I bought 12 of these NOS hard handles still sealed up in plastic from the early 70s according to the seller...Pretty cool! And a few other things.
Nice, Snap on Yet.
Bubinga yes it's 20"W x 8.5"D x 18"T.
OK thanks, I messed it up, but you still was able to read it, I fixed it.

almost looks like it's made by Kennedy, but the pulls are different.
Thats Tall too, a lot of them were shorter.
Looks to be 16" tall or better.

EDIT AGAIN:dunno:
I'm a jag off, (Pittsburgh word.....LOL.....) you did say 18" tall..................:lol_hitti
I need to pay attention...................:eyecrazy:

Good score jawood, is that remnants of a craftsman sticker on that cantilever?

Btw, who you think you are coming in here showing us up in your first post?:beer:

Seriously though, thanks for posting!

Nine4, unfortunately the two orange stickers are remnants from the auction house. It looks like the original sticker was removed by a prior owner. Overall, it is in great condition. I think I will clean it and pass it on to one of my sons in a few years! BTW, Nine4, your project thread is one of the original posts that got me hooked on this forum! Soon I will start my own project thread and hopefully give you a run for your money. 😀

We seem to have a different way of running the sales round here. I have never had a number or list to get in. I have been asked to wait though. And I also know most of the companies and they know me, so whilst I don't get screaming deals I do get fair deals most days. I have also persuaded one guy to at least use eBay SOLD listings to price his stuff rather than asking prices.

Detroit area has a lot of estate sale companies. Almost always there are "street numbers" given out by the first guy there to keep everyone orderly. Sometimes there is a sign-up sheet. Numbers and sign-up sheets are just for the fist day opening.

Prices vary from company to company but it doesn't take long to weed out the over priced ones and avoid their sales. Most sales run 2 to 3 days with prices firmly as marked the first day, 20-30% off the second day and 50% off the last day.

Lots of driving today! Traffic sucked as they closed I-91 in VT for four exits...and as they say, cant get there from heah!

In any event I fell into this today. A Craftsman rotary cross slide vise...for $135. In phenomenal condition. Now here is the quandry...which do I sell? As you may remember I just last week I bought my Craftsman XY table, now I have two.

Both Craftsman, both really cool, one old school one new school. Both do the same job. Whichever I sell will get the vise heads mounted onto it. I really am torn and no I won't keep both.

So which is it? Betty or Veronica???? :lol_hitti

My pick would be the round one. It's got one more degree of freedom, and its just cooler than a plain-jane X-Y. Er, plain-Betty.

Were it me, I'd keep the rotary table. The two jaws don't make it a vise, and it's a lot more versatile than just the X-Y table.

I will mention one thing, though. Don't assume that you will use a drill press for any type of milling operation. It's not rigid enough and it's not designed to take the side thrust that milling requires.

Just picked this up today for $160. It's the 1.5 hp and 2 speed quick change version with 12" high re-saw.

After fighting with my Delta today I hate you and think you should ship that directly to me.

Wow! You ****

Thanks it was a score but the fat lady hasn't quite sung yet, I wasn't really able to test it or able to check if the wheels are coplanar and some of the bearing guides are frozen so hopefully after some work it'll start purring.

Having to fight your band saw is the worst.

When picking it up, he gave me a bunch of beautiful milled clear old growth Port Orford cedar, it's the most beautiful fragrant wood after it's cut, the whole shop smelled like it. (really strong ginger/lemon odor).

Reason I asked about the stickers, I'm on my phone and can't see pics as well as the big comp monitor. It's a common style, great for different sets of tools. I have one loaded with all dremel things and another full of air brush stuff. Other than being heavy as hell when packed, they are perfect organizers, I'm up to four now.

Glad you liked the projects thread, I need to get back at it! Be sure to link me to your thread when you start it, I love seeing what people are working on and looking for tips and tricks in their process.

Joe.... Dang dude. Idk wtf to say other than you **** the most this month, guaranteed!! If I weren't totally broke right now, I'd be all on that rotary table. As mentioned, don't think you'll be milling with the dp, if you don't have a mill or plan on getting one, you'd be better off with the xy table. I have one on my dp and it makes setup super fast and easy. With the rotary table, it's more about working circles. In the spirit of Gj, and to help me sleep better at night:p, please consider keeping them both.

The rotary was on CL for 11 days @ 200. It was in the middle of nowhere. He offered it at 135 so I had to buy it.

I just want it for lining up my drilling. Im working on small stuff all the time. Its funny I have been looking for these for a while and now I have 2. Ive already gotten PMs asking about it.

I think the rotary is new. No scratches and no wood or metal filings anywhere. In fact my biggest complaint is how damned stiff the handles are to turn.

It is phenomenally well made and it is really, really cool to use.

Technically those are for two different operations so Betty AND Veronica... :pimpflash

The rotary is for use in either a mill or lathe, the Atlas X-Y is designed for DP use.

So plan for a *********!

You stole that classic Wilton C1, you can sell it with another zero behind it. The jaws alone cost more than $30.

I believe this is what you need and made by a fellow GJ member:

Ah, sorry. I didn't get the vise, I overslept and got there a few minutes after the sale opened instead of 30 mins ahead like I should've. I had low hopes for the sale based on my previous experiences with that company's sales so I didn't push myself that morning. It had the sold tag when I saw it and I told the guy how jealous I was. I should have offered him some $ for the right to buy it like I did with the kid who found the plomb/proto stash at the next sale. Grrr. I stuck around so I could hear how much he paid and he paid quite a bit more than I would have, so I felt better about that. I think my excitement when I saw his pile got him (and the guy pricing his items :p) hyped up lol

for now i want to hold onto them but if i decide to let them go I will let you know first!

i would like to see your board, though! i saw one on ebay a while back for a lot of money and i thought it was pretty cool.

A real hodgepodge of mostly old USA tools from last weekend at two flea markets and estate sale.

Misc. wrenches and sockets: Mac, Williams, S-K Wayne, S-K, Proto, Columbia, Vulcan,PLOMB,Snap On, Hinsdale,Stanley,Cornwell, Barcalo + Williams unfinished wrenches.

Williams bullet shaped 1/2 drive impacts.

Penncraft 3/8 ratchet

Kelvinator refrig. wrench, Craftsman adjustable monkey wrench, Williams spanner, Utica offset screwdriver,

Some shelf/drawer liners for 25 cents each.

Craftsman catalogs and misc. tools from an estate sale. The real bargain I suppose was the Snap On #85 pliers for $1.00. I found them in the laundry closet with the little Utica pliers and Craftsman stuff..

Brand new Vise grips and Husky nut drivers were $5 each.
