Some of the BS scores, (the first one is on the next post due to pic count)

A cool chime for SWMBO, (she loves this type of sound) for $3
attachment.php

The valves were Free at the place I bought the Chime at, all new and made in the USA!

The Pin Spanner was a buck.

And $5 for the See's Candy hammers, Snow Proof, and the little oil spout, which is marked "Bardahl" :pimpflash

attachment.php

So what in the world is a Sees candy Hammer? I can use my imagination but I'd rather hear it from someone who knows. . . .

Not much luck around here, but I did find this guy at ReStore for $.50. Anyone know the maker? Has a Plomb feel, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

Walden-Worcester tool company out of Worcester Ma. used to make those, or tools quite like those. Look at the pics on alloy artifacts page.

Great finds and great deals this weekend for so many of you! I had grand plans to head out with my two sons (7YO & 8YO), but the weather was drizzly, and a work deadline spilled over from Friday into Saturday morning. Oh well, there will always be another weekend coming up.

Scimonetti - Love the trimmer and the pile of spray paint cans! Also, if you were closer to me, I would send you a pile of turning blanks that big, every week, for FREE! Pieces that size are worthless for us, and either go into the burn pile, or the dumpster.

Dave FR - Killer deal on the RR anvil and lead ingots. BTW, What does one do with a lead ingot anyway?

Outlaw - You never cease to amaze me with the deals you find. Those Dorman boxes are awesome! I would have snatched them up in a heartbeat!

The Reveal -

:rocker: $150 !!!!!! :rocker:

EDIT - After a little jaunt over to VM, it looks like this is a rebranded Darra James Model 95 from the early to mid 1950's. I still don't know what model number Sear/Craftsman gave to it.

Very well done, Jake! I like hearing the stories almost as much as the finds themselves! This deserves a "You ****", and it's a well-earned one at that!

Sigh. Dry spell here outside of Boston. Next promising estate sale isn't until mid-June!!! Maybe I need to lower my expectations.

Great job to all the rest of you guys!

Some of my recent finds.

Pic 1: The little breaker bar is S-K. The top two ratchets were an unlikely find, two American Forge. The bottom ratchet is Upland Forge Taiwan, but it's a goofy Indestro knockoff so I grabbed it anyway. Screwdriver is SNAP oN.

The knife is a Puma made in Germany. It's rought but I paid about two or three bucks at a pawn shop. Less pawn shop complaints out of me from now on.

Pic 3: Just bought that today for about $25

Pic 4: Mixed socket set of S-K/Cornwell

Pic 5:The speeders are (top down) Craftsman, Giller, Williams, Duro.

Nice Knife! I like those Puma's!

I haven't been to a garage sale in at least a year. I think I may have to hunt some down, then I can actually contribute to this thread, rather than wish I had gone to a yard sale.

Went back out to the big block sale. Only a fraction were there and I think I only saw one that ran on Sunday vs. Sat. I wasn't a complete waste though:

First find was on a free pile! A workmate 200, and its in really nice shape! :bounce:

attachment.php

Second was a NOS heater core, claimed to be for a Ford, for a buck:

attachment.php

And one GS outside that Block Sale and near my house that was Sunday only, a foot massager for a buck - This one wil hopefully help SWMBO as she gets foot cramps from time to time (so do I but it seems to ALWAYS be when I'm driving...):

Workmate for free is a definite ****. I couldn't even put a price on mine. It comes out for all kinds of jobs around the house.

Now why do you ask such a silly question as to what to do with G-sale finds :lol_hitti!!!

Lead ingots can be cast into bullets, sinkers, hammer heads. They can also be sold to sailors for sailboat ballast.

Since I blew my tool budget for the month on friday, I was a little afraid to go to the flea market this morning. But I couldn't help myself and went anyway. I just couldn't resist, I needed my fix.

Fortunately, there wasn't much to tempt me this week. I did find a 1/2" number stamp set though. I paid $10.

That's quite a haul Scimonetti..

Nice Workmate Outlaw..

Flea market today...nothing much...but I had to buy something.:)

A dollar each.

P & C 5/8 - 9/16 wrench and THE WAYMOTH CORP 6 1/2 inch pliers.

Can't find much of anything on the pliers. They have 2 "stripper holes" grooved into the cutting portion. Not sure of what gauges yet. Anybody have any tools from this company?

Today, I picked a "soot market." I say "soot" market because, across from the flea, there was a gentleman cleaning out a rather large warehouse and I noticed some tools. The reason he was cleaning it out is because there had been a fire in the unit on the opposite end of the building. However, the smoke permeated the entire building. Long story short, he let me pick some of his tools. I ran everything under the parts washer to get rid of the soot. Everything was $41.

First pic is wrenches, left to right (in piles) are Vlcheck, P&C, Thorsen, Dayton, Wright, Penens, New Britain and Herbrand. Above the left to right row is Giller and the pile furthest on the top is all underline Craftsman.

Second pic, sockets, left to right. S-K, Indestro Super, Wright, Snap-on

Third / fourth pic, Plomb left, Bonney right, including another almost NOS A-702K ratchet. Couldn't believe it when the soot came off that one.

Fifth pic, Ratchets. S-52 x 2, Wizard, S-K, Fleet, Herbrand, Husky, Cman, Allen(which I got because I thought it looked exactly like a Wright I had and I couldn't read it), and an old 6 point ratchet.

Found this little guy at a FM this morning and decided to clean it up. It's embedded into an ingot of lead. Patent date 1885.

I picked these up a couple of weeks ago at an estate sale. They're marked "Hybar", and under that, "Bridgeport". I've never seen any like them. Are they somewhat rare?

Here are a couple of our finds from the weekend. I slept in and my wife went to a yard sale here before the rain started. Among the things she found was this 1969 Coleman U.S. Military lantern for $10.00. It looks like it will work but needs a mantle. :D

On Thursday, a guy I knew was on his way to Sears to get a ratchet replaced, he said that it was "skipping" when he used it. I saw it was one of the old 3/8 drive quick release ratchets and bought it on the spot. I oiled it and it works perfectly.

I know I can't keep up with some of the guys here but I look forward every weekend to going out and seeing who and what I can find. My girlfriend can only handle so much of me talking about the stuff I bought but dont need before she starts talking about vacations and hotels and jewelry, so here I am! lol anyways lets see if I can put up some pictures of the past couple weekends

this past friday:

20150515_094946.jpg
yard sale that turned out to be an estate sale, so I stood in line. Shed in the back yard, saw the 12" proto adjustable and grabbed that then started the search. I wasn't the first one in to the little shed but it seemed like I was the only one who was willing to get dirty. Dug through some boxes on the floor, passed up some old cman but came up with some sockets and pliers, the offset jaw pipe wrench and a little anvil that was really cool but I couldn't justify the space it would take up. Moved over to the other side of the shed and grabbed the wrenches, the SK Wayne breaker (with a square drive in the handle end) and the extension/adapter. Sockets are mostly proto with a couple snap on I think. Also found a BSA wrench with 4 sizes, thought it was pretty cool. Out the door for $17, and thats paying the marked $8 for that 12" proto

saturday went to a guy's sale that I went to last week, which will be documented in my next post. Got there bright and early based on my haul last weekend. Wasn't as rich as last time but still came away happy.

20150516_092747.jpg

I think I have a neighbor on here because someone posted some finds that had the same blue paint on them. Anyways..

plomb+proto chisels and center punch
proto pickle fork that cleaned up pretty nicely
vlchek 1 1/2" + 1 ?/??" DOE
some other wrenches, bonney 1" combo, proto 1 1/16", proto 1", others
some proto extensions, some plomb WF extensions
proto stud remover
cornwell flathead screwdriver
pliers I thought were plomb but I don't think so anymore
old snap on ratchet, s-71 i think? half inch
10" proto clik-stop
plvmb pebble 1/2" breaker
challenger 1/2" breaker
big C clamp

had basically all that plus a small 2 jaw puller and 2 snap on gasket scrapers in my pile.. 35$, same as last week. he said it was because of the "specialty" tools, meaning the puller and the picklefork and the snap on scrapers. got everything except the clamp, some small wrenches and the puller for $12. then on the way out saw the big boy impact, greasy and no markings other than a serial and "made in japan" asked how much, 20$. offered 15 he said no so I loaded my **** into the truck. thought about it for a minute and went back and got it. Told him Ill take it for 20 if you throw in some of my old pile. "How much of your old pile?" "the rest of it." I ended up paying an extra 3$ to include the c clamp and I walked away happy. As I drove off I realized I basically traded a couple very used scrapers for a big *** impact gun. works for me

Then on the way back hit a little yard sale (upper left corner of the picture), not sure if it was already picked through but I got 2 proto impact sockets, a couple drive size adapters and then this big hinged crowsfoot spanner wrench thing. paid $3 plus 1$ for a copy of blacks law dictionary (my 3rd). I looked up the part number on the tool and its for hydraulic cylinder gland nuts.

Not sure on the maker of this impact, maybe someone can help with ID?
20150516_092457.jpg
googled the model number engraving but came up dry.
I guess its not visible in the pic, but it looks like "clp 183" or "LIP 183" or CLF or something like that. hand engraved along with a name and some kind of serial or tool room stock number or something.

Nice purchase on the impact. When they get that big, it seems even the cheap ones get the job done. That doesn't look like a cheap one either.

Picked up a few things this weekend. It started raining at 9ish, so a lot of the sales closed up early.

Got this PennCraft 3013 box for $5. It was mostly full of junk but did have ten new hacksaw blades and some files in it.

Anyone know if the removable tray is original or if it was just thrown in there?
IMG_20150516_151712440_HDR.jpg

$10 chest of drawers that will be repainted and put in the spare room. Also got the box of paint for $1.

Oh I bet you will not only keep up with many guys here but surpass many as well. Welcome Debbie and, you can talk as much as you want about tools you bought here. We don't get tired of it, just keep including the pics.

Awesome job on the Workmate resto. I've beat up my cheap imitation one for many years and now have one of these on my target list for sales I visit. Hope to find a good deal similar to yours one day.

I posted this in the Workmate thread (under "General Garage Discussion), but as a garage sale find it applies to this thread as well

Picked up this early Workmate on May 1 at a garage sale for $15. This one happens to be the Model 79-001 (Type 2) with the cast-aluminum risers. These were sold in the U.S. for a short time around 1976.

It underwent a bit of a restoration to get it back into shape.

It looks great! Nice work.
