That is an evil keyway!

OK, I splurged on an Early B-day gift to me off Eprey. You can see what I did with it here:

It's a Proto 5449-D, and I will use it primarily on the Mill vise I have for the DP.:

Well you could always cut the hasp off the toolbox lol

Let's see.... you guys let a bunch of old-timers with really poor eyesight, slow moving bad hips and arthritic hands out-pick you at an estate sale???.... and then post here to cry about it??
This thread got really funny fast. I used to go to tons of sales bright and early in the morning. There were lots of old guys like that. They would pile in like mad, clog up the sale and not buy a thing. I think they just like to see what people have.

my cl find from yesterday. got it from the orig owner, date code of 9/72. has the key for the top box but not the bottom. has some cool vintage speed decals on it also. he also threw in a hf pressure washer with a bad pump, but the 6.5hp engine runs good. the goofy buick badges are already taken off, lol. paid $75 for the box.

.....sounds like someone is bitter...
I work second shift.. I go out a few hours before I get out to work and find some goodies.. I rarely get up to be an early bird for he worms. But--knowing the house is older, and has a messy basement and garage.. Interests me.. Don't hate if someone of us are selling the stuff we buy for a few extra bucks. There are places where the sales just aren't happening-those of us out in the rural areas have the gold mines a little closer. We are glad to spread the love--you just gotta pay the finder "fee".Heck--when you on the last day of the sale and it's 5 degrees outside-you can count on getting the good deals. The last stuff I grabbed this weekend was 50% off day.. I didn't even try to bargain-fella running the sale wanted $10--I was happy to oblige.
Or--quit being lazy and griping about those old dudes who still have ants in their pants and hop outta the sack early, share breakfast with their boys at Dunkin Donuts--then get there early..
Outlaw-Is that mill handle a stock Proto piece--or was it manufactured by a wise machinist?? Pretty cool.

edit** just to add to it, the engine starts on the first pull and runs perfect![]()

YOU ****!
I've been looking for one of those for years, I can never find one for a decent price. Whatever you paid, I envy your recent purchase...
It's not actually a Mill handle, that is it's intended destination though.
Real Proto built. 5449-D; no one so far knows what it was for originally...
Hey, my turn is coming!
I get a kick out of the older dudes. A few weeks ago there was a short, grey-haired guy who was old enough to have some trouble walking. He picks up a pickle fork and says, "hey, I can use one of these!"
Sure, knock your self out!
Hell, I'm 52 and can still use a pitch fork, much less a pickle fork.

FINALLY my first garage sale/pawn shop/Craigslist scores of 2014!
Wednesday I stopped at some pawn shops and found a decent P&C adjustable wrench. Went up to the front to pay for it and the guy had a rusty box of tools there. He told me $10 for the whole box, I took a quick look and saw a Snap-On large wrench and a Craftsman ratchet without even digging, sold! Along with a few other tools I paid $17.50 total. I am still sorting it out, lots of junk but bit of Snap-ON, Craftsman, Mac and other tools. Lots of cleaning to do as well! It will be a while before I get pics up.
What size is the Klein nutdriver?
