Short stop list this week, (no clue why... Maybe Schools out adn everybody went on VACA?
Except for a bunk bed ladder for my youngest and her loft bed (No pic $5...) Absolutely NOTHING...
The only saving grace was this from a CL ad: $40 as it was frozen (screw wouldn't turn for them) but I got it to budge, and knew it shouldn't be too tough to get it apart. 3-1/2" jaws the jaws are in pretty good shape so should clean up nice.
As found other than I shot it with PB blaster

Madison, that looks like it has the marine ply jaws instead of the particle board jaws; True? if the working face double thickness or single?
Great score in either case!
I know it's not particle board for sure, but it's a nice work surface for sure! What is the thickness of a single and double?

Got this PLOMB WF38 (Wright field) ratchet today and when I found it I gave it a few clicks in one direction and then checked to see if it changed directions, which it did.....I didn't noticed any slippage.
I also think the reversing lever is backwards/flipped up instead of down
When I got home and took it apart to start cleaning it.....I found it had several broken teeth!
I'm sure with these WF series tools (1942-1945) that finding a repair kit is impossible.
Here are some pic anyways.....I was really lookin' forward to cleaning this one up.
Anyone need it for parts?

Got the others cleaned up pretty good!
.
That wissota is cool. What is the lever on the front for?
They just cut a 1" or so strip of the ply and glue/screw that to the underside where the jaws meet. if your asking then almost certainly its just the single thickness, of the ply.
Found this today, $5.00 and it works great. I have cleaned it some, looked like it had been sitting for a long time. Gonna put new oil in it and a new blade.

Jim, I'd make a guess that the std Proto 5449 gear-1/2 drive would fit? If you have one its an easy test to make...

The rest of the pictures. The last pic is of all the vise's I've gathered in the last 3 weeks.
The hole in the Proto J5449RK http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001HWCQLQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20 plate looks bigger (?) but it do look promising!
Thanks for the reply.....now I just need to find a Proto 5449 ratchet to try it out!.....

All the rest of this stuff came from a retired clock repairman. All I wanted was the little lathe but he said it's all or nothing. The entire lot was three benjamins. The bench drawers are still full of misc. parts and tools.:
The lathe is Derbyshire:

I tried to buy a complete set up like that once. The seller was looking for 3k for it. I had to decline her (the widow) generous offer.
You did really really well. Thinking of going into clock repair now?

Well, it appears I guessed wrong Jim. Sorry; unless WF Made different mods for wartime expediency (Possible), they do look different comparing a 5449 to my one WF style. the on;y other solution is to find a WF that si dead another way and make 1 good from 2 bads...

Nice haul BBomber.
Yup, you've got a keeper there. (not talking about the tools)![]()
Most of those clamps came out of the Cman drawers that I got earlier. They're not my style, but I was hoping you'd grab them. I missed the adjustable spud wrench, good eye. I had all those indicators and boom mounts in my hands on both days I was there, but waffled back and forth on them. In the end I left them behind. I'm not sure why. It must be that I knew you'd be batting clean-up.

I got a call from a co-worker who was a garage sale who knew I was looking for an old vise. She picked up this nice craftsman vise for $20. It has no cracks, welds or large damage. The swivel pin is slightly bent but I will fix that when I repaint. Who made this vise and how old is it?
