Yard Sales 4/3/2015--1 of 2

Just a couple of yard sales in our area this week, but the big find was found at the curb waiting for trash collectors. A Weber Spirit-E 210 LP Bk C.I. grill from 2009. Only thing missing was igniter. Pics 1-4 are after some heavy cleaning. Was able to light with match and as can see from 4th pic, temp above 500 degrees, so burners working efficiently.

At a yard sale, did get a Vintage Bedrock 605 hand plane (pics 5 & 6) plus an unknown maker hand plane with the only markings being the Made in USA and "3" underneath it, then on back of lever cap a U and a number 10. Frog is lightweight and made out of formed bent metal. (Pic 7)

Went to an auction yesterday. Got an old Rem Line triple stack, a very old Snap On chest, and an S-K tool chest. They were all full. Here's also some of the stuff that was inside. I'll post some more contents in the next post.

If that box could talk... their is some history behind that one!

Yeah, no kidding! I've already sold most of the Pontiac decals to a friend up in NJ that collects SD 455 birds. I had to keep a couple, "just in case," but I thought they should go to someone that will use them.

Looks like some good stuff. How much were the boxes? What does the snap on super chest look like on the inside?

Some awesome finds there guys. twertsy that's a nice Rimline. I have the top. Wish I could find the rest. Keep up the good finds guys.
Scooby,
I have two of the middle sections, recently found at estate sale. I have been trying to decide whether to make room for them, or sell them.

If you really want them, I could PM you dimensions and more photos. Very nice shape.

I paid $405 for everything. Bought a bunch more than just the boxes though. The middle / top Rem Line was $80, then got the roller for $50. The SO big cabinet was $50. The SO badge I found inside the box when I got it home. I paid $20 for the S-K, and $20 for a small SS carry box but only bought it because it had an old Plomb breaker bar and a New Britain 1/2" ratchet inside. SO box is well used, and has been brush painted but everything works/slides great. It might show up on the table at my swap day.

Will you please take a picture of the snap on box open? What badge style does it have? I'm curious as those super chests aren't extremely common.

Here you go. First pic: box open. Second pic: drawers open. Third pic: full badge I found in the top tray, fits the holes perfectly (I have it in the mounting holes in the pic). Fourth pic: appears to be a "stick-on" badge that was broken in half when removed.

Nice Snap-On box Twersty, I'd like to get one like that so I had more drawer space. Could you get pics of drawer contents? Nice score!

Cool, thanks. Very early 70's super chest. They only produced that box with that emblem for ~2 years towards the end of the run for that box.

arm and hammer anvil, 208 lbs, took me 2 hours of haggling and shooting the **** to get this from a local older gentleman who originally had over 100 anvils. He is now down to only 14 of his best ones. he said he wasnt going to sell anymore but he finally did. I heard about him from a friend so I had to call a few times then drive up into the mountains an hour or so to get it.

I know very little about anvils, does this one have a plate welded to the working surface or is that just a detail line around it? Just curious

Edit:I assume it's just the paint/casting flaw but it strangely looks like it's been welded around it's waist as well, as if it had been snapped in half :-/

Made between 1935 and 1938 in Columbus Ohio, USA.

Yes they were originally made with a top and bottom piece; earlier ones were forge welded together, later ones were arc welded together, I have a later one. The hard working surface face is forge welded on original from manufacturer.
the top and bottom pieces are forged also not cast
I dont know much either so if anyone on here knows anymore information post it up

Cheers for that info, it's very interesting to know. Being forged it should be incredibly strong :)

Stopped at Flea Market on 4/7/2015 and got older hand tool items in pics 1 & 2.

Then stopped at Moving Sale and they had a Peerless Tap (pics 3 & 4).

I know this thread is about great purchases, but I wanted to report my first sale from a pick. I bought this wrench with a couple dozen others in a metal box for $10 at an estate sale last summer. I just sold this one wrench for $16 on Ebay. Woohoo! This new hobby is already addicting - it helps that it could be self supporting too.

Yeah, I know many of you have been doing this for years and some are even making a living at it, but this was my first.
