WNY - The Stubby SK; does it look factor/one piece? or did someone cut the handle of and drill the handle hollow and press it back together?

Nice finds!

I think this was my first real garage sale. Tired of paying craigslist prices :) [BOLD]But the place was in complete disarray and more like a hoarder situation. [/BOLD]Low on quality tools, likely previously picked by family. All for $25, probably could have gone lower, but I was good with it.

Good finds, Scooter. ^^^I personally like the "complete disarray" hoarder sales. It may be chaotic and take more time to go through, but in those situations it is still possible to find done amazing stuff that others overlooked.

Outlaw I believe that is a factory made model, if you notice the script is in a ring around the selector since there isn't enough real estate on the handle

nine4gmc & Outlawmws:

Thanks for info and that it's the real deal as a wood stove. Maybe given small size, we should get it on Tiny House Nation.

Although told by PO that it might have been in RR caboose, got schooled by my RR retired Dad about a caboose stove having no legs and a need for a rim around the top to keep things in place. (Good info Dad)

topop101

Although my buddy Blue Frog gets planes/tools in original boxes around here, I'm lucky just to find them covered in rust!!!

Possible to find great stuff, but also very possible to miss great stuff, as I discovered recently when I went back to a sale on Sunday for the 50% day and found a number of things I would have paid full price for had I seen them on the first day. Nice scores at 50% off but who knows what else I also missed on the first day.:lol_hitti

Mitutoyo digital calipers never used $3

You get a nice "You ****!" for that one.

Things seemed to have slowed down tools wise in my area. Just been picking up an occasional item here and there at general garage sales and estate sales. I do know that I am liking those moving sales where people are moving long distances and are just trying to get rid of stuff.

Luxo magnifier lamp. I have been keeping a look-out for one of these. Fires right up. $15

IMG_0738_zpsbzpe5jmj.jpg

I've been looking for one of those lamps for years myself...Nice score.

Quick stop at the flea market today. Picked up this Coleman Peak 1 camping stove with the wrench. Needs a little cleaning up. Box says it sold for 32.50....I'm assuming around mid-85's?

It is something I've been wanting to go along with my lantern. Paid 10 for it...:dunno:

CT nice score on the stove! I have a number of small stoves and lanterns as I've been developing a compact camp gear setup for my Samurai (without going to Freeze dried...), and that is one of them.

Bought stuff at 3 different places yesterday, and 1 today.

First place I got something yesterday I spent a grand total of 2$

Screws and anchors package is pretty sefl-explanatory
Stanley Handyman ruler / half of a combination square, USA.
Fullers Drop Forged France pliers, never heard of 'em and had not tools made in France, now I do.

Second pickup yesterday was a TOO I passed by on the way to another sale

Tools are...
Gray Canada slip join pliers
Petersen 10WR Vice Grips, USA
Mercedes-Benz Dowidat 14 and 17mm combo
Fuller Robertson #0 Screwdriver, Canada
MasterCraft Pro Torx T15 screwdriver, Canada
Nicholson Canada wood rasp
Snap On 90 deg mini pick, USA
Gray Canada DOE
Bonney USA DOE
Billings USA DOE
Blue Point Supreme USA DOE
Makita drill index, Japan liked the way it looked so I picked it up, bits look new

Sale also had a wheelbarrow I was interested in but the family couldn't agree on pricing on any items. Got 4 different prices for it so I said screw it and left it there. Elderly father had just passed and his kids were helping their Mom sell off some of his stuff, they didn't seem to care much about anything just wanted to get rid of stuff. First guy said grab a handful of tools for 2$. He left and the guy I ended up dealing with said 4$ and I was fine with that, gave him 5$ for the tools and the B&D drill box. I have a B&D Matrix drill that came in a cardboard box, and the box is starting to rip apart, this will be handy.

Anywho, after stopping at that sale I went to the one I bought from yesterday and he was telling me that the deceased man's tools I had just bought was a good friend of his and he was a great carpenter. Got a few more things from him.

Got this Gray - Bonney Tools empty socket box for 5$, it had caught my eye the day before but I didn't pick it up. Didn't really want to pay 5$ for it but he wouldn't budge on any pricing and I'd never heard of the Gray-Bonney thing and tought it was kinda cool.

Also got a 1/2" drive Husky USA ratchet and 3 Gray Canada 1/4" drive sockets for another 4$.

Oh, also got these wireless speakers at another sale for 10$. I figure I'll put them to use either on my new (yet to be built) deck or inside the garage. Almost picked up an identical set on Kijiji earlier this summer for 40$.

Today I went to the weekend long swap meet that I forgot was on, few interesting things there but I didn't have the money for it, figure a lot of cool stuff had already gone by now since it started on Friday night. Stopped at another hoarders sale, nothing to see there... Next stop was the polar opposite, guy had one of the cleanest garages I've ever seen. Rubber mats in the alleys of the garage sale and all. Picked up this pretty darn good shape B&D Workmate 79-001 Type 2. Couldn't say no for 20$.

Ctyankee, My eyes aren't getting any younger so was on the look out for an older one..........USA made of course ! Got lucky spying it hidden amongst of the clutter at a pro estate sale

Digging the Coleman stove you got to go with your lantern. $10 seems fair and all that matters is your happy with it. All the Coleman stuff posted reminds me of using that stuff, in particular the lanterns, bullhead fishing as a kid at night with my late father.

ok Joe you are sucking up the place. Hallowell is one of my favorite stories of manufactures. I have a table or two my self. But not in that nice of shape or even close. Is the eron a 75 or smaller? Made in Japan aren't they? kind of a copy of a brit vise I think

Yes the Eron is a 75 and clearly a copy and yes it is Kapanese.
I know nothing about cabinets, I just liked this one.

I know this is the wrong ratchet for this craftsman underline logo box, so I was wondering what goes in it? I have a feeling it's a all BE set that is to go in there and I just might have it all. Can someone confirm this? Heck is there a online source for all of hte old craftsman catalogs?

You **** on that Gerstner box. It looks complete and in great condition!! It's rare the even see the leather handle in good shape!!

Pull out the bottom drawer and see if it's autographed and dated.

The box appears to be from the right era for the BE series. The correct ratchet would be an open gear marked BE. But they did have sets without the ratchet, only with the sliding T and/or flex head breaker. They came in a few different configurations.

Joe, that's a Union box, not a Gerstner. And it's still a great deal in that condition and style! Congrats and enjoy.

Bob thanks. About 1am this morning i realized it wasn't a Gerstner, i was dissapointed. Thanks for heading me down the right path I appreciate it.

I think the long C is the first craftsman logo. The BE series , from what I have read, is the first series of tools . Circa 1931. The BE tools I have has the long C on it like you can see in the remains of the decal . . I would say a BE series set would have came in that box. I think NB made this series but not positive.

I thought C-series (Snap-On made) predated BE.

makes me wonder. im not 100%. after BE didnt plomb make them for a a few years?

from what source you getting that SO was "C" series?

This is the best I've been able to put together so far:
