Wishing everybody a Happy New Year! Our 2018 is staring off a COLD -22 this morning. Just wanted to take a moment and thank everybody that has taken time from your busy day to follow along this little project. The attention it gets still baffles me...never truly expected any of it.

I stumbled across a set of wedding pics while wasting some time on the old Facebook that as soon as I seen them I knew the exact day they were taken. One Saturday a year ago December I rounded the corner to the station and seen a bunch of foot prints in the fresh snow in front of the building. Mind you this is before anything was done out front. I thought it was odd at the time, but now it makes sense..

Dino seems to be sneaking off during the day :dunno: Never pegged him as a jeeper.

Really fun to see so many locals and the town itself get behind your efforts and treat your remodel as the real bonus to the community that it is. Your 2017 efforts on this building are awesome. Have a great new year!

Everyone knows you're an extremely talented paint/metal worker, but your photography skills are freakin' impressive.

Not only are the pics clear (which anyone with a DSLR or a fancy smartphone can achieve nowadays), but you have an eye for composition.

Here's a little preservation project I just finished up. I bought this farm fresh Ditzler body shop thermometer at an estate auction. It's an original I would guess 60's era. For those that don't know Ditzler was PPG's brand of automotive paint back in the day.

I pulled it apart cleaned and polished everything then reassembled it. I'm pretty happy with how well it cleaned up.

Kinda hard to get a good pic because the glare from the lights, but I hung it above my toolbox

My newest toy, I upgraded to a foot operated shrinker/stretcher. So much nicer

Thermostat looks like new.
I saw a pneumatic shrink/stretcher at a swap meeting recently. I wonder how good it works. 1942b03f2db3f0eeeba2f043b93a14db.jpg

Mittler makes some nice American made tools. I use their bead roller dies. The main downfall to that S/S is your very limited by the lack of throat depth. That was the main reason I wanted to upgrade to a new one and it handles thicker gauge metal better. On pieces like this, the deeper throat depth machines shine.

If there is interest I may begin to show some of the car builds in this thread. I have the projects thread that I used to post in, but keeping up 2 threads can be time consuming. I intended to keep this thread to building related posts, but I may just abandon the projects thread and combine the two into this one. If there is interest. Thoughts?

Sometimes cool stuff flies under the radar on Ebay and it goes for cheap. This was one of those cases and I was lucky enough to get it. It is a 1950's era Auto-Lite 24F countertop battery display. I know its 50's era because it still has the hyphen, when Ford bought Autolite in the early 60's they took the hyphen out of the logo. Reproduction top covers that simulate mid 60's Autolite batteries for Mustang restorations are available. I ordered one for this.

That battery display is pretty cool, it looks like it may be made of rubber?

There is interest here. :D

Here too! I would definitely like to see what's happening on your vehicle projects, no matter which thread you choose to post them in. I can appreciate how much time it would take to keep updating a thread, and I'd bet some days it feels exhausting to type up an update. Especially after the amount of energy you have put into whatever you are working on that day!
I'm sure there are so many of us that are thankful that you have kindly taken the time to bring us along on your various adventures. I sure am.

You could combine this thread with one about mutant lesbian zombies returning stolen Craftsman tools to Harbor Freight and it would still be one of my favorite threads.

Combine away! Can't wait to see more of your automotive handiwork.

If combining and adding more posts about project work all in one thread makes your life easier I say go for it. We appreciate the info whichever thread it appears on.

Alright the people have spoken... I'll post some of the car stuff in here as well. A quick summery of the 2 current projects. First is a 1960 F100. This one was a very stock unmolested truck that was involved in a wreck and then parked. Out with the straight 6/ 3 speed trans, in with a fuel injected aluminum head 289/ C4 combination. 4 wheel disc brakes, crown vic IFS, later model mustang limited slip 8.8. This is a complete ground up build.

The other is the 53 Customline. This is more of a budget build, just a dirty old driver hot rod. It has had drivetrain swap to a 302/c4/8 inch rear. Currently still 4 wheel drum brakes. A front disc brake conversion is planned along with body and paint. Color wise I am thinking of doing it a two tone. Satin black on bottom and a gloss ruby red metallic on top. Interior will get the ruby red also, but in satin finish. I'm a little short on time, but here a quick overview of the work done on the cutomline in the last few weeks. I'm planning to have this one going into paint by early spring then focus on the f100 after that.
