Pet, lot's o' cool stuff there! We re-did one of this cisco stools. (My grandparents had one for YEARS.... Wish I could have gotten that one.)

Can you post closeups of the Plvmb ratchet? Does it look modified/welded on on there handle?

The ratchet isn't modified. One of the screwdrivers is sitting on top of it though in the previous pic. All three screwdrivers are also marked not guar., by the way.

The Cosco stool I plan on restoring, and I picture my now two year old son climbing up in it to help me in the garage.

Okay, I am now officially, insanely jealous. We had a couple of those when I was a kid, and they were the handiest things to have around.

I have looked for one of those for years, and I never find them in any kind of functional state. Please post up pics when you're done restring it.

Randomly stopped at a little garage sale over the weekend and landed a 1/2" drive SAE SK socket almost-set (missing one socket) w/breaker bar, a few loose SK wrenches, and a 3/8" SK ratchet. All that AND a bat house for a whopping $25 after a little negotiation. Not a "you ****" deal, but very fair IMHO.

River those are cool looking clamps! How big are they?

The clamps are just under 12" overall, and weigh approx 5 lbs each.

They are made by Jorgensen, and have a 6" max opening.

I have a sandblaster starting on a job tomorrow, and I'm thinking I'll have them blast off all the crappy paint then seal them with some Penetrol.

I'll post pics when they're done.

Keep the media off the screw treads, it does them no good. A wire wheel is better there.

Wow, 6" and 12 overall; yeah, I'm surprised TSA let then by...

No yard sales for me this last weekend, I had my own, I rented the parking lot at a down town bike shop. We sold almost 1300.00 including 900.00 from my extra tools. It was crazy, People didn't buy the nice s&k socket sets, but ate up the junk tools at .50 each. I sold a roll around bottom box and a job box and my large organizer... Great sales...Rich

You rented a whole parking lot? How many tables did you have? You must move some volume to hit $2100 from under $5 items.

When I moved into my wife's house she had one of those Costco chair, its a newer version that's red. I have a love hate relationship with it since its in my garage. One the thing I don't like is its not very solid in the garage so I sometime feel like it wants to tip over.

I picked this up this morning for $40 + tax at a pawn shop while looking for a floor jack. It took 58 seconds to run down. Their isn't a date marked on either side of the bottom plate. Is their any other place to look?

petveedub, it is usually stamped on the galvanized bottom plate. They used a date stamp like librarians used to use with the rolling numbers.

I would guess it was 1964ish or later since it has side covers (that makes yours much safer). My 1962 version does not have the side covers or a slot for a quench tray.

Good save. The round top grinders are very pretty. Grinders are very utilitarian tools, but it is much easier to be proud of them when they have some aesthetic style. There is no reason why that grinder could not be used by your children's children. The love of tools like this is a good part of what I enjoy about GJ.

Picked up a Baldor 8" grinder today with Baldor stand today. He was advertising the grinder for $300 and a large vise with 8" jaws for $200. I asked for pictures of both, none on the Craigslist ad. The vise was 8" jaw width but it was a Chinese vise in poor condition, didn't even have jaw inserts. He sounded like he was desperate to sell the grinder so went to look at it today. Made a deal on it and bought some other stuff too.
Price? Make a guess LOL. Nine4GMC knows!

Here is the other stuff I picked up from the same guy when I got the Baldor for $75.

First pic has the Channellock tiny adjustable pliers and needle nse, 2 Cleco pliers,Cherry USA dykes, Crescent USA long nose pliers, 2 Petersen Vise Grip C clamp pliers, 3 Craftsman punches and a 1/2" flex ratchet, National Telephone Supply Nico crimpers (calling Jeff Moss!) 1 Blue Point and 3 Proto C-clip pliers. $25 for all.

This red box came in a larger box of aircrafts tools and bits and miscellaneous.
A little research showed it was Bendix Magneto rebuild tools. Should bring a few bucks on Ebay. :rocker:

The third and fourth pics are from the same big box. Lower left is a USA made Wintech 1/2 ton hoist/winch, probably for marine use. Upper left is a bunch of aircraft quick release pins. Lower right is an Adel Tool Co sheet metal nibbler and that black handled tool above it with 1/4 ring on the other end is a Lycoming SZT-383 seal installer that is over $500 new :scared:
In the fourth pic is a working 12V power supply, working Pitney Bowes scale, a marine style fuel filler in the center, roll of sandpaper, aircraft oil pressure gauge and other stuff. All this was $20 for a total of $120 for Sunday from this one guy.

Craftsman 1/3hp round top block grinder 397.19580(I think it will clean up real nice), 2' piece of rr track(not pictured), and flexible work light (not pictured) $20

Small SK tin(roached outside but nice inside), usa vise-grips $1

GE fan $3
Proto professional slip joint pliers $0.25
Klingspor 36 grit discs $2

Dayton cantilever toolbox $8
The top trays have lids with locking tabs that keep them closed. It measures 18w x 10.5d x 13h and is heavy when empty. I already straightened the bent guide that can be seen in the bottom right of the open box pictures. It shuts real nice now. Only a couple of minor dents and dings. Slight surface rust on the latches and bare spots. It will be my new box to carry tools I wish to trade.

I mostly hit garage and estate sales. I have pretty much stopped going to the local flea/swap meets. I see the same guys selling stuff I saw them buy at estate sales for 4 times the money. Obviously you see a higher concentration of good stuff in one place but I'm to tight(or broke) to shell out for the middle man fee.

I run into the same guys at a lot of the local sales. I try to find out what they collect and keep an eye out for that stuff. When I run into them, I see what they bought that day and sometimes we do a little horse trading. I have snagged a few phone numbers and meet up to trade with them sometimes. I also hit a couple reoccurring tool sales. The prices are always high, but sometimes I can trade tools I picked up cheap, for tools I want. I have even pulled this off at a couple of the local pawn shops.

I have been using a klein tools canvas bag for my trade bag, as well as a place to put greasy tools untill I get home. The problem with it is, it offers no organization so it is a pain to find anything. This new box will allow me to have my trade stuff somewhat organized. I will probably seperate things by brand, but I may go by the type of tool.

No pics, but I picked up an SK 3767 which is the 1/4" flex head with 3/8" guts for $15 from a local pawn shop.

I use mine for everything. The only thing I don't like is the pin instead of a machine screw. No way to adjust tension if it should get weak. Handy dandy ratchet

Recent Finds

It has been a while since I've had the time to hunt for new acquisitions, so I had some serious GAS build up. Over that last month or so I went on a bit of a binge and these are my finds:

1) Proto Body Tools

Found these at a great pawn shop while visiting my folks. Every time I go in there they have some awesome tools. This time I found this Proto hand box and the following mint condition body tools inside:

1509 hand file
1452 dolly
1453 dolly
1454 dolly
1421 body hammer
1424 body hammer
1426 body hammer
1427 body hammer
1428 body hammer

Shop was asking $120 including tax for everything, I walked the lot out the door for $80 cash.

2) Flea Markets are the shiznit! For $49 I just picked up the following lot:

Black & Decker Professional Series angle grinder with original box - mint
(this thing retailed for $79 in 1986!)
9pc set of S-K Superkrome SAE Combination wrenches (missing 1/2")
Vintage Craftsman dual speed sabre saw
Warwood cross pein hand sledge like new
Vintage Sears/Allstate 6 amp battery charger (just in time for an electrolysis project)
Misc. lot of hand tools/reamers/pliers/drivers/wrenches including S-K, Craftsman, mostly USA

3) Finally, who doesn't LOVE craigslist? We recently moved and I finally have a big garage to fill with tools and toys. I have a lot of hardware and various small car parts that I've been hauling around in greasy boxes and bags with holes in them for the last few years. Enough!!! Found these vintage Equipto 18 drawer cabinets 10 minutes from the house. Both are in excellent condition - these hold a surprising amount of stuff btw. I paid a little more for these at $75 each, but the seller was moving and threw in a gently used Craftsman chainsaw for another $20:

Great items.
Can you post a number or better pics of the pliers. I have a small kraeuter catalog
Is that half of a snap on test light?

Yes it is. It was 50 cents so I figured worse case scenario I could use it for an awl. Any body have the other half?? I would be interested in purchasing it! I will get some better pictures of the pliers and post them. I knew that a $1 for the pliers I should buy them and find out what they fit later:bounce:

Dude, you just hammered it with these finds. Seriously, $80 for all the proto metal bumping tools:bowdown: And then the Equipto find:rocker: Well done!

Nice little Proto gold mine you picked up. If you got it for $80 the Pawnie must have took the original owner out back and beat him a while to buy it.
