage door header bows outward in middle

Hey all, I have a literal garage question today! LOL while doing my reno, ditra, and tile... I noticed that the top header on my 16 ft garage door is bowed outward enough that light shines between the rubber seal and the door at the middle. I checked the door and it is dead straight. The bow is...

    Vintage Craftsman Table Saw Thread

I think those are the correct wings for the 8". The 10" had diagonal bracing AFAIK. Maybe someone is more knowledgeable here can confirm. My 10" had a homemade extension wing on one side and the standard craftsman on the other. Someone spent a LOT of time welding that puppy up!

    Vintage Craftsman Table Saw Thread

I've been sitting on a craftsman 100 (113.29992) restore for about 2 years. Looking forward to starting in 2021. The saw I bought was used continuously since birth and is still all there and in really good shape. I even got the O.G. stand and an extra set of cross-rails/supports and hold down...

Horrific new slab pour, PROPER corrective action advise needed!

I feel the same way. Hope this hot mess gets resolved. That load should never have been poured. It was already curing. Not to mention zero float and trowel work. Hope the legal system does its job for you.

Here in the Midwest, prices are still high at the big box stores. Looking forward to seeing prices start to normalize.

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

Man, that *****! Is that the norm for construction in your area? The old man's shop (passed away about 11 years ago) has just over 9' and I thought that was low. He built the garage for bodywork back in the late 60's. I'm having to face relocating my mom to a less rural area now as she's...

What are the best small totes that are sturdy enough to hold heavy tools and parts?

Re: What are the best small totes that are a=sturdy enough to hold heavy tools and pa The home depot ones that are black with yellow lids are pretty solid, but expensive

How do I remove Harbor Freight Chipper/Shredder Rotary Disc?

I vote press fit. Usually, you'd pull the whole shaft and use press plates or a bearing splitter... if this were a transmission. If there isn't a set screw in the hole, you can bet it is pressed on. Soak it with penetrating lube and try your puller again tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing man! I had a friend that used to do batches of wine. Never got to see his fermenting setup. Brewing is a lot more intensive (but also more rewarding, lol). My wife would kill me if I suddenly announced I was going to start brewing my own lager... :-)

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

@ducksface, that's almost exactly what I'd build with just 1 roll up and a side door that has a real sill. Neighbor's is 6', but I'd go 7' to avoid knocking myself out getting through the door. I'm going to try to convince them that since I'm a competent carpenter (and car painter), that I can...

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

I'll post some pictures tonight. Table and band saws + jointer are already in storage unit... so it is going to look much less cluttered than it actually is. List of tools biggest woodworking tools: 1.) 60's Emerson craftsman 10" 3hp table saw with wings on OG stand with casters. 2.) ryobi...

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

LOL, our HOA is truly dumb. It took 6 months to get approval for vinyl-coated chain-link when all 3 of our neighbors have it. I submitted plot map, plans, etc. to find out that it could only be done by a contractor and not the homeowner. We were replacing a decorative wood fence that was...

Ralf11, very rarely used for parking. The only time a car is in would be a project like an engine swap. Otherwise, the cars I have up here in Indy are beaters and daily drivers. All of the toys (nothing special, just Auto-X car and my 1st gen S-10) are parked in the shop. I don't do...

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

Copymutt, I hear you man! I miss the big shop with actual ROOMS. The shed seems to be the suggestion to listen to, I'm pretty much set for woodworking tools (and they're all portable except the old craftman/emerson saw... which has casters and a 1960's stand). It doesn't take up much room...

storage strategies for woodworking, auto maintenance, and man cave in same garage

The storage shed has been on the 'to-do' list for about a year. The reason it stays there is stupid HOA approval required. Perhaps it's time to bite the bullet and make it happen. I'm probably the only resident of the neighborhood without one at this point... gotta keep up with the Joneses :-P
