I think I can help you pin down the date of this anvil a little closer....
I know this thread is about great purchases, but I wanted to report my first sale from a pick. I bought this wrench with a couple dozen others in a metal box for $10 at an estate sale last summer. I just sold this one wrench for $16 on Ebay. Woohoo! This new hobby is already addicting - it helps that it could be self supporting too.
Yeah, I know many of you have been doing this for years and some are even making a living at it, but this was my first.
CL grab, showed up for $50. Guy held it for me and turned down higher offers so I gave him $70, he's supposed to call me when he goes through some more stuff.
Kennedy mid box and a bunch of Starrett.
SUCKSUCKSUCKSUCKSUCKSUCKSUCKSUCK. Damn that is a score and a half.
Went to a sale today and picked up a Stanley #6 hand plane. (Pics 1-3)
Then went back today on a sale I'd gone to the other day and picked up a few more things. (Pics 4-7)

What is in the small boxes on the right?Wow, my dream craigslist ad.What is in the small boxes on the right?
Was the one you passed on an Arm & Hammer anvil? The reason I ask is because there was another anvil brand ("Vulcan" anvils made by Illinois Iron & Bolt Co.) that used a similar looking arm and hammer logo, but that logo was raised because all Vulcan anvils were cast iron (and a lesser quality) than wrought-iron or cast steel anvils.
this is my find, I know it's not a tool, ****, I collect this type stuff, along with tools!
I found it on CL from a great seller in KY. I don't know the year or anything about it, it's huge!! I'll fiqure all this stuff later.

That changeable die is pretty cool! All these years and I've never seen one of those.
msgtsmithret:
That die is about the width of a hockey puck but thicker. Made by S. W. Card Mfg Co. of Mansfield Mass. It's a Paragon No. 14.
It's also the first one I've found as well.

Duro and Indestro continued to prosper during the 1940s and '50s, but by the 1960s appeared to be losing ground to other competitors. Sometime during the '60s the Indestro operations were formally merged into Duro Metal Products, and the tools began appearing with dual brands "Duro-Indestro". The tool lines were "harmonized", which unfortunately meant that some of the special higher-end features of the Duro-Chrome tools were dropped. The company continued operating through the 1970s and 1980s, and was finally closed in 1990.

Mike, I don't know if this unit has any type of sound, I doubt it.
The previous owner said he had it working! I managed to get a lense open and the bulbs are 10 volt, # 72.
Picked up this lot of mostly Craftsman some Bonney, Snap On and SK for $10.
Not a lot of sales here on 4/10/15, but here are the pics of what I got today.
You done good Blue. I guess you paid about $50 -$60 and I would have too. Those tools are (mostly) CLEAN.

The ones that got away...
Craigslist ad for "6 cool old (heavy) vises, taking up room in basement, $30 each"
The picture was a.......WILTON!!!!!!
The ad was less than three hours old. I lunged for the Gmail account and fired off a response, saying I had cash and could be there tonight. She answered pretty quickly that one guy was in front of me but that if he didn't respond to her email asking when he could come by, they were mine.
I checked the phone at every stop sign and red light on the way home and right before my driveway, I see this:
"He has not responded so they are yours. The address is...you can come by tonight or tomorrow" and then she texts this:

followed by "These are the Wiltons I have 6 and the two others are these"

I get inside and tell SWMBO the good news. When I sit down to look up the address on the map, I get this (8 minutes later):
"Ugh sorry my husband sold them to a coworker they just came and grabbed them sorry!"
:sad::sad::sad:
Arrrrgghh!! So close to major league suckage......[/QUOTE]If it makes you feel any better, their marriage won't last. Communication is the key.
