I missed the first day of this sale but the haul was pretty good.

Tap and die set $40 and $5 for snap on battery pliers x2, snap on vacuum hose pliers, snap on thermometer, and a homemade brass hammer.

Not pictured is a BNIB vintage eye shields for a grinder. I mounted them before I took this picture.

The made in Germany handle is the handle for a Two Cherries veneer saw.

two_cherries_veneer_saw__00223.jpg

CW, thanks for pointing that out. I went looking and dang, the "replaceable blade" costs near near as much as a new veneer saw! 10.98 vs 13.98...

No matter I'l use it for something.

Plastic organizer box with 3/8 MC clamps
10" Ridgid pipe wrench
10" Crescent adjustable
6" Canton Malleable Iron Co. adjustable (gonna have to research this)
Vermont-American pocket phillips
Old can of Liquid wrench

Super score day...first of 3 houses in a row owned by the same estate. Hope weeks 2 and 3 are just as good.

Today's basement (house 1) was a work shop of a gem & stone polisher hobbyist.

I landed a Dayton work lamp for $20.

A bunch of hand tools & miscellany for $20.

A drill press vise for $15.

And a cast iron surface plate for $30 (I tweaked my back a bit moving it which is why you don't get the surface shot).

I called my buddy about the super industrial polisher and he hopped on it for $175.

He also snatched a Branson Ultrasonic for $25 which I somehow missed. May have to head back tomorrow to see if prices have been marked down on the piles of raw materials and other stuff I don't need!

nice finds Chris!

The vise is actually a DP vise. I suppose you could clamp it to the table, but if you are doing that you might as well clamp the part...

Darrell,

That is a nice haul. My favorite is the thermometer.

Went to a Sales this AM and it was picked over. I found 6 - 6" steel rulers of various manufacturers. I asked for a price - she said $4.00 and I counter offered $3.00. She got insulted, said "Were all volunteers here for a good cause" in a pissy tone and put the rulers in her cash box.

:headscrat

At the second sale we found a nice 3 drawer lateral file in beige for $20.00. We got it out of the basement of the split level with help ($5.00 tip for him). No pics as everyone knows what a generic 3 drawer lateral file in beige looks like.

Cheers

In the UK that would be called a toolmakers vice, more likely to be used on a mill. Can be clamped down in the normal position or on it's edge which should have been ground to be exactly 90 degrees to the base.

All the better DP vises are ground that way. But I'd also be OK describing that as a tool makers vise. Just not a "mill Vise" - Not as a normal term.

All three for 50. With original manuals!
A craftsman block grinder
A skil 9" grinder
A craftsman sander
and some kind of weird extension cord

The guy had a hatchet looking lineman tool.
On the handle it said 20,000 volts.
Maybe jeffmoss can say what it is?[/QUOTE]

Got a pic?

Picked up a blackhawk jack. I think its a sj18r. I paid before I noticed that the frame was damaged and repaired. :( But it works, it held my f250 camper special.

You guys have been killing it for a slow, cold month of January!

I have not had any real shopping time,I've been fortunate to have sold some major items on CL to clear up inventory and make room and cash flow for the spring.
I spent yesterday taking a CCW class and in 8 to 10 weeks will be legally allowed to carry a concealed pistol.
I did use some of my tool money to buy a new personal protection device and did get a little range time before class.

My school seems to be cleaning out a few lab rooms, so I grabbed these two table tops from next to the dumpster. These are the heavy duty Fire-proof chemical resistant ones ( I believe) and probably each weighed 80-100 pounds. One is about 7' and the other is probably 6-10" longer.
Grabbed some cabinets as well. Not sure when I'll get to put anything together out of them but glad to have 'em for future use.

Definitely a "YOU ****" on that find - I had a job years back for a few months installing those countertops in labs. They weigh a ton and cost a pretty penny. They are, however, excellent material for a shop work table, so you done REAL good snagging them...

I have some of those tops salvaged from a lab too. How do you cut them?

Those tops are awesome, did you think to look inside the dumpsters for the cabinets? :)
