Twertsy, that Baldor is VERY old. (115V...)

Probably unsafe as hell too! So in the interest of keeping a GJ brother safe, ship it to the "unsafe tool disposal site". PM me for an address!

Those pliers look like the Uticas I have and they are old linesmans pliers. If its a Utica it will have three small diamonds on the side (usually close to the pivot) with U in one, ti in the other and ca in the last one and the handle will have a checked pattern.

No logo that I can see, handles are smooth, so maybe they "borrowed" the design for these. Either way I do like them. They have some nice smooth lines.

and lastly.............

- old Baldor grinder--- works great
- Snap On vise 5" jaws
OMG That vice and grinder are cool, Is the vise a re-badged Wilton?
What is the starter wrench looking wrench brand. I think l might have the very same wrench?
See attachment.

Outlawmws,
LOL:bounce:

l thought it was sort of cool looking. It is a porcelain type of material.
1st thing l thought was file handle.
Probably end up getting broken in the shop. LOL

May as well just make the comment here, instead of starting a new thread for just one comment. (Well might make a good thread, but pretty sure it's been done before.)

I sold my Delta sander today. Young couple from Morgantown came down to get it...............................................................
So refreshing to see this guys wife being supportive of his tool hobby,
and Not constantly busting his ***
, and saying stuff like,
"Don't you have one of those"? or "I don't get it,"
"What do Y'a need that for" or, "Why do you need 2 sanders,"?
Like the woman I always ended up with, giving me a hard time about looking and or buying tools. Or busting my *** when I was in a band, cause I brought a guitar, when I was the keyboard player.
"You don't know how to play guitar" (Thanks for all your support Bi&@#)
He was telling me he has a big old 16" wide, X 77 some inch Jointer,
and a Big old camel back drill press with the back gears, and auto feed,
and they went on all these road trips, to Like The DC area for one, for one of the tools.

Only found a few sales today. An indoor flea market and one garage sale were the only ones with anything good. Everyone is selling mainly baby clothes, toys and shitloads of junk Christmas decorations.

Got these Craftsman metric sockets and wrenches. Some of the sockets appear to never have been used. $2.
2015-05-02%2012.18.25.jpg

The other garage sale was all kinds of stuff. Lady running it handed me a box and told me I could fill it for $5 so I started digging around and found some stuff.

Husky, Barcalo, and Proto wrenches. Also a strange Billings "S" wrench. The sizes stamped on it do not match the actual sizes. Whitworth? Also an SK spark plug socket.
2015-05-02%2012.21.33.jpg

Cal-Van hex key set. Missing the 3/8 but I have a cigar box of randoms and there must be at least one 3/8 in there.
2015-05-02%2012.21.56.jpg

General brand circle cutter.
2015-05-02%2012.22.18.jpg

Irwin adjustable hole cutter with 2 sizes of cutters for a bit brace and a new EZ out.
2015-05-02%2012.22.55.jpg

Stainless pocket caliper (with a few splotches of rust), Brand new S-K 8mm wrench and a Champion pocket screwdriver with a magnet on the back.
2015-05-02%2012.23.43.jpg

And finally the misc stuff.
Lead ladle with all thread handle. The handle bent like warm butter so I just tossed it. Will have to make a new one. Full box of NM-B staples, Big old hinges, screw in hanger hoooks, a voltage tester and a turnbuckle.
2015-05-02%2012.24.58.jpg

The box was bursting at the seams! I was determined to get as much as I could for that $5:D

And finally an "OEM" brand oil filter wrench for $2

Good idea on the fireplace handle. I think I have a partial set of FP tools somewhere.
It was a small womens shoe box, so yeah It probably looked pretty funny with all that crammed into it.:bounce:

2 disappointing stops and a FM today. The estate sale that advertised "lots of tools" had an empty basement with leftovers hiding in the corners. The YS that said they had "many automotive tools" only had 1 pair of car rollers priced above retail, worn out tires, and some dented fenders. The flea market was a bust as well.

The cheap chinese import gloves were $5/8pr at the FM.
The rest came from the basement of the first stop. I paid $10 for 25lbs of lead and a small cast body dolly from a cheap Taiwanese set. I left the cast hammers for someone else.

I usually do better with $15, but sometimes frugal doesn't happen. :dunno:

Another FM and one or two stops planned for tomorrow, maybe I have better luck.

I was figuring that I would see some post from the NJ contingent about a sale I went to today. My wife found it in the paper and online and reminded me several times to go to the HUGE TOOL SALE today. Keeper!

Normally any sale with adjectives on the signs like HUGE or AWESOME should be charged with false advertising, but the one I went to today was telling the truth.

They had TONS of older Craftsman wrenches and various mechanics tools. There was what appeared to be a metal working shop in the garage - lathe, horizontal band saw and some other large equipment I didn't recognize.

They had a large anvil (for $450 - :( ) and some other stuff. I walked around and didn't see anything I needed until I saw IT. There was a 75" x 30" butcher block table top leaning up against something with a $15.00 sticker on it. I saw the apparant owner of everything, confirmed the price and almost hurt myself getting my wallet out.

I went back with a van later to pick it up and when I walked up carrying a 4 wheeled dolly he grinned at me and said "That's cheating". I replied "I want to be able to walk upright when I reach your age". He replied "Yeah- without tripping over your balls". I got it in the van and it's in my garage right now. It probably weighs 200#'s.

It has a longitudinal split between 2 boards in the exact middle of the top. I might need some guidance on fixing that. I has 3 sets of caps along the 75" side indicating threaded rod running across the top. Do I glue, cawl and clamp it back together without fussing with the threaded rod or tighten the threaded rod too?

I'll post pic's later.

Cheers

Jim

If it indeed has a threaded rod, I'd tighten that also. usually those wood caps can jack out with a wood screw and be replaced. Nice find, looking forward tot he pics!

I have so many of those randomly found loose allen keys that I could probably make 10 complete sets If I ever felt like sitting down and organizing them all.
My haul today included one, but I didnt even bother counting it or taking a pic because it is so rusty that it might have been in the OEM tool kit on the Titanic.

I'm seeing a lot of great scores here. Slow going here. I spent a grand total of $16 at a couple of sales, after looking at a lot of stuff I didn't want.

First Pic :

3 Dunlap straight ratcheting box wrenches (not reversible)
2 Crescent 6" Adjustable Wrenches
Proto 6" Black Oxide Steel Adjustable Wrench
Snap-On Vacuum Grip Slip-Joint Pliers
Wilde 5" Adjustable Pliers
Champion Brass Sprinkler Head Spanner Wrench Tool
Mini oiler
Channellock 6" Needle Nose Pliers
P&C 3/8" Drive Ratchet
10" Stillson Wrench
Pegboard Screwdriver Holder
Craftsman Router Depth Gauge
Old Blue Point 3/4" short combination wrench
VLChek 3/8" & 7/16" double box-end wrench
Vaco Magnetic 4-Piece Screwdriver Set

Second Pic :

Akron Bin assortment of nuts and bolts, but assorted goodies in six of the drawers. This had a $3.00 price tag on it. This sale was chock full of low-end, overly-used tools, so I was surprised to find this.

Bunch of #30 drill bits. Assortment of different style drill bits. Taps. Screw extractors. Mostly wood-bore countersinks. Decent assortment of Grobet HSS burs in good shape. Zephyr # ZT330 CounterSink, MicroStop Cage with assorted cutters.

Picked up an early 1940s Craftsman belt driven two speed ball bearing grinder and a huge usa made c clamp $20 for both

At another stop I got a large lathe face plate two mac prybars and a kd inside/outside retaing ring pliers for $15 total. Plan to repurpose the face plate since it is 16" in diameter.

Last stop I got two articulating lights for $5 each ( only one pictured both the same), an interesting small well built vise $1 and a free piece of steel which will make a nice bench block

My grandfather has that same steel cylinder in his shop. He uses it to keep the doors closed on the woodstove.

It was nice outside on Saturday but looked initially like all I was getting was supplies for the shop/garage.

See pics 1 & 2

Then I hit on some old tool items. Pic 3 shows a little Scout Vise, Russell Jennings Auger Bits in Russell Jennings box. Pike's Washita oil stone in wooden box and a very small anvil. Add'l pics of anvil are in pics 4, 5 and 6.

Then I saw a picture by David L Abel of an oil derrick and so had to have it. Pic 7.

Gear head: Wow! nice scores! looks lien the grinder head is a 30's or early 40's craftsman, and the little vise appear to be a Colten Pattern Vise. Very old, and a great find for a buck!

I've been on the watch for an oversize lathe face plate. I want to make a work shop table out of it... Nice find!

Good stuff. That's a big clamp. Nice vise. And that grinder is great; are there are markings on the grinder (model et al)?

I hit 3 estate sales yesterday. One was a tool frenzy. Cheap prices tons of tools which led to too many guys in one tiny little basement area. I think I made out pretty good though. Got all these hand tools and more odds and for about 30 or 40 bucks. Too much to list and I didn't sort them all yet.

Lots of old Western Auto brand tools were kicking around there though.

At the other sale little Parker Vise was $8.

The second best deal of the day had to be the Kennedy Chest and middle box for $16.

$12 for the chest and $4 for the middle.

I say second best because a 90's Snap On top chest sold for $20 to one of my competitors. He ran for it like Supermarket Sweep when they let us in. I was the next guy in :headshake Check out the picture of what I just missed! I went for the Kennedy set or he would have went for that next.

Always nice to pick up supplies on the cheap, but the tools you found are great. And I love those old wooden boxes; I usually try to grab them. .

Went to a couple of garage sales. The first one was the only one that had anything. Lots of guitars and amps as well as older stereo equipment and computer equipment.

Only hand tools that were there looked like they were left outside for a couple of years and were slowly returning into the elements they were constructed with

Did manage to find this though. Black and Decker Wizard Dremel Tool with variable speed. Brand new and never opened. $10.

I wasn't too upset about just missing the Snap On box because of this Craigslist find during the week. My very first Snap On box, but I was kinda hoping for the instant upgrade :lol_hitti . I never seem to spot any where price and condition are both okay.

Honestly I pretty much bought this sight unseen. No CL photos, but I did ask a few questions over the phone. I wasn't impressed with the condition but the seller was an old curmudgeon and haggling didn't seem appropriate,so for 60 bucks this is what I got, KRA-58:

I picked up this wilton vise off of craigslist today. It also came with these two adjustable blocks not too sure what they are for but for $30.00 for everything wasn't a bad deal.
