I'll give this thread a try...

Responded to an ad for grinder. When I got there I ended up also getting an older industrial workbench and a hospital drug cart. The workbench needs a new paint job but its super heavy duty and pretty sweet. For some reason there is an older doorbell button on the front right leg and whoever used it was infatuated with taping notes to the upper shelf with scotch tape. There is probably 100 pieces of it still stuck there.

The grinder - a sweet early 80's Missota made Rockwell 1.5hp 10" bad boy with a nice pair of Baldor light up eye guards.

The drug cart is awesome. It will be perfect for nuts and bolts. Each of the full width drawers can pull out to either side and each has 5 half length (they go to the middle of the cart) plastic trays that you can just lift out and carry to your work. A total of 60 trays that are about 5" wide x 10" long x 3" deep. Also has one big deep bottom drawer and a funky lock that you step on a pedal to lock it and all the drawers lock. There was also a sticker in one of the trays that makes me laugh every time I open that drawer. I think I'm going to leave it in there. :lol_hitti

Anyways all three items for $350.... not too bad. :)

Mix man, there is something wrong with your images. they are not posting here or in the grinder thread.

Try it this way in advanced posting and at step 5 copy it into the URL field after hitting the "postcard" button):

OK, I found the maker on this unmarked 1/2" drive ratchet I got today. I actually had to look no further than my drawer of old ratchets! It's a Walden; I have 3 (at least) in 3/8 drive and the basic design is the same.

Hey Jeff, ever seen one of these before? It cleaned up pretty nice from what it looked like when I bought it. This is one of the last couple of items I bought this morning

Shiny chrome...

Here is the other "big" item I grabbed this morning. Excel power hacksaw that was used for wordworking instead of metal. It's got a fine layer of oily, grey sawdust in every little crevice that is gonna be a pain to remove and clean it up:beer:

My second stop was a total bust, Guy did have a set of snap on weather head sockets, They were in rough shape and he wanted 70.00 for the set. I passed. I hope I didn't pass up on some thing I should of gotten. Don't have any of them, but have not ever used one either...Rich

Wow BC, that is NICE!

Here it is before.

I also grabbed about 7 different Gillette double edge razors at the house. They were all over like Easter eggs. I've never seen so many in one location before and there were some nice ones.

I might end up going back tomorrow to dig some more but we will see what the schedule is like.

You guys are scoring great this weekend!!

Made in England set of measuring squares $5

Dave...others scored great?! No sir, you scored great! And that is an understatement! I am so drooling over those measuring squares. The more I woodwork, the more I appreciate a well made square or measuring tool.

Keep up the great finds!

Stopped at one and got $20 worth. Nothing to brag about but a few extras never hurts. There was one Snap On wrench in one of the boxes.

Finally. I found a wooden machinist box that I can afford. Nickel/brass hardware, solid construction. It's old, handmade, and needs some love. $20.

Went to an estate sale today, scored a few goodies.

I'd be interested in an approx value on the creeper and sockets and torque wrench.

1. Craftsman crown top creeper. $7 ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431227612.335423.jpg

2. Bnib never used 1/2 beam torque wrench, original sales receipt Included! $20! $.05 more than than the original owner paid ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431227649.539069.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431227781.740651.jpg

3. Two sets of Mac sockets, 3/8 were $7.50 and the 1/2 were 17.50 I believe. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431227760.419125.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1431227769.672286.jpg

BC yours is a duplicator; I have had this one for a couple of decades at least; I thought you and Jeff would be interested. It was bought at a Flea market back then, so just late getting it posted! :lol_hitti:

It is setup for 4 key blanks, and you rotate the key holder on the head for which one. It is setup for Hurd Yale, Yale Jr, and B&S.

Spud, that Creeper is worthless, you should send it to me for recycling... :spit:

Seriously though, good score and without looking at "sold items", I would think $50-100 or so to the right guy, a lot less to normal techs. The torque wrench is nothing special because they still sell that style and those are about the only Craftsman torque wrenches with a free calibration/lifetime warranty. All in all, you did very well, thanks for posting.

Thunder, read what Outlaw posted above, cool find!

Bigcaddy, you rocked it as always :rocker:

Well - you paid $7 for yours, and I paid $4 for mine last summer.
So, I'd say the value is somewhere around $5.50. :lol_hitti

Nice find. The graphics on yours look almost new.

Haha that's fair, slightly bummed on the torque wrench. Paid two dollars less than retail now haha. But that just means I'll actually be using it. I'll keep the old box in good condition though!

Yeah, I can't wait to start working on that box. I've looking for one of those for two years. It was worth the wait. The guy who sold it to me gave me eight strawberry plants. He was just giving them away.

man o man what a deal today. got 55 bucks in it all from a couple different sellers.
big wrenches all usa named brand minus one evercraft but its technically still name brand not usa. not sure what year the red craftsman is. weird drawer pulls. dont know if its 60's or 80's could be a toss up.

2 wizard circ saws with wizard blades. i bet they are original to the saw. the craftsman crown top is in a little better shape. seller said they run but he couldnt gaurantee them idk what im going to do with them. not sure if its worth trying to sell or just keep cause they are so cool.

all the usa tools are to the left of the mac breaker bar. china stuff to the right.

The truth is, I don't think there is much value in the old creepers anymore. New ones of the same style are cheap, and if someone doesn't want to spend the money, it's easy enough to make your own from some plywood, 2x4, and castors from a dead office chair picked up on the side of the road.

Any value that there is, is in the graphics. Collectors like them for the nostalgia value to use as wall art (that's where mine will end up). The creeper that I use is a plain one I pulled out of someone's trash 30yrs ago. And even then I usually leave it and scoot under the truck on a piece of cardboard. :dunno:

As for the torque wrench - My grandfather used that same model for 50yrs without any problems. It's a Crown Top and just made the move to the box in my shop, where I plan on using it and then passing it on to the next guy. Who needs bells and whistles when for less money you can use proven technology that won't need a new set of batteries or calibration EVERY time you need to use it. For $20 with a pristine old cardboard box you did just fine.

Don't be bummed Spud, at least it has the lifetime warranty. If you would have paid $2 less than retail on the click type, then you could feel bummed.

This ^^^

I had one similar and they are **** creepers to begin. I have since found and restored one that is older than I am by far, and while it works great, I'm with Jake cardboard; it works even better, and I've recently found an even better material!

I had an apartment door get soaked outside and the plastic laminate peeled off; what to do with it? I needed a sheet of cardboard for changing gear oil and there is was in the way, its REALLY smooth and I slide even better, and it does NOT soak up any oil drips; they just wipe up/off!

So I have that for a large sheet and added to it a slide sheet from a scrapped treadmill and that works well also!

So all in all, the logo is the only thing going for it, and for a select few people at that. You have to find the right buyer...

Yeah that one is sort of unique isn't it? and it was made that way factory, not a mod...

Sorry, but that one has found a home, along with my 2 handed wood handled 3/8 drive "Nut driver" handle I found a year or so back. I think those two are the most unusual drive tools I have.

Both very cool tools! I did some digging to help jog my memory. For those who haven't seen this thread it's a fun thread See Post # 8:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226622

I didn't know OTC made a half speeder. Using Snap On's half speeder on AA as a reference I'd say the OTC is probably 30's as well.

Richard Cranium, I think those tools might scratch your Jeep hood so just to be on the safe side pack them all up and flat rate them over here

Definitely enjoyed seeing the items you folks picked up this weekend. Also, Scimonetti's turned bowls were beautiful to see.

Saturday, picked up a Danielson 8 in and Proto 10 adjustable wrenches, along with an Irwin No. 22 micro-adjustable expansive wood bit.

Couple weeks back, picked up the little red anvil, but this week got a much smaller one and so added to collection.

Crown top:

Believe it or not, this might be my favorite tool in the whole bunch. This will be my go-to scriber from now on..

I also stopped at a few thrift stores while SWMBO and the in-laws were furniture browsing.

Got a Klip-Lite for $4.** at Goodwill..

And lastly are 4 Cincinnati C-clamps for $3.**, because we all know what they say about C-clamps..

I prefer scrap linoleum flooring for doing oil changes and under car work. It cleans easily and it has a foam feel to help pad the floor a little bit. Something else to try if you hadn't!
