We take care of our tools because of all the hard work and sacrifices we put in to earn the money to buy them. That guy that wrecked that torque wrench didn't pay a penny for it. Please tell me you understand the double standard here.
They usually just use that thing to cut torn body panels down.
It’s not a matter of warranty, Snap-on wants them to be seen using their tools so people will buy them. That how sponsorship works.

Somebody somewhere in this world really needed that torque wrench but can't afford it. I think instead of destroying the torque wrench, NASCAR should've donated it to somebody who really needs it and is willing to take care of it.

Trust me, when we are at the track and racing the clock to get the car back out there, we really aren't that concerned with what we use as a hammer. And we're relatively low budget. I think you need a reality check.
Brand sponsorship alone was valued at >$727 million last year. NASCAR could probably donate a few torque wrenches if they wanted to do so.

I was a heat of the battle thing there was no malicious intent I’m sure. I just find it odd that they had a 3/4” torque wrench of all tools but not a breaker bar in their pit box.
Think of all the tires and fuel just wasted during the race!

So I have just deleted a paragraph I wrote speculating on how it would become so stuck. I was thinking of a center lock nut ala Indy cars, F1, etc. I thought these roundy round guys DID use regular (sort of) lug nuts. I saw a (probably) homeless person this afternoon with a sign asking for gas money. Any idea how much race fuel costs?
So they give a little bit more of the backstory last weekend. It was stuck so they brought out a higher torque impact but instead of loosening it with that they inadvertently tightened it more.

The F'ing thing belongs to that team... The team OWNs that wrench.... they can treat it however they want. Regardless of how you feel. They could walk off the SO truck with a brand new replacement wrench and throw it in the ocean.... They can do that. It belongs to them. NOT YOU. lolol.
