I have cherished a Hazet or Hory tool caddy since I first saw one posted on GJ.
I happened on a tool sale a few blocks from my home and found this jewel.
Couldn't believe it when the guy told me he wanted $20 for it. He said he has had it for around 65 years.
Awesomeness!
Gave him $5 for the USA thread dressing kit as well.
Some TLC and the Hory Company Ltd. Caddy will be good for another 65 years.

Love the tool caddy..

Flea market today...again very few vendors considering the holiday weekend.

J. H. Williams clamp, Stanley square, unknown plumb bob and Lufkin steel folding rule. 5 dollars for all. Normally pass on inscribed tools, but think it adds to neatness in this case.:)

got to get me one of those, l got a grinder, and a sander, and a another (Delta BOSS) sander that I don't have room for right now.
i could stow them away till l need them, and clamp onto the W Mate.

CT, yeah, the rule is inscribed neatly at least, sort of pretty writing(printing)

Here is today's goodies....

Went to a few yard sales today on my way back the see what else I could find at Gary's house (see post above)

Came away with these.....

Husqvarna 350 - 20" bar - full case - protective headgear

Stihl MS180C Mini Boss - 13" bar - chain cover

Both run great and are in like new shape.....even though they're dirty as ****, all the plastic and labels are in fine condition....they have been used very little.

I drove away $125 poorer, but with a big smile on my face knowing I helped Gary and his wife get rid of some more of their stuff!!

Those saws were a great deal. I'd like to find a Husky like that!

Jeff is the little suction cup mount vise also a new addition? or is that your 'smithing vise?

I had one of those back around the 6th-7th grade and well before I finished HS I broke the back main nut over-tightening it. The threaded part just popped out of the plate (cheap casting). I eventually tossed it not having had any luck with repairs, (no, epoxy did NOT work... This was well before any machine tools of welding...)

They are handy little vises. One day I'l run across a decent one for a fair price and buy back a bit of my childhood...

Also, WOW on that Hardware store! And all that Wright goodness!:thumbup:

The vise was part of the Foley Belsaw stuff.

Today started out at the local flea market. Two of the regular tool sellers were there. Unfortunately, both of them were the ones with high prices, so no sale there. I ended up picking up a few things from other tables.

Pic 1 - $7
18' 14/3 SO cable w/quad box and Hubble plug.
2 hammer handles

Then, it was back to the Estate Sale from friday. The same one I got the Workmate 400 from. It was 50% off day.

The block grinder was still there. I just couldn't leave it behind to be orphaned. All the other shop tools had been adopted and this was sitting all lonely like on the bare floor.

On friday, I had found the blade sharpening guide on a shelf, but they wouldn't sell it to me. They said that it was part of the grinder and wouldn't sell it by itself. Today I look for the guide, and it's missing. They sold it.

The original price was $95 firm. So, when she tells me that half off is $47.50 I tell her that she sold the sharpening guide without the grinder and offered $35. We settled on $40. (Pic 2)

If it's one thing the pro estate sale mongers are consistent about, it's their inconsistency... :wtf: :dunno:

Outlaw  way to go on the yard sale sign clean sweep:thumbup: That takes balls, but knowing you, you probably wanted to see if they had any other goodies left. ;) :p:evil:

Also, you might dig this little Williams 2 ounce hammer I just picked up. The smallest Williams I've seen.

WNYFlyer Vulcan
I picked up some of the Williams relatives and a Vulcan socket.

PECVD2: You ****! One of the year's sweetest deals.

[

First picture: Williams 1/4, 3/8 ratchets, 3/8 breaker bar, wide bill pliers, extension, ball pein, Vulcan screwdriver socket

PECVD2, that tool caddy is sweet and only a couple blocks from home to boot. Well done

3Bay, That Williams flexhead B-54 I think ? ratchet looks mint. Those don't seem too easy to find. Excellant score

Had some time this morning so what the hell, hit an pro Estate Sale from a company that typically runs sales on Saturday and Sunday. Most pro sales around here are Friday and Saturday. So 1/2 off today so picked the 3 Snap-On box wrenches for $3. Mint condition and metric also. I typically don't go for truck brands since I am cheap but at those prices I will take them. The sales dude must have been tired of spot pricing all the stuff to give them to me so cheap. Had to laugh what with all the folks there snapping up the well used Craftsman wrenches. I like that the Snap-on writing on the wrenches is so small, makes some folks pay no attention to them.

Also an OTC puller which I believe is a Pittman Arm puller. $4 for that.

Great deal, Jake! I was standing behind you in line when the lady insisted they would not sell the attachment separately - harumph! I'm glad you got the Block - it was one of the things I wanted on opening day.

There are some major scores being made here lately on aluminum riser Workmates! Great deal on this one for $10. You ****!!!

This one looks like a model 79-001 Type 2. Check the underside of the front board for an inked stamp (may be barely readable) that says Type 2.

You should post that pic on the Workmate thread:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92136

Thanks for the link to the Workmate thread. I had no idea they had such a following.

Guys, I've been slacking on the pics... I've had a ton of finds lately... but today cut the cake, cause I found two (three) things I've wanted for awhile now:

next to new adjustable height bar stools! perfect for the work area!

Box 'O mainly Craftsman (half =V=) wrenches...

And that beast. Wanted one for a LONG time coming now, just needs a new cord and a key. Runs smooth as hell as it is though. Total for today was $155 and a 1/4 tank of gas.

Got the porter cable 3"x21" belt sander with the 5 belts of 120 grits for $30, and the sockets on top of the black box and the channel lock for $5. Been needing a belt sander and when I saw this one, I just couldn't pass it up!

Went to the regionally famous Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market this afternoon and got the following:

Foley Belsaw locksmith course book, tools, assorted parts $8
Oil can and screwdrivers $3
Padlocks $10

Afterwards I walked through the MASSIVE Hartville Hardware where I picked up a logo'ed pocket screwdriver for my collection :)

Just for fun - some pics of the store.

Did you say that was a hardware store? I have never ever seen anything like that out here in California... That Wrights display is amazing. Thanks for the pictures..

If he didn't already he does now! Be careful, that Coleman white gas equipment is addictive, I bought my first stove last summer because it was only $2 and I'm up to 9 or 10 stoves and 4 lanterns already. The good part is they can often be found dirt cheap, I may have $125 in my whole collection.

Nice! I grabbed 2 non-adjustable stools for $25 a few months back on Kijiji. One has a small tear, but I just bought a vinyl repair kit to fix her up.

Collect, kinda but bought it more for use than anything. Only wanted one stove for camping but couldn't pass up a deal, I'll probably end up keeping two and fixing up the others and give to family members that want one and sell whats left. The lanterns were what I really wanted. I only had one working lantern before, now I have several for times of need and camping :)

I would like to collect the lanterns if I had the space. Space to store it all dictates how much I can collect of the things I do, but sometimes that does not stop me :) what really kicks is we bought land and are planning on building next spring. It is going to be literally tons of work to move everything I have, and I keep adding more to it. Far has Coleman stuff or any thing else at that matter now it would have to be free or next to nothing cheap for me to pick up now.

$15 today at the local flea, first time I had a chance get over there in like 12 years. I'm always busy on Monday. 3 wrenches, vlcheck, proto, and a craftsman. 4 sockets 3 sk and a wizard I could not resist. Also saw a nice Parker vise for $100 but that was over my budget for the day so I had to pass.

Stopped by an "estate sale" over the weekend and saw an item I let get away since I didn't have room to take it with me and didn't need it, and another big workshop tool some might remember from about 3 decades ago.

The first was an early-style Black and Decker Workmate fold-up work table that had to be older than my 1980's Workmate because it still had the diecast aluminum (?) supports. Someone bought it before I got to it but I wouldn't have bought it anyway because I was in my small car that day - the guy said he paid $15 for it. It was in very good shape - just a few cobwebs but no paint stains or signs of heavy use.

The other "find" that was in that junky garage was an old Shopsmith. I remember attending one of those in-person sales demos in the mid-80's when they used to sell for $800 (?). There was a little rust on the rails on this estate sale Shopsmith but the motor headstock (if that's the right term) still moved smoothly enough on the rails.

I didn't take an in-depth look at it to see if all of the parts were there, but I heard the guy who had bought the vintage Workmate talking to a buddy of his on his cellphone and saying, "I know how you're interested in old tools and such. You should know that they've got an old Shopsmith here in the garage that they're willing to let go for about $100..."

For the right guy, that Shopsmith might be a great find.

Rigid Strap Wrench
Craftsman Channel Locks
Marson Pop Rivet Gun - Made in Chelsea MA.
