I was just going to say that's a reprint, I have a 1929 or so reprint that I got suckered for $10-15 I think a while back. I thought it was an actual old catalog until I got home and saw the date inside...

Still real cool find, I'd like to have the full set of reprints myself.

It is NOT a snap on. Herbrand maybe. Can't recall of the top of my head. :

I've had a couple and currently have a folding top herbrand. The handle on the inner tray looks fimiliar. Not sure if herbrand built there boxes or were sourced out. Ill look at mine tomorrow after work.

That little gizmo counts revolutions. What was it used for - TIA:

check the rpm on a lathe or mill

With a time piece, it can be used for that, but not the general application. I'm also told they were used like that long ago to set rpms on things like pto driven farm equipment or line shaft equipment.

It was mostly intended for counting wraps on electrical coils of various types. Or anything where you want to keep up with the exact revolutions (wraps) without counting.

I am sorry, l can't find my post, but that starter wrench is the same make that the fellow said his was. Thought that was funny in a way.

Herbrand is very close, but I didn't see any red boxes on google. But what I did see is Cornwell that has the same style but in red. Only thing that throws me off is the square-ish top lid.

Need to put some simple green on it and see if i can get the paint splatters off of it. to see if i find a outline of a old name tag somewhere. The black is painted over letterings that says "STAY OUT" lol

Very good score on the vise. The lettering is often hard to read. Around the slide on the static jaw is "Pat June 16, 1885". On the dynamic jaw is "Phoenix", and on the end of the leadscrew is stamped the model number. I can't read yours, but some models are 1 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 3/4, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. Jaw size ranges from 1" to 2 1/2". (there may be others; these are the ones I've been able to lay my hands on.)
Too bad the table clamp screw isn't original on yours, but they were cast iron batwings, and easily broken. For a buck, I sure would have snapped it up!

And I finally caught Outlaw in a typo (I know he knows the correct name). The Patent holder is George Colton, not Colten.

...and I see Outlaw corrected himself in a later post.

Some recent sale and auction buys...few and far between around here.

I think I spent about $50..really only got screwed on one of the 1/4 sets (middle larger green in front). I thought it was SK but its not....dang dark estate sale garage!

Thanks. Now the Phoenix is clear as day. The jaws are 1 5/8 in wide. I bought it because the leadscrew was covered so I knew it was well made.

Not a garage sale score, Found a deal on craigslist 15, 4x8 sheets of slot wall, enough to cover the back wall of my garage Plus 60.00

It will save me 20-30 hours of patching and sanding the existing drywall. Plus give me tons of places to hang stuff.

here's the 3/4 dr stuff. sk rat and tbar, snap on ratcheting adapter, wright , trw extensions, sockets are bog,blackhawk,snap on, sk, cornwell.

Someone probably chopped the breaker bar to get a tight fitting cheater pipe on.

Went to a sale this morning (5-5-2015) and picked up the following:

Looks like you hit the jackpot. Nice drill. Great deal on Knipex and Williams. That length ratchet is nice; I have a 15" Proto ratchet that I like. Wish I could find a pawn shop around here with those prices.

No big deal, but here is the clock I got Saturday for 50 cents.
It's pretty cool.
It can hang on a wall, or sit on a counter.
Still have to set the date.
Think it will go in the shop.

It should set it's own date and time, I think it's supposed to sync up with a time signal transmitted from Colorado.

That was an unusually cheap price on that drill, it makes me wonder how much they must have paid the poor sap that sold it to them. It was the only thing that I really needed as my 3/8 Milwaukee holeshooter 0222-1 went down. It was a great drill the only thing wrong is the switch and its NLA from any parts vender I can find. I found the switch from a guy on the Bay for 59.99 plus shipping..... so if any one wants a good parts drill send me a PM.

Yesterday (Tuesday ) a lady friend of mine who is selling her house ask me if I wanted to go over and "pick" an old barn on her property.
She said she didn't really know if there was anything I would want, but I said "Sure, I'll check it out."

This lady is 65 yrs old and she has lived there many years.....her two daughters have lived there at different times.....and multiple renters/tenants throughout the years too.

She said I was welcome to take anything I wanted....to keep or sell....So.....

Wasn't a lot there (tool wise ) but I found a few things!

Hose reel, yard basket w/wheels, small metal table, motor for pool/jacuzzi/whirlpool tub, 2 reflective barricade cones (?).....



3 string trimmers in various states of dis-repair (I'll sell these as a single lot on craigslist)....



1 pool ladder or pontoon ladder (craigslist also!)....



Major find of the pick.....Victor Firepower 250 series medium-duty Oxy/Acetylene rig with a Smith Little Torch attachment.....WooHoo!



Once I get it cleaned up I'll offer it up here for a small price

looks like a cornwell slector on that craftsman ratchet.

JM, nice find on the torch set, love the little guy! Did you clean the torch up or was it that clean already? I've read that you gotta be careful with what you clean them with, some things can cause explosive reactions when combined with gas mixtures!

Nice find but looks like they are missing the spark arrestors, If you are up for selling them, hit me up with a PM. No need to clean them up for me.

Here's my Wednesday flea market finds...

It was hot and 12:30 (everyone at this flea market usually starts packing up and leaving around this time ) when I came upon the nice (my age) couple getting ready to leave....I paid $2 for the 2 wench racks and the 8 sockets you see directly under the wrenches and then struck up a conversation with the guy (He was a woodworker and musician like me) and as we were talking his wife started "adding" stuff to my bag.....



She said she didn't want to drag all this stuff home (which I was glad to take it off their hands )
In the stuff she didn't want were a 1/2" and 9/16" 3/8"dr Snap on sockets and 2 neat little short 1/4" dr sockets....just barley enough height for the fastener head and the ratchet drive....in fact I think the ratchet's drive would probably scar the top of the fastener! .....Kewl
They're stamped 3/8" and a 7/16" and U.S.A. and that's all, no other markings



Well we talked for about 15-20 mins and by the time I left I was leaving with the rest of the stuff they didn't wanna tote home....
A box of cheap taiwan "homeowners use" sockets (there were 4 craftsman and 1 S-K socket in the mix), some kind of funny looking pliers, and a big plastic jug!!



My last stop before I got home was a yard sale where I picked up these items for $1.50 (dang near as much as I paid for all that other stuff )



The pliers say "forged in USA" on one handle and "made in USA" on the other....no other name or markings

No, I haven't cleaned on them yet.....and yes I have heard about being careful with how and what you use to clean them.
I'll probably just wipe everything down with soap and water sparingly....just enough to make them presentable for sale.

Yeah, the little guy is "Y'd" off the regulators.....I wonder if it uses the same pressure as the torch end?......maybe I'll post this question to the wielding/brazing/cutting guys.....

Picked up this Reelcraft airhose and reel yesterday. Works great, $30. Also picked up the handtruck here. 8" aluminum wheels with grease fittings $20. Last item is a complete floor standing 1940s Delta Rockwell drill press, no motor, that I got for $20.00. I plan to part it out, unless I can find a guy locally who will pay $40-50 with plans to restore it. Guy is delivering it Saturday.

Went out today looking for old tools, but ended up with a pair of GE LED Pedestrian Signal with Full Person and Full Hand on a 16 x 18 module screen. There is also the cast push button activator included as well. The Model is PS7-CFC1-26A2.

Then two ice picks, with one advertising Orange Crush carbonated beverage
and other being for Modern Ice.

Hoping tomorrow will be different.
