Stas great you have your own thread; easier to communicate. We have fenced communities here in the U.S. but only for those who want to keep the old junk we call treasure out of sight. So those who live in one have to work without being too visible. Life is what you make it and as you know here on GJ we all make it in many different ways!
THX!

Citrus acid, a good trick for that purpose. I've not seen that used before so thanks for explaining the process. I learned a new way to do this repair by reading here. This is why we all love GJ.
Glad you learned something new for you

I'd not read the name Emelya before, and I'd never heard of Emelya and the Magic Pike. Now I have. I really enjoy the broad reach of this site.

The name caught my eye because my daughter's name is Amelia, and I believe both names have the same meaning. A quick Google search tells me that both names might mean "amiable" or peaceable.
You can show that cartoon film to her!

Stas26 Шикарная 21-я Волга! Lovely old car!:thumbup::thumbup:

rmalkow2 Citric acid is an excellent cleaning tool. It is especially useful when cleaning the coffee maker, kettle.

Thank you...I kind of thought this is still the case in Russia and most Soviet Bloc countries, but was unsure...you really make sense in my mind....totally understand the social nature of Soviet city design. Very communal...we are very fortunate in America that we can live in more ways than apartment life and that our city planners gave us space...LOL

I will answer the words of Peter Stolypin, who was prime minister in Tsarist Russia of the early 20th century. This is a great figure, a reformer, Stolypin held a number of bills that went down in history as the Stolypin agrarian reform, the main content of which was the introduction of private peasant land ownership.

"Give the state 20 years of peace, inner and outer, and you will not recognize today's Russia."

The main point of his phrase is that if no one gets into the affairs of Russia from without and provokes revolutions inside, the country will very quickly develop and everyone will be happy.
If you look from a historical point of view, only in the last 100 years there have been a lot of attempts to seize our country from different sides.
I think that you understood my idea why we have a different approach to building, all these are echoes of aggression on the part of others and the need for rapid development of the state, contrary to the desires of every person.
Now much has changed, Bogdan said correctly that you can buy anything, there would be money for this :)

Is this a inspection pit, under the wood boards or a french drain I see in this photo?
38802715071_9ea947726a_c.jpg

YES, later I will posting photo of building our Garage.

Nice car and good job on cleaning the coil...are you worried about the outside of the coil? Does the interior have a cabin filter? Maybe the outside of the radiator is dirty from dust and ingested road grime? Just curious, I know newer vehicles here have cabin filters.

This car has a cabine filter and no problem with power of air.

As a reader of your thread, I try to relate how my life would be if I were living as your neighbor in your housing building.
So I am wondering where could I drive south to a warmer vacation spot during the winter?
Here in America, I can drive for 13 hours and be in warm New Orleans....as your neighbor, if I look south on the map, I see Kyzyl, Tuva, Russia 10 hour drive...south of there is Mongolia border crossing....so I ask.
Is there a place you can drive in a full day where you can be in a vacation spot?
Or do you have to fly to Vietnam anytime you want to go on vacation?

In winter if you want to the beach relaxing you are going to Tropics in Southeast ASIA or another place at Ecuator like your Mexico or Cuba.

In the South of Krasnoyarsk you can go to the Ergaki and go skiing or snowboarding, climbing on rocks and just enjoy nature. It Ergaki natural Park in the Sayan mountains.

Or you can see winter Baikal it's to the east from us near Irkutsk.

Although in the winter I like to heat a sauna at the cottage or go to the recreation center on the Krasnoyarsk sea, where you can merge with nature, to fry a shish kebab, take a walk, drink beer with friends. Ride with hills on sleds, it's significantly closer and faster. :pimpflash

Are you able to "drive" to China, Mongolia, or any country on the Asian continent?
YES, but in China we can drive without a problem only in Manchuria (on south and Centr china you must have a drive license and special car lisense plate it's chinese rule for foreign country car and car driver - it's very closed country than Russia and other old Soviet block countrys) and Mongolia (Mongolia is very friendly for Russia) and we have nothing problem to see that country, but I don't know something interesting for me what you can see there

Also, can you talk a bit about the Yenisei River, next to your city.
I understand it flows from south to the north arctic sea...very amazing!
I tried to follow it to it mountian beginning somewhere past Mongolia..
Does your city use the river to generate power or do you get electric power from Nuclear or coal plant?
here I mentioned the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric power station
I'll repeat - "Near Krasnoyarsk for 400 km to the north it does not freeze in winter due to climate change after the construction of the Krasnoyarsk Hydro-Power Plant."
Krasnoyarskaya HPP, according to the installed capacity (6000 MW), is the second largest in Russia and one of the ten largest hydroelectric power stations in the world.
Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric power station on the Yenisei river in twenty-seven kilometers upstream from Krasnoyarsk, near the city of Divnogorsk of Krasnoyarsk region. Included in the Yenisei cascade of HPP. The complex of HPP is, in particular, Russia's only ship's hoist.

In May-June 2010 there was a spillway from the hydroelectric station, due to the overflow of the reservoir in view of the snowy winter. We went to see this unique event, because it happens very rarely.

Do you have reliable electric power?
How is your apartment warmed? Electricity? Natural Gas? Oil? Wood?

Electricity is supplied from Krasnoyarsk electric networks. Heating the city's most Central ie hot water in the batteries. Thermal energy for heating previously developed at the Mining and Chemical combine, after the stop of nuclear reactors is produced at Zheleznogorskaya CHP plant from coal. We're all good :)

Sorry for all the questions....you do not have to answer any of them!
I just thank you for what you have shared ....спасибо

I like yours questions! Please don't stop! :lol_hitti

Stas: was that easier than taking the heater core out and doing it outside the car and i think i already know that answer, but i've never repaired or replaced one on any of my cars.

To remove the heater core much longer, because this is necessary to remove the entire dashboard

great pictures about of your country and projects. also I really like hearing about the politics or style of living within different country's rules or policies.

I'm glad you like my thread

sounds like Andy asked all the questions today and it's Sunday here so i'm not going to ask as many today. BTW is it Sunday in Siberia or are you on the same day as we are cause I think it's still Sunday in Romania where Bogdan lives?
All of Eurasia lives in the same day, only different time. Russia has 11 time zones, from Kaliningrad to Chukotka, that is, if Kaliningrad is 8 a.m, Kamchatka 7 p.m

Time difference between Bucharest and Krasnoyarsk + 5 hours. I compared the area of Bucharest and the Krasnoyarsk and was surprised that the area of Bucharest is 30% less than in Krasnoyarsk. However, the population there is 2 times greater than in Krasnoyarsk.

Stas, I too welcome you to the message board. Along with Vieux, your posts serve so well to remind us that people around the world have the same basic hopes and thoughts - that you can find work which satisfies you, and you can raise a family and enjoy traveling and a hobby of your choice, have good schools, and that you can be safe. A few questions from me - What is the price of one liter of milk, one liter of orange juice, one liter of Coke or Pepsi or your local "Cola"? Do you have McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken? Or is there a local fast food restaurant chain?

Anyway I wish that politics would fade to the background - we have much more in common than what separates us. Keep the posts coming and as others have said, your English is just fine.
Hi!

1 liter of milk - 0,87-1,37$ Depending on the fat content and the manufacturer. I prefer for 1.37. In villages you can buy milk - 0.5$ fresh, right morning milking :bounce:

1 liter of juice - 0,87-2$ My choise of juice - PEACH or Abrikos worth about $ 1.2 per 1 liter.

I don't drink coca-cola, I prefer Pepsi but don't kill me for that :lol_hitti
I asked my friend how much cost Coca-Cola he said that about 75 rubles per liter, i.e. about $ 1.27.

If I want sparkling water, I usually take the mineral water or soda domestic manufacturers known to me from my childhood in the USSR, "Pinocchio", "Bell", "Golden key", "Tarragon" is a drink with tastes similar to your sprite, Fanta, etc.
Cost of 1 liter soda of domestic brand about 30 rubles / 0.5$, mineral water 18 rubles / 0.28$ - 1 liter.

Does anyone drive a pickup truck as a personal vehicle in your area? I have enjoyed the car pictures but here in USA you would see lots of pickup trucks on the streets.

I have attached a link with pictures in case there is not a term you cannot translate

https://pixabay.com/en/photos/pickup truck/?cat=transportation
Pick up type of cars not popular in our region, but on the road you can see Toyota Tundra (most popular pick up here), Ford F-series, Dodge RAM, Chevrolet (don't know model of it) and UAZ Patriot Pick Up.

Ah yes, some good ole Russian ingenuity at work. Stas, keep the pics coming, this is very interesting. I keep coming back to this thread for more!

Thank you for the insight, please keep the posts and pictures coming!
THX! ;)

I prefer "Besser Pils" in aluminum cans - 0,5 liter 56 rubles / 0,95$ . I usually buy a package of 6 cans *0.5 liters - 3 liters =336 rubles / 5.7$ :rocker:

Style "Pils" is one of the most popular styles of brewing in Europe, characterized by a mesmerizing Golden color, combined with ease and a low content of a degree.

"Besser Pils" - a sparkling, refreshing German Pils with a full malt flavor and presence of characteristic slight bitterness of German noble hops. Is an excellent accompaniment to traditional German sausages.

Stas, thank you for the photos of the Krasnoyarsk Hydro-Power Plant. My father was impressed with the hydro power development in 1967. His guide was allowed to bring him (and my mother) into one of the plants, where he took quite a few pictures. One of them ended up in the book.

After my father died, the revisions to the chapter on the U.S.S.R. were less complimentary and included less flattering photos. My father's photos of young Russians in school were deleted and photos of elderly women in babushkas milking cows and picking cotton replaced them. Here's a scan of the page where he describes the growth of water power in your country. The plant you showed us had yet to be completed but he knew about it.

Hello for all gentlman! :D
Today is a perfect day and I want to show you my project of the "LIGHT in the Garage".

From the building time we have a fluorescent light, but I'm not really like it because it's too dim in my opinion

Let's GO!
On the ceiling there are 11 fluorescent fixtures

11 fluorescent fixtures

IMG_20171126_123547

IMG_20171124_113448

I bought a LED fixtures "JAZZWAY" brand and made in china. Fixtures in a dust-proof version for greater safety.
The color of the light is 4000 kelvins, like factory xenon on car headlights, like sunlight during the day.
The power of light is 3000 lumens, the power consumption is only 36 watts. Warranty 2 years.
1 fixture costs 570 rubles - 9.8 $.

I started the installation from the center.
As said by Yuri Gagarin - "let's Go!

First step of installation. UGLY!
The brain began to work. In an hour the thought came to mind that I need to use a junction box
:D:D:D
IMG_20171126_115812

Bought a junction box - 18 rub / 0,3$. Much better. :willy_nil
IMG_20171126_121240

To connect the wires used connecting blocks WAGO. The wire from the lamp is too long, I had to cut it off.

I am very pleased with the result, because the lighting in the garage became very bright and it became very light in the garage.

Stage 1 of project "LIGHT" is finished.
Stage 2 of project "LIGHT" will coming soon (I'm dreaming :D) - Lighting of the inspection pit.

All the best to all, good luck and good mood!

At the summer time, in july we have a hot days with +30 +35 degrees C.

When such a hot temperature lasts throughout the week, you get an ****** when the shower starts, it's warm and pleasant and it makes it easier to breathe. The rain dries up very quickly, because everything is burning with sunny heat.
YES, we have hot summer too!

The new garage lights really make a big difference. I did the same by using LED lights and am very impressed with the light output and the power savings. Your junction box idea made for a very clean installation.
Well done and big improvement.

Hi for all peoples!
Today I want to start a story about how our garage was at the time of purchase, unfortunately the very first photo I just do not have.

At the time of purchase, the garage was simply a box of concrete blocks, without a floor, with a flat roof of concrete slabs, with high iron gates.

The owner of the garage complex asked to remove several rows of blocks from the wall so that the roof would slope like all the other garages.

The father-in-law has driven the mobile crane, which has disassembled concrete slabs of overlapping from a roof. Then we removed about 5 rows of blocks from the wall and laid the slabs back on the roof.

The next stage was the excavation of the observation pit with a room and a cellar (a cellar, which has not yet been built to the end). The pit was dug by hand by 3 workers, and then the father-in-law laid out the walls with blocks of foam concrete.

Old gates

My father in law Vladimir worked on laying of the blocks
