I've got the 3/8" set with metric and fractional. Had them for about 3 months now. Love them. Just bought the 1/4" metric/fractional set. Should be here by the end of the week. Will post a pic when they arrive.

Had these in my watchlist for awhile already. Still haven't pull the trigger yet. Are the walls as thin as regular chrome sockets or in between impact and chrome?

They're more like the chrome. I'm wanting to try out some of the 1/2" stuff. I'm curious to see how it'll hold up.

Yea exactly they are about as thin as a chrome socket if not as thin. I would be interested too how well 1/2" hold up. I don't need 1/2" impacts so I won't know

I had that stylus pro in my pocket for years and it still keeps ticking. Awesome light. Also, the gw sockets are nice, although I only have a full set of 1/4 metric and sae deep and shallow, but they've held up nice. You'll love the cordless ratchet as well. Out of curiosity, what haro model do you ride? I've got two specialized s works frames and mostly odyssey parts with some other company's such as tree, mosh, etc.

Heavy, nice job on the raffle win! I am out to buy one of those, but I need to sell a few toys before I can swing it. I am totally jealous!

Just a thought, but you may want to sell that one on ebay and buy another one. I would watch, people pay crazy money for special limited edition snap on items.

I'm ordering a stock Traxxas body now. I'll put the SO body on the R/C shelf and save it from the bashing damage that I know it will receive.:D

The handle wrench is a Snap On SWR1 and the crows foot is also a Snap On SWR2. I found them both to be a godsend when doing Porsche sensors on V8 Cayennes and 997 GT3's. I'm sure I'll use them for other makes and models down the line at some point.

Thanks. Will put those on the 'secondary list' of tools to buy. Can't justify the price for the infrequent use they'd see in my garage right now but I can definitely see a need down the road.

Been wanting these for a while now. Just took them for a trial spin and seem pretty solid. I'm hoping these will be a little more dependable than my old Astro set that the end of the cable just snapped off after using perhaps a dozen or so times over the course of a year or so.

I almost bought a well-used-looking Snap On SHCP1A set just like this before I realized I could get the same one new from the same OEM for less.

Is this who makes the Snap-On one?
After 15 +/- years my Astro one died on me today. The Snap-On one is good but costly ( as usual ) I was wondering if it is Snap-On made or one of these rebranded.

Mayhew is who made the Snap On SHCP1A (and i assume the SHCP1 before that) and the Mayhew 28680 I got is identical to it. I'm not sure if Mayhew makes the SHCP2 that they sell now, but after seeing a video on it (it won't close all the way for smaller clamps) I knew the SHCP2 wasn't what I wanted.

FWIW I ordered it from Coastal Tool Supply for $67 shipped (now showing as 'low stock' instead of 'in stock'). Took a chance on them as I'd heard both good and bad reviews here on GJ and elsewhere, but they had the best price I could find even if just by a few dollars. I think they are associated with NXT Tools iirc and I'd done business with them before. Ordered on 3-3 and they showed up today. Works for me.

I have a cheapo one, don't even remember the brand, it has worked well for me. I got to use my knipex (not cable style) a bunch today, they work fairly well, but take some getting used to for the adjustments.

Yeah the one in the video SHCP-2 is definitely NOT the one I want.
I am thinking it is the 1A.

I have that Knipex one as well. I think it is about 50/50 if I use that or my cable one. If I think about it, access is the key. The Knipex might be the top hose go to and the cable might be the bottom hose go to.

That said I am not super impressed with the Knipex.

good to know. I have the 3/8" drive deep and shallow impact set in my bag as my primary sockets but sometimes I get in trouble where I don't have enough clearance and forced to use an open end wrench.

I agree access is the reason I would use one versus the other. As far as the knipex, I almost wish I had the non-locking style. If I was working on newer cars it may be a bit better, but I am working on 20 year old stuff mostly.

For easy-to-reach clamps, these Gearwrench locking hose clamp pliers are awesome:

de74ol.jpg

They come in from different angles, lock the clamp open and don't let go. The Mayhew cable pliers I got are for all the other clamps that are harder-to-reach.

image.jpgI don't have a Snappie guy so I have to get on the Snapon.com truck. A few screwdrivers and a hat for my new Milwaukee ratchet. Thanks Bobioz1 and ihateminimumwage for the idea and part number.

I haven't, but Mayhew makes a pro 'Rigiflex' set like that too.
http://mayhew.com/product/model-28690-rigiflex-hose-clamp-pliers/

Not having used them it seemed like it might not work as well as it looks or last as long. My older Astro set the cable just broke in two. There's a lot of force on the cable trying to open up those clamps when the cable isn't bent into a cursive signature. Then again, I haven't used any like that so ...

When I am working on lower radiator hoses, it would be nice for the clamp to stay put rather than trying to run away from the clamp. Those new Snap On ones could be useful, but I can't see spending $140 on a caulking gun and bicycle brake cable.

Definitely don't get the SHCP2. I've had it and the cable broke constantly. It was repaired for free by my dealer but it was always down. I got the SHCP1A and never had the problem again.
