It was a busy week but a little Ebay shopping,a couple estate sales,a garage sale and a Craigslist sale. I did a little buying this week:rocker:

First up was an Ebay purchase of 2 Proto ratchets and sockets.
looks to be near complete SAE shallows along with misc Craftsman & SnapOn.
Ad had just simply said "sockets" $17.50 with shipping

005 (Large).JPG

Next up was a sale I was tipped off to by a fellow GJ'er,Rickster so I tipped of Jerry(ShadowRulez) and spent $85 there. Got a near complete Cornwell deep,12point 1/2" dr set,Proto extension, punch, and pry bar,Snap On deep sockets,Proto deep sockets,BIG and small adjustable pliers.

018 (Large).JPG

The next sale was a Craigslist ad. Guy turned out to be familiar with GJ(Zigzag) so we chatted quite a bit, always great to meet another GJ'er and I bought another vintage Craftsman box along with ratchets from Sk and Cornwell and some Snap On goodies for $70.

001 (Large).JPG

Next was an Estate sale I hit yesterday scored this lot for $12.
The arc-joint pliers are smooth jaws, unique adjustment/locking labelled CREST
010 (Large).JPG

This led to a TOO Estate sale on the way home which netted me a pretty fair amount of tools over two trips,I had went back today to try and score a vise for Jerry, but my charm wasn't a good enough negotiation.Sockets are SK,Armstrong,Proto and Snap On.I did leave my number and I think they will call in the next week or so.But I spent $26 over the two trips for this:

013 (Large).JPG

014 (Large).JPG

016 (Large).JPG

I think I've done OK this weekend.
I do need an 8mm SK 8308 combo wrench to fill a void in the set if anyone has a loose one ,PM me.Thanks

And now for the tools...

2 Crestaloy Adjustables, 1 Williams, 1 Ridgid, and a Fleet.
The micrometer is a Craftsman, 30's era
2 Plomb Pebble's
another CMan Circle H = socket, making my collection 3 now, lol.

Proto LA Rat, Bonney RF22 Rat, 2 Perfect Handle Screwdrivers (thought I snagged 3, gotta check the car), some CMan, a Lexus wrench, 2 Heyco's...

Bunch of CMan sockets, Stanley, Crescent, Vermont American, and Upson screwdrivers... Crescent cutters on the bottom, not sure who the other is.

bunch more CMan, a New Britain screwdriver, then Armstrong, KAL, and Herbrand wrenches too...

Not pictured, about double all of the above, but from Taiwan / India. What do you guys do with the random import no name stuff?

Rick, I take all the foreign stuff and throw it in a cheap box that I picked up at a sale just to carry the good tools in and flip it for some money back.

You guys had some great finds this weekend! We had a sale this morning and went to a sale this evening, I picked up some Engineering hard back books for $1 ea while the girls got vintage tins and lil old lady sweaters

I havent had much luck lately with finding anything I wanted at G-sales as of late. Today my lucked changed I paid $85 for everything here. The ratchet wrenches are Gearwrench and the 1/2" breaker bar is Craftsman and the torque wrench is Mato, everything else is Snap-On. The radios look to be NOS. The longer Snap-On extension has a date code of 1938. The 1/4 drive ratchet has a date code for 1951.

You ****!

It was a busy week but a little Ebay shopping,a couple estate sales,a garage sale and a Craigslist sale. I did a little buying this week:rocker:

Definitely looks like you were busy, I'll post my stuff at some point. Thanks again for the tip.

Hey guys,
This is my first post here. Ive been lurking on here for a while. My name is Aaron and Im 26. I am a forklift technician by trade and my garage activities come down to 4x4 fabrication and what i would call a "glutton for punishment" for fixing things.
My garage sale find today was a johnson model j bandsaw with spare motor, and a walker turner drill press with a beat up vise. 300 for all of it. The drill press needs love. The bandsaw was in good shape. However the gentleman who i bought it from was trying to load it with me onto my trailer at a mile a minute. I could not slow this guy down. If someone else saw us loading this thing they would have thought we were stealing it. Well in the process the saw toppled over. The guy immediately grabbed it and started trying to pick it back up like there was a child pinned underneath it. At this point i realized the upper arm on the saw was now cracked. I told him to just stop and after haggling and stopping to use our heads to load it i got it. Eventful morning to say the least.

Hopefully i can do something with this crack. The only good part is it cracked in the middle of where the two pieces of steel for the blade guide arms go. So there are two pieces of steel to bolt across the back of the crack to hold it straight while welding.
This is my second bandsaw. Im 80% finished completely redoing a johnson model b bandsaw. Guess its time to youtube "how to weld cast iron". woo hoo.....

Preheat the metal and use nickel weld rod. Heat a pile of sand in the oven to cover the weld when finished That will control the cooling so it will cool over the course of hours and not minutes

That's a basic rundown but there is a wealth of info out there for you to learn. Hopefully you can make it look new again after your "friend" helped you out so much

I keep forgetting but what was the road to hell paved with again?:D

Lambo,

By annnnnnny chance, did you buy the Walker-Turner DP for $60 in Zebulon? If so, you beat me to it!

I tried to buy one in Zebulon, but the seller told me it had already sold. Wondering if it's the one you bought!

That box looks like an aircraft test equipment box show a few more pictures inside and outside.
Here are some more, it really seems like something was bolted inside. I There are lots of threaded holes around the box. There is and looks like

inside shot of the lid, the lid has hinges which when open allow the lid to slide off the body of the box.

Love the wheels on that welding torch cart. Too skinny for outside in gravel, but real nice on concrete shop floor. Gotta be quite old?

Yeah the cart really moves nicely around the shop/garage. It does a much better job of moving gas bottles than the modern cart I already had. I haven't found much on its age but the burdett company ran from the 1900s to the late 60s. It would be interesting to find out for sure but I have hit a dead end

I thought I was doing pretty good this morning but now that I've seen the other posts about welding carts, I don't feel the same way amymore:lol:

I found this real small torch setup this morning, complete with victor regulators and all of the gas welding goodies in the storage box attached to the cart for 35.00

It's really tiny but should be great for limited home use when I ned to get a bolt unstuck on a vise
Wow great deal for 35! Just harbor fright bottles are three times the price. Might get pricy to refill the bottles still worth it

Two yard sales yesterday the first one I got

3/8 and 1/2 craftsman -v- series ratchets. The small c-clamp the sears 10" adjustable wrench (it's made in Japan?) and a bunch of rope. For the grand total of 1 dollar.

The second sale I picked up an SK 1/2 ratchet a SK 1" socket and a craftsman ignition wrench set for $7.00

I am pretty happy with everything, the 1/2 craftsman needs some attention it has some surface rust on the handle and all of the ratchets could use some super lube.

Yeah that sure looks like the box for an old military electronics tester. Handled many of from my time as an Air Force aircraft crew chief and later as a tool crib supervisor.

Estate Sale a couple blocks from the house. **** all over the garage.

Came up with the 12" Crescent wrench, Craftsman Vice-Grips & Hanson drill bits. $3.

IMG_0599_zps7e2ab268.jpg

Searched through a pile of old rusty tools and **** in the bottom an old wood cabinet in the back of the garage. Since the stuff was $1 and this looked very interesting I took a flyer and I pulled this out of the rubble. Blue Point/Snap-on 10Ton puller for $1

Just got back from a sale found via CL with a fellow toolhunter.
He found a guy had a couple toolboxes in a storage unit. We ended up with a 10 drawer Matco top box and a 16 drawer Beach box .Total cost was $150 for the pair. Seller was alittle weird in that we had called to look at the boxes, met us at a storage facility, Beach box was buried ,didn't bring the keys to either box but was pushing to make a sale without looking. ended up waiting for an additional 20 mins and got the keys and the boxes out.
Had some air tools and an import 3/4" drive set that we will flip in CL to recoup some of the investment.
003.jpg
Seller was originally asking $200 for the pair but we couldn't commit until the boxes were opened.
The Beach has a few dings, but the doors open/close/fold right, locks work, etc.
Its currently still on my truck(or I'd have more, better pictures) as I have offered to sell it to a co-worker.If he passes on the deal, wall space WILL be made and somehow fit it into my shop.

I've been busy all summer remodeling the kitchen but it is nearly done so so I had some time this weekend to hit a few sales.

Saturday I was out from 7am to 1pm and first sale started at 9:30 but I wanted a good number. Today I spent another 2 hours at some local sales. All together I spent just under $100 in 8 hours and drove 95 miles. It was a total of about 10 sales. Everything from large estate sales to local yard sales that were not advertised.

Well, enough chat. Here is what I got.

Nice stuff! The Farmerboy pliers are Button's Pattern pliers; never heard of that brand, wonder if it's a regional or store brand? The mystery Wilde pliers are battery pliers, the Singer pliers look like they bring good money on ebay. The IBM pliers might, too... I've never seen 'channellocks' like those Kleins! Cool finds all around!

A rough morning today.
The first stop was a return trip (again) to a barn/cellar cleanout. It was supposed to open at 8am, at 8:40 there was still no sign of life so I left to go to my second stop. The second stop was a bust. The hardware store was now open so I stopped in for some supplies. They were out of stock. Back to the first stop. The guy was open, but his daughter (who was supposed to help him) was still a no show at 9:30.

This was a honey hole the first time I went about 2-3 weeks ago. It's about tapped out now.

I really only went there for one item I remembered buried in a corner, but I still pawed through both 20' tables full of parts and nuts & bolts plus the tables in the barn (for the third time ).

The last stop was the local FM. No luck.

Pic - 1
3 boxes of square nuts (1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16)
some Flanged washers (1-1/4"dia, 3/8" center hole)
____ (Drivesitfar - let me know if one of these will work for your clamp vise)

Pic 2 -
a main screw for a large Columbian vise w/ broken main nut
____ What's left of the nut says Columbian 40 on it.
____ The shaft dia is 7/8" with 4TPI, and is 18" long overall (includes the head)
____ Other details available upon request.
I picked this up in case someone from the Golden Rescue Squad needs it to fix one of the hoard. PM me.

Holy JCPenney/Penncraft collection! This sale, the majority of drive tools/wrenches were from Penney's. Maybe the owner cleaned them out when they got rid of the brand because he had doubles and triples of some and a lot of NOS. Myself and several other guys commented how they had never seen so much of it in one place. Some guys didn't know JCPenney had a tool line.

Jcpenney driver w/ bits,Penncraft 3/8 metric set,Penncraft 1/4 shallow set (new Britain/Husky style)

Saturday's $5 find. Two proto screwdrivers, a snap-on screwdriver, a frozen crescent 4" adjustable, and two plvmb wrenches.

IMG_8737.JPG

This is what I got from Rickster's tip through Andy. He's still supposed to be open tomorrow, I might check it out again there were a few things that were still calling my name. I missed out a couple of ViseGrip 11R for $5, another guy grabbed them while I was putting my pile together. I've got about $300 here. Almost everything was SAE, he was a heavy duty mechanic. If anyone is interested in a 1" drive proto set or a 3/4" drive Cornwell set, I can get you the address.

Proto carry box with a proto speeder in it and a bunch of misc sockets that I have to go through, an empty snap-on case, a 1/4" snap-on torque wrench marked new (and it's immaculate), a blue Cornwell box with the old logo on it with a no-name gasket punch set in it, a cornwell weatherhead socket set, a large set of Cornwell 4-ways, a set of Cornwell tappets, a snap-on 1/4 etorx set, a 1/4" proto metric set, a set of Cornwell combinations (with two dupes at the bottom), three vise grips, a set of snap-on hard handle pliers, a proto 1/2" ratchet and two Cornwell ratchets and a Snap-On pick.

Thanks. Yeah, it was a busy one too. Were you there?

Well it didn't come from a garage sale, but it was a trade with a friend:

Nice Craftsman Jeff. I forgot, weren't those catalog only?

The good stuff just keeps coming!

With respect to all the Detroit guys, I'm glad I don't have to compete with all you guys and chase all the sales in a population that large...

We are a 24 hr crowd around here. We probably could have found you a sale or two to go to. Of course we would have already cleaned it out !!
Or at least offered to show you the finer points of the Downriver area.Zug Island is beautiful this time of year.

I just got back from a quick trip across Metro Detroit to pick up these Snap On& BluePoint goodies:

Jerry had seen them on CL and shared the link, knowing full well I couldn't pass up a deal like these. Got the load for $100.I think the comfort grip FHLF80 will almost recoup my investment:beer:

Went to the swap meet today at PIR and picked up these goodies...

I got this nice heritage logo carry box for $5. I have not done anything to the box yet, even clean it. I think I will just clean it up and wax it!

The tray is almost mint

Picked up these Plvmb bits from various venders. Got 2 transitional pieces as well!

Got these speeders, both Plvmb but the 3/8ths one is missing the handle? Any one have one? Also the P&C 3/8ths extension is missing the detent ball, any one have one?

This is what I got from Rickster's tip through Andy. He's still supposed to be open tomorrow, I might check it out again there were a few things that were still calling my name. ... Almost everything was SAE, he was a heavy duty mechanic.

Yup, I took a lot of metric out of there the first day! Stopped again today for the third time this weekend and he's wheeling and dealing on prices. He'll be open Monday which is his last day.

Next part of my finds, found this proto tool?? I think it is a letter opener/bottle opener but you guys may know better? It has the name of a tool company from Oakland, C.A. on the back

Scored these 2 distributor wrenches for $2-one is a matco, will be used on my old mopars!

Last piece, made me sad but it is better than not buying it. Some idiot heated up a very early double open ended Plvmb wrench. I bought it for a dollar and will probably heat it back up and straighten it

I second that!
You guys find great stuff.

No, I figured all the good stuff would be gone by the time I could get there since I was out of town for work until late Friday.

Oh, I see where you were.
I showed up late and missed a lot of good stuff but took a second run through to make up, lol.

This weekends haul at an Estate sale. Tough admins, no negotiations whatsoever, they will take it off your hands if you even try. I think they have a thrift store (or partners) waiting to do leftover cleanups.

Anyways:

Notables:

Orbitron dual action 10 inch polisher - Pretty decent shape, maybe used less than 10 times. Just need new bonnets and I've always wanted a 10 inch one.

JC Penny Table top Drill press Stand with a Thor drill. The lever action is silky smooth and the mount seems pretty solid and it looks straight to me.

Another mounted hand drill kinna thingy - This ones DOA but I only got it for $2.

Craftsman V punches (9 from a set of 12) New.

Drilldex 1-60 black oxide bit index - Missing only 1 bit and around 80% is unused.

120 Grit 1/4 shank Flapwheels - Didn't write down the brand but I remember it was usa.

Few unopened titanium drill bits and red loctite.

... Also did you pick up the proto body hammer in the picture recently or are you the guy that got all those hammers and dollies a while back for $80??

Yeah, that was me. I forgot to mention that I actually paid $80 CANADIAN, which of course was more like $75 US. :)
