So, this morning I was excited to wake up early to visit 7 planned stops. This is the first time in weeks (months) that I've had a choice of sales to go to. It was just like Xmas or Opening Day.
The first stop was a contractor's liquidation sale. I missed the first day due to family obligations, but I was hopeful that there were some good things left. Two things I wanted to try to snag were a Porta-Band and some Staging. Both were sold yesterday, as were many of the big tools. What was left were things I didn't need or were worn out. At first I thought I spied an 8" vise in the back, but when I got back to it, it was a chinese import.
BUT, hiding behind it was a Craftsman Block grinder on an original stand. I don't need another one (my 6th), but it went home with me anyway for $40. (pics 1 & 2)
Stop #2 lied about having tools.
Stop #3 was a guy I've been to before. He's an occasional picker that has a sale two or three times a year. He usually doesn't have much I'm interested in, but I always walk away with something. Today it was an un-named 2-1/2" c-clamp for $1. (top left of pic 3)
Stops 4, 5, and 6 also lied about having any tools. (Hmmm, sensing a theme ?)
Stop #7 didn't even open their doors or put out any signs.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to go to a sat. Flea Market just to get out of the truck for a while.
The FM wasn't too bad for a change. I found the following items at 3 different tables for a total of $8.
- Peterson/Dewitt 5WR vice grips
- SnapOn #A177 panel tool
- Homelite #A-92617 cast 5/32" chain saw file holder w/file
- Craftsman Crown Top "Hollow Set Screw Key Assortment" #46696 in blue pouch (complete)
All told, I spent
$49 and almost 100 miles in gas. It was frustrating.
It really annoys me when people list tools just to get someone to show up to look at their baby items. What happened to truth in advertising ?
