Packing and Moving the Contents of Your Garage

I did buy a trailer for my last move. I strongly suggest palletizing as much as you can and get/rent/buy a pallet jack. It does come in handy to move incredibly heavy objects easily. I did, however, only move my shop. (Lift, lathe, tools, more tools, spare engines, parts, more tools, pallet...

    Question for Rotary SPOA9 Owners

Have you priced a new one? If I recall correctly, a SPOA9 is a 9,000lb lift. I'm not sure, but I don't think my Rotary lift was much more than that when it was new. (and it was installed) If it is installed per spec, it should lift 9,000lbs. I agree very long vehicles are probably handled...

    Building garage cabinets

    1. The 2x6's.. They are actually 2x4's with a 1x2 covering the faces. They are screwed (toe nailed) into the 2x4 base board under the plywood. I preferred to use screws as they were available and they allowed me to remove them if one happened to move out of place. 2. The shelves on a few...

    jib crane? concrete requirements?

Depending on which one you end up with, contact the manufacturer. They will have the foundation specs that the jib crane requires. Those take HUGE footers in order to be safe. It's the uplift caused by the cantilevered load, not the compressive strength of the concrete. Good luck!

    2-post lift floor anchor ??

I prefer epoxy anchors in concrete. That is what I used on my Rotary 2-post lift. I did get to 150lb-ft with my clicker torque wrench and it was a large PITA getting grip on my epoxy coated floor. I would not suggest lock washers on an anchor bolt unless that is specifically a part of the...

Checking Interest in a Used Lift Sale

Thanks! We would send someone up to Chicago to pick it up with a trailer, and we would be doing the installation. I should be able to get the documentation direct from Rotary as far as concrete requirements go.

Concrete Pour - 6300 Square Feet

My driveway was over 7200ft^2. The contractor did it in approximately 5 pours, but I did have a trench/drain installed across the entire length of the shop (one of the better ideas that I had).

Checking Interest in a Used Lift Sale

When would this take place? I think I would be interested in a SPO9 or SPO10 in Chicago. My dad could pick this up with the car trailer. He's only about an hour from Chicago. How would these get loaded onto our trailers? I moved my SPO7 myself, but I know the SPO9's are a bit beefier (that...

instant paint booth. My first wordless workshop

if the motor is in the exhaust stream, it should be. if you have a fan in the exhaust stream (belt driven), it should be spark resistant. You should look for 100+ ft per minute at the filter bank. Furnace filters work well. I use 16x25. My "booth" is a little larger, but I can spray larger...

Small Parker Vise No. 123 1/2

I have one exactly the same model that was from my grandfather. Yours is in better shape, but it still beats the HELL out of the cheap **** one can buy at Harbor Freight. I'm going to clean mine up and mount it so I can use it. Thanks for posting as it made me look at mine to be sure it was...

    gun safe questions

I respectfully disagree. Get a quality safe. Do your own real research instead of the opinions of those who have only bought one or two safes. Whatever you decide, it's probably good to go on the large side and anchor your safe down. just my $0.02 (Your Mileage May Vary)...

H F CASTERS I ordered a few, maybe should haves searched first. Opinions Please.

Casters on a pallet rack? It's a bit early for "April Fools", but then again, I didn't check the dates of the posts. For casters that I would mount on either a heavy steel table or something heavy like pallet racking (you must be kidding), look at Faultless Caster. They sell real-deal...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Re: A great place to get bad news... EXCELLENT! What we have here is a pre event tech inspection. The kind all should go through prior to taking one's car onto the track. Been doing it for 25+ years now and have replaced many "questionable" components that "maybe could have lasted but were...

Now that is what I eventually want to do with my PLANO bins. Right now, I have them in file cabinets which is less than desirable.

    Rotary SPO9 ?

I use a Rotary SPOA7. I have a PDF of the SPOA9 manual, but I can't post a PDF. If you contact Rotary, they could send you a manual, or if you PM me your e-mail, I could send you one. I moved my lift with me. They are easy to set up, but you need a decent anchor hammer drill. I wouldn't...

How to Beef Up an I-Beam?

What are you planning? Are you planning on this beam to remain a Jib Crane or will it become a fixed monorail? Jib cranes typically pivot about the support column. Are you extending this beam 11'? If you let us know what you are planning, it would be easier for the couch quarterbacks here...

    First-Time Homebuyer's Garage 16x29

Holy cow! What a transformation. I should really stop complaining and start doing. You have made great progress and made a nice place out of what I could not see in the beginning. Kudos to you! I hope to be as motivated to complete my own garage space. My problem is that I started working...

    Favorite spray lubricant

The OP asked about "spray lube". My favorite spray lube has to be "Clark Innerslide Lubricant". It's meant to lubricate the inner slides on fork truck masts and contains lots of Moly and sticks. It's tough to clean off, but isn't any good lube supposed to stay in place? As far as penetrating...
