Went to estate auction this morning. Didn't stay for the whole thing cuz it was freezing but I got few things. Anyone knows what is the green vise, I don't see manufacturer anywhere? I don't have a picture of the other side but it has a lever to release the jaws. I did miss out on few SK socket sets still in the boxes but I was trying to get stuff that I can use. Payed $145 for the lot.

Northland mall Target store fixture sale (store closed) picked up these two blackhawk sets for $45 total. Large set missing an 8mm. Must have been store maint tools

OK, I managed to find both the Lineman's pliers and the Knife for the CS-34 telephone lineman kit in my stuff!

The knife is NOT marked "TL-29, but it clearly is one. Made by Camellus.

The Lineman's are a pair of 7-1/2" Kleins (201-7NE) without a date code...

I tried a 6" pair (Waht is reputedly in the CS-34 kit) and those were really, really, loose...

The sheath is also unmarked (seeing a pattern hear yet?)

So I'm thinking maybe these are all made on the Mil pattern for Civilian (Power Co.) use?

Anyway, this all requires pics, so here they are...

I picked up this small arbor press today and can't find any info on it. The only marking on it is the VLL on the base, it's 10" tall and 2 1/2" from the center of the ram to the column.

That looks shop made to me. It may have been a machinist's apprentice project.

Way to go, Outlaw! It's always fun to find something like that and then realize that you already have the pieces to go in it!

Yeah that's cool. I've seen those sheaths with US on the flap and I've seen plain ones, maybe some were made for commercial use or maybe it was just different manufacturers on the DoD contract. I'll have to check with dad to see if his has any markings.

Went to an estate sale yesterday. Beatcad and I came away with a little bit, but all in all it was a bit of a disappointment.

I got:
Proto 4011 puller set, missing one 4017 arm but otherwise complete. All the parts were there before the auction started, but missing the 4017 when I took delivery..........bastards!

Proto 6061 inch/pound torque wrench. I didn't have one of those! Also a Mustang 1/2" drive ratchet, an SO brake spring tool and a Wards speeder.

A couple Proto extensions that filled some more spots on my boards.

A roll of Easco wrenches, missing a few but I think the design on those are sweet. There were some stragglers in the pouch, including a Proto LA DOE. The other DOE's are USA but no name. They're very long. Anyone recognize the pattern?

A small box of mostly Easco sockets, a powerkraft ratchet, some Cman, S-K Wayne, etc.

The red tool box I got for $1. It is extremely heavy given it's size, built with heavy gauge steel but otherwise unidentifiable. Any insights? Rusty but small enough it can go into my blast cabinet.

Jeff, Nice find on the Proto punch and chisel tool roll! that should clean up well with SG. I have the same/similar roll that I bought NOS almost 40 years ago.

And those Proto punches ad chisels are first rate!

No sales, but we had a family work day at my wife's optometry practice. The tool box came with the store when she bought it and is full of a grab bag of good old Made in USA tools and Taiwan junk. My wife said I could have anything out of it I wanted, so I grabbed the neatest one tool: this pair of miniature Channellock pliers. Price: free, or 20 years of marriage, or the price of an optometry practice (take your pick ).

5" brass plumb bob with metal tip needed this for hanging my reclaimed turned columns.

Keystone Iron City grinding, cleaned and re greased the gear box and it works great.
20$ for both

Those hand grinders once properly lubed are amazing. Is your wheel concentric? I can't seem to ever find one that is actually round...

Went to the local "bargain barn" flea market yesterday and came away with this haul. 7/8 and 5/16 SK combos, 5/16 Craftsman and DuroChrome combos, 13/16 Hanson drill bit, Proto 3430 tappet wrench like new, SK line wrench, two Proto line wrenches (one is Los Angeles), a Tool Steel USA screwdriver, a Craftsman 14mm 6pt and 1" extension, a Kobalt taiwan wobble extension, a nutdriver for the USA handle, and a pair of 1/4 NPT ball valves to use for an air compressor drain line. Several have owner marks, but still, it was all for $18. It was a good day hunting and finding. Everybody keep looking, there's still plenty to be found!

The pliers are small because that set was issued to Signal Corps field phone linemen. They didn't work with power lines. Field wire is light weight but very durable because it has steel as well as copper strands.

Picked up this Craftsman 1/4 drive Master? set today it all SAE an all 1/4 drive. Looking for some info on it. I've never seen one this big with all these items. In the envelope are some plastic magnet holders. one of the bits need to be replaced, but I believe I have one. What is the vintage? No luck finding this set on the WEB.


Also picked up a Columbian 504 and a Reed 71 pipe vise. I'll post some pics of these in the vise thread

Yes it is very concentric surprisingly. I made a mount for it today to attach it to my work bench. Made from rough cut oak pallet 2x4. went a little crazy with the lags lol.

I'm thinking the Skillet is an ashtray. the raised lettering inside would give you fits, (unless you wanted "FURNITIRE BY CHRISTY'S" on a burger, - mirrored...)

Also the handle is convex, so it can hold the cigarette or cigar.

I thought it was weird- I'm just going to soda blast it when I get back to Ohio, and just hang it somewhere.

I could do like McDonalds with those syrup type infused breakfast sandwiches, with the M stamped in them, and have a mini bun type hamburger sandwich!!!

Went to a used tool store that was unfortunately going out of business. Picked these up for $25

S-K 3/8 drive sockets in the front.
Craftsman 3/8 drive and one 1/2 in rear

A stud finder made by Irwin, Stanley T bevel and Vlchek chisel.

And a nice pipe clamp. No marking other than Made in USA.
