These were part of her high school senior pics. There were two young ladies that done senior pics at the station. I ran into the owner of the Plymouth the other day and he was able to direct me to the photographer.

It's time to move. My little town used to look like that at night until BMW, Michelin, and there suppliers moved in. I'm surely not a city brat in the slightest of definitions.

I notice the upstate location and the BMW reference. When I first saw the picture I was amazed at how close to down town Spartanburg looked in the late 80's and early 90s.

Unfortunately that was well past the height of main street and it was dead, and most of the buildings were abandoned.

Spartanburg has taken off the last 10-15 years. The county is giving a lot of financial incentives for business to start up or relocate there. If the business is large enough, the state government will get in on it and help with incentives. We the people end up footing the bill and rarely see any returns. :headscrat

The lady has exactly the right combination of beauty and modesty. Hard to achieve these days.

You mentioned a Plymouth owner, did I miss pictures of a Plymouth?

Every year the Friday evening after Thanksgiving the city has a lighted Christmas parade with an after parade party at La Poste with Santa making an appearance. The route goes up 3rd street right past the station. It appears poor Dino may have been molested by a group of teenage girls :dunno: and how many girls can fit on the back of a 6ft dinosaur you ask?? The answer is three. Its all good, lots of pics and perfect weather.

You should get one of those WiFi doorbells with the camera and speaker and put it by the dino. Soon as people start pyling on you could have tons of fun.

The is a big Dino outside the station/convenience store in Mound City, MO. I asked an employee if they've ever had anyone try to steal it. "You'd be surprised" was the reply...but the one there is so huge it would take a crane to move it. :) GLAD yours is getting so much attention.

I noticed the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade had a giant Sinclair dinosaur float. Synchronicity!

If this is the one your referring to its the same size as mine and is made of fiberglass. Two guys can easily move it.

Sinclair done a Dino to NYC road trip cross country the last few weeks promoting that on their Facebook/Instagram pages.

Guess I talked to the wrong person. Who knew. Favorite place to stop on the way to Omaha

You can see them putting one in a pickup in this video Sinclair put out a couple weeks ago. Mine actually weighs a good bit more than the fiberglass ones. I think it will hold up better to people climbing on it. I was really hoping to see a really big one I hadn't seen before, thats why I looked it up on google maps.

Great videos. I liked the dealer going out into the community. Definitely don’t see that type of service or marketing anymore. Funny how the boy says if he had a Sinclair station, he’d display his grandpa’s stuff and that’s what you’ve done.

We've been having some pretty mild weather for November anyway and it has brought a few old hot rods out of hibernation. A guy that owns a body shop down the street stopped in with his chevy for a couple quick pics.

While killing some time at work last week I came across this 1952 Sinclair Auto Tour Service packet on ebay and had to have it. So cool.

Maybe you and he could get together with a local car club or two and a local car dealer or auto parts company and your chamber of commerce and host a cruise in next summer in your town. I know that’s a lot of work and it’s just an idea but I think it would be really cool.

Since dino has become so popular, you may want to consider putting a coat of bedliner along its back to help it. I'm surprised that the area rod/street club have not contacted u.

I would say I’m surprised at the number of people that have do problem coming on private property and crawling all over personal property but I’m not.
I would say a Dino Donation bucket for restoration and maintenance could be beneficial.
Good for you though for providing a lot of smiles to people.

you need a NOT RESPONBILE FOR ACCIDENTS sign, so someone doesn't FALL and sue you?:dunno: People always looking for EZ money:sad: Or maybe talk to a lawyer and see what you should do to help protect yourself, along with insurance?

Just finished reading through this thread and wow, what a transformation. Looks amazing.

When I built my garage I originally wanted to do an old service station look with old gas pumps and signs around it but quickly realized I don't really have the space here. Hopefully when I build my retirement shop and house I will be able to plan it better for that result. Won't be an actual old garage like yours, which would be awesome, but the next best thing.

Once again, great job! Really impressive work.

The chamber actually already does an annual car show downtown in August, usually the first or second friday evening. If they wanted to use the station to help promote it I would be fine with that, but I'm really not too interested in hosting anything.

Location has a lot to do with it, its not like its sitting outside my garage at my house. Being in the downtown business district the general mentality is its public space, even though it is private property. I expected it and am fine with it, they're not going to hurt it. I was actually surprised how many people would stop and ask permission to take pics with their cars in the front when I first set the pumps out. Now they just pull in and do it. The growth of the facebook page locally probably has contributed to that. I usually share any pics I come across with cars in front of the building.

I finally located the last can I needed to complete my can display. This is the entire early to mid 50's Sinclair product line.

What you have done will be remember for years after you are gone. It must be a pleasure to know that you have put a smile on someone face. And that few lives will be changed for the better by your action. Two thumps up and a snap....for u have done something great.

Kudos for completing all the products. Does look awesome. Speaking of the phone, same one we had at our Texaco. Cord was longer so you could look out to the service bays. Your thread has reminded me of a lot of things I’ve completely forgotten about.

I hadn't really thought of that, but I'm sure years down the road somebody will be telling their kids there was an old Sinclair station in town when they grew up. Kinda cool when you think about it that way.

I uploaded a quick video to youtube from last friday evening when the lighted parade was going on. Shows some of the reaction a green dinosaur can create. The little ones are the best. They all run to him then stare up at him like now what do I do. The little girl is going to have to wait a few years before she can pull off the bunny ears. Not the best quality video, I just recorded it off the tv with my phone because I was to lazy to download the video off the dvr. :dunno:

Been doing some body work on the Customline and needed to figure out a way to contain the dust from spreading everywhere. One benefit of the bays having dividing walls made it pretty easy. the two south bays will be the designated mud work bays so I bought some 3/16ths metal wire, a couple threaded eye bolts, a turnbuckle and a 10x12 tarp. When ever I'm doing dusty work I can close that opening off and when I done slide the tarp the side to open it back up.

Dino feeling a bit festive

I picked up this 50's Goodyear tire stand a couple weeks ago to replace the newer stand I've been using, but keep forgetting to post it.

Glad to see you completed your product collection with that last can. Dino looks great and is contributing greatly to the city atmosphere. It very fun and commendable that you have improved the culture in town a bit. The locals are definitely enjoying Dino.
Love the tire stand as they are not always easy to find at a decent price.
Many good improvements lately.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Customline turns out.

Dino’s finish is going to be worn off it before the first year is up.

Maybe summertime will bring out the drunken college girls with minimal clothing.
