Hi All, Newby here, Sure would appreciate your input on this one. I couldn't find what I was looking for, needed one that would provide a positive grip minimizing slippage... so I figured I'd make one. Its a ratcheting adjustable.
thought that maybe I'd make a go of it.

Your thoughts?

Cheers

1st off that's pretty cool.
2nd you should post it here in this "open end ratchet wrench" thread:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249850

3rd you need to explain just how in hell you made that sucker.

4th Welcome to the forum! Anyone who posts a photo on their 1st post is great to have aboard and a photo of something that unique, even more so! Thanks!

Oooh I love that 18" crestology!
Thank you! That one, the sk Wayne and 9" diamond were all my grandpa's. I wish the finish was in better shape on it. I have a few others that belonged to him but they're mostly no names made in China. I do have some nice 4" adjustables that I haven't tracked down yet.

By chance i took a pic of my adjustables before going off on holiday

hxJLB08l.jpg

In no particular order: Snap-on FAD12 12" flank drive, a couple of Gedore, Spanish made comfort grip Bahco, french made Facom, two Zubi-ondo (made in spain), 14" Norwegian Kongsberg (only one i have ever seen) a tiny made in USA Ridgid and a nice old British made Garrington magpie.

Pipe wrenches there too, another Garrington forge product, (from 1911 apparently) and a Palmera.

Also got a few others not pictured, older Swedish Bahco and a random 'foreign' marked hazet (probably Indian made)

Need to find a better way of storing them, going to make up some holders i think.

i think most Bahco adjustables are made in Spain now, not sure if its their own factory or by Irega or another Spanish tool company (all Snap-on owned anyway....) there are a few places which stock Bahco tools near me, will have a look next time im there

Howdy Ratchet. I have a Bahco made in Spain (8inch I think with the serrated rear fork) that is my favorite. I have no problem with it or it's origin. I am interested in it's big brother. I seem to recall a recent thread where it had moved from Spain? I could not find it on a search......but I will look again.

Hey is it just me.....or is the idea of a round end (Nepros) appealing to older hands?

Edit: Amazon lists the 87 COO as China.......sigh.

Here's my collection of Penncraft adjustables. Oddly, I've found the uncommon 15" and 4" already, had the 10" for many years, but no luck with the 12" and 6".

Why the pix of the non-adjustables, you ask? I got all that as a lot at an estate sale for $10. I made the offer, and the clerk groused that the "Crescent" wrench was worth more than that alone. I replied "Yes, it sure cost more than that new," and smiled and waited, cash in hand. She blinked.
I don't like DBE's so I put the set on fleaBay and netted $12 after fees.
So, the nice 12" Proto was free! And I got the little Proto flat wrenches as a bonus.

These are from my box in the farm shop and I have others in my pole barn shop. The 15" Plymouth gets used a lot on the farm and the two Protos probably have the smoothest action.

The one with the rubberized handle I have no idea where it even came from or what brand it is. I have had it for years and I suspect it came out of one of the trucks I flipped...its an el cheapo but works just fine for light work.

I am pretty sure the rubber grip adjustable is a Stanley because I have one that looks very similar. Works just fine in my world.

My gf, bless her heart, happened to have a 12" Snap-On wrench. Asked her where she got, landlord gave it to her to fix leaky pipe!!

I traded her my HF wrench and told her it would do the exact same thing!

Was I wrong? LOL

If the landlord would give away a 12" Snappy, I would find him and offer him some more "deals".
