Although most of the web is cut out, the flanges are intact and that is what gives a c-channel/i-beam it's bend resistance.
I'm guessing when steering is at full lock the rack boot might be inside the notch.

As someone who's broken their frame in half more than a couple times....This portion of the frame looks overly notched! Any concern or is it just front sheet metal support forward of the notch?
You are correct, that overly notched!
OP, you need to add more back or a bridge on top.
An update on the truck: The exhaust headers have been modified to allow the steering shaft to split the tubes and ride between them on the driver side and go straight back on the passenger side, The front suspension is all fitted up and the motor mounts are positioned and welded in. The guy was bending the brake lines while I was there dropping off a set of corvette wheels and tires.

The "C" notch doesn't bother me as much as the boxing on the cross member. This looks curved like it's 18ga and not 3/16 or 1/8th. Maybe an optical illusion. I have those all the time. LOL. Just an observation from the peanut gallery. Love the build.

I did some that way once. Once. It was a Merc 2.6-liter Cologne V6 in a Mazda B1600 pickup.I can do headers, no bender required. LOL.

Box plate looks similar to the frame thickness.
The end is a 'C' shape like it should be, to reduce stress points where it ends on the flanges.
Project is a perfect fit for a nitrous system.

My first thought was...plain ole black headers on such a Don's little "Make Over project? Of course not, we know even the headers will blow us away!
