Actually mine is 16' in height to accomodate 14' high doors so the 12' 10" tall RV will fit. The bonus is the loft area.

My garage is 15'....you can get an idea looking at the pics in my garage build (link in sig)

I would even consider 18' next time. I like the loft idea and would like to have a lathe, mill work area underneath with lots of flourescent tubes on the floor of the loft. Double the usable square footage of that portion.

We have been looking at buying a new place and I cannot figure out why none of the shops are 16'. Our camper won't fit.

That would depend on the type of construction and materials used.
