Looking for a quality benchtop mill

Id try and find a Millrite mill if you want something of quality. I bought one several years ago and it doesn't take as much space as you think, especially if placed in a corner. It's like 2/3 the size of a standard Bridgeport. Fantastic little machine. I run mine of a VFD so I could use the...

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

Currently set to expire in 2028. Can't come soon enough. The core technology for the motion-activated gyroscopic screwdriver is protected under U.S. Patent No. 8,286,723 and U.S. Patent No. 8,418,778. Titled "Power screwdriver having rotary input control," these patents were filed by Black &...

New Pole shed with cement and good garage door, mouse proof?

I once watched a mouse squeeze through a hole in the ceiling my old house, the hole was drilled for a speaker wire for surround sound. Probably less than 1/4" hole with wire passing through it. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. After that I pretty much stopped trying to keep...

How hard to drill a 1/4 inch hole in 11 gauge steel? Can you do it by hand?

If it's mild steel, it's not hard to hand drill at all, really quite easy. First thing you'll want to do is center punch where you want the hole. Since you have no experience doing it, you could pilot it with a 1/8" drill to make it easier for you. Then follow up with the 1/4" drill. I...

    Wet/Vapor/Blast Machine's

If you plan to leave your slurry mix in the cabinet when not in use, use stainless. If you want to go through the hassle of cleaning it out every time you use it, you can get away with using plain steel and coating it. Also, I would look into a centrifugal pump vs using the standard diaphragm...

High Pressure air compressor- buyer options ?

We use SMC booster air amplifiers on a lot of our equipment we make, not sure how many CFM they can provide however, might be worth a look and be a lot cheaper than a specialized compressor.

    Aluminum 3D printing

That's all this was ever intended to be, a side business to support my hobby and pay for some home improvements. I have to much to lose risking leaving my "real" career to pursue this full time. I have a family to support, if I was younger it might be different. It's been discussed, my son is...

    Aluminum 3D printing

It's not a copy, it my own design that performs the same function as the original while being stronger and looking better. I'm 100% sure there is no one reading this thread that is a buyer for my product, so what it is, is irrelevant. I talked with a patent attorney when I started this...

    Aluminum 3D printing

No disrespect intended, and I'm just as shocked as anyone that the design hasn't been copied yet, I'm not going to advertise what it is at this point. The point of this thread was to seek out if anyone had personal experiences with having additive manufacturing done by the cheapish companies...

    Aluminum 3D printing

It's somewhat difficult to predict the future demand. I've sold over a 1000 sets in the 6 years I have been making them. I initially thought I would be lucky to sell 50 sets, lol. Once I hit 50 sets I invested and bought an older industrial CNC VMC so I could speed up production and have...

    Aluminum 3D printing

You are correct on both accounts. I just hate to leave money on the table The product is good, innovative and does have a demand for sure. It was an extremely rewarding experience to develop the product and figure out all the details, however after 6 years of doing "production" I am burnt...

    Building a buggy: nobggrnchvy

Great looking project! Quick question, do you worry about mud and dirt getting into the braided loom that you used on your harness? Seems like that could be a recipe for failures down the road with grit getting into the wire bundles and chaffing the insulation away over time.

    Aluminum 3D printing

Thanks for the feedback guys! Stateside manufacturing is almost guaranteed to cost more than I can sell my product for in the market I am in unfortunately. The only way I have been able to make money is by doing it all myself with virtually no overhead. I have had a couple machine shops...

    Aluminum 3D printing

Curious if anyone here has used any of the numerous Chinese additive manufacturing sources to have parts printed. I'm mainly interested in aluminum or possibly stainless steel. 6 years ago I came up with a product that I manufacture in my home shop on a 3 axis CNC. I cannot keep up with the...
