Dave, you do ****. That Coleman is pristine for only $15, and great scores on the rest!

The Bullet is a C500, and all the rats are 3/8 drive. I really wish I could find more 1/4" rats, I just don't see them that often. I likely have crested the 400 mark on ratchets, and I swear I only have around 10-20 1/4" collector rats (non-users), more Plomb than any others.

its hard to find 1/4" ratchet in the wild it seems.

I can find 3/8 and 1/2 all day but I do my best not to buy them unless it's a deal!

I do see 1/4 junk ratchets at yard sales. Nothing any good. I think I have found only two craftsman ratchets.
As for the blue handled 1/4 ratchet I got yesterday, I have to agree with Cowboy, I now think it is an import also. It was kind of a mad rush to put stuff into my bucket at the sale, so I just grabbed it and threw it in.

Only stopped at one yard sale today. I got a couple of angle grinders and a bunch of misc. I got an old Springfield wrench, I was told it was for big square nuts. After cleaning it up I discovered that it says what it is for right on it. Who made the blue handled ratchet? The name is worn off of it, Only word I can read is Warning. It is 1/4 inch drive

That "wrench" is actually a bead breaker for the old style clincher tires. It's marked for 3 to 5 inch wide rims.

my finds from yesterday. went to PA w/ a pal to pick up some motorsickle parts. on the way back we hit a couple flea markets and antique malls.
i paid less than 30 clams for all this stuff.
a 3" littlestown vise. i dont "need" it but it was so cheap i had to grab it.
3 PLVMB wrenches(for twertsy)
a park tool wrench for bicycle hand brakes.
and an almost complete(missing 1 i think) blackhawk ignition wrench set

Got a few interesting things at the garage sales this past Sunday.

pic 1: Stanley 14-inch jack plane, fair condition but it's all there. Will probably require a new handle as the old one is split. $10 for another project (sigh) but I like giving old iron a caring home.

pic 2: Keystone K-8 8mm movie camera. Everything seems to work, but good luck finding film. Worth $10 to my wife, she likes old cameras up on the shelf for decoration.

pic 3: pair of license plates - one Virginia Jamestown issue, and a USA military license plate issued to troops stationed in Germany 1962-1965. Nice condition on the latter except for a couple drill holes (why oh why could the user not use the holes already provided?). $9 for the pair, but $8 was for the USA military one.

Includes 3 screwdrivers (tiny Snap-On and Bristol, and a large Craftsman), 2 nutdrivers (tiny Xcelite and large Stevens Walden), 1 S-K socket, 2 adjustable wrenches (4-inch Crescent and 12-inch Diamond Calk), 2 wrenches (single open end Billings and DOE Ford), and a glass cutting tool.

pics 6-7: $9 for everything
Includes Yankee screwdriver bit made by Stanley in wrap, tire repair tool, some copper wire and electronics connectors, couple heavy lead fishing sinkers, Stanley saw set tool, Stanley line level, British-made whistle and lanyard, a Baltimore masonry chisel and my first Ford-marked oiler.

and a made in england mouth harp. yes i have and play w/ those too, and this one was to cool.
i got a decent german made drafting/mechanical drawing kit for so cheap i couldnt pass; even though i have 2 really nice sets. i know the flathead valve compressor tool and the drafting kit was from the same guy for 6 bucks total.
and a tag topper. i collect tag toppers also, although i think its a repro.

Got this for free. My father in law was about to throw it out because he said it wasn't working and he's buying a new one. I told him I'll take it. I just tested it and it looks like just the ammeter isn't working.

These old Coleman products sure bring back some fond memories where camping was really camping vs. like being in a stall in a parking lot.

Nothing tasted better then rainbow trout caught in the Big Horn Mtns. and cooked on a Coleman stove with a lantern hanging on a tree limb.

Ahh. . .sweet! I miss the west. Back where I grew up. Camping with the hiss of a Coleman lantern, proceeded by my Dad's curse,pump,pump,pump,curse, strike a match, turn the dial and burn up another mantle. Good times! Oh but the fresh trout, cooked in the cast iron pan on the Coleman stove! Sweet indeed. I traveled back to Jackson Wyoming last September. Although I didn't get to camp, I did fish for a short time and landed a nice Fine-spotted Cutthroat trout about an hour before my brothers wedding. My wife still hasn't let that one go . . .

There is a 1/2 bolt holding the bowl on the bottom of the carb. Pull that and with the straw on your carb cleaner... Spray that into the vertical hole till it shoots out on both sides. Should be good. Also make sure the stupid auto choke thingy is working.

My son and I tried as suggested, but that didn't quite fix it. We pulled the carb and squirted cleaner through every hole in the thing. We found no obvious problem or plug, but when we reassembled everything, it fired on the first pull. Everything works as it ought to.

BAM! Turned free into a benjamin (or more) with two dollars of cleaning fluid and about three dollars of gas! I told my son he could sell the mower and put any proceeds towards paying off his car.

Playing a little catch-up.

On Saturday (7/11/15), had time for only three yard sales, with pickup of Werner 8 ft fiberglass step ladder with steps on either side. Can handle a worker on both sides at same time, as the 250 max weight is for each working side. Pics 1 and 2

On Monday (7/13/15) hit one yard sale. Group shot of items bought are in pic 3.

I tend to "adopt" handsaws in rough looking shape and this Disston Hand Saw with Disston Philla on medallion was no exception. Loss of etching, but cleaned up okay. 26 long and about 7 inches wide, may be a No. 7 but I can't pick up the number from the emblem on blade as shown in pic 4 to be sure.

The little brass/glass sight oiler is made by Lunkenheimer Co and marked Pioneer No. 1 with a Pat'd tag of Mar 15, 1887. Pic 5

Yankee No. 41 push drill by North Bros Mfg Co and also marked Division of Stanley Tools Phila PA USA. Blue Frog advises me to look for the bits and happy to report that there was 10. Pic 6

A no Mfg name on the wooden multi-function tool, but included 8 bits inside the screw off cap. Pic 7

A no Mfg name ball peen hammer head that was a rescue as well.

You did good on all counts Mike. The handsaw is a Disston #12, one of Disston's best - missing part of the upper horn, but that's reparable. Here's a site that will help you identify Disston models by the shape of the handle.

I wish I'd have been able to save more of the etching on the blade, but the saw had been out in the elements for too long.

When I saw that #41 push drill and the wood multipurpose tool, immediately looked for the bits like you have been advising and was happy to see that most were still there.

BTW, you did great on your finds at the recent Estate Sale

Picked up all these Cfman wrenches and these GIANT extensions. All for $20. Picked up this homemade 1" sander $20. $20 for this little 'tuck away' airhose reel. $10 for this Dietz fire truck light. I over paid a little on this Dayton 1 hp buffer at $100. I really bought it for the bitchin' stand though.

I'm always amazed at what some people collect and hold onto. I knew that there were a number of hammers, but seven made by CHENEY, six with the capability to hold a nail for starting. Finally, there's the strange looking CHENEY with a hole for pulling nails instead of two claws - it looks like an adze!

Got these punches, air chisel bits, homemade copper drift, and Milwaukee pin wrench and plumb bob for $20. The punches aren't stamped with a name, but about half of the air chisel pieces are Sioux.

Made a decent Craigslist score on July 3rd on something I'd been looking for for awhile.

The seller posted this pic on Craigslist for the following description: "Folding Ladder - $35. Multi-position folding extendable step ladder."

Looked like it might possibly be a Little Giant so I contacted him and asked. Turned out to be a Little Giant Megalite (Model M17, 17') that he had only used a couple of time and no longer had a need for. 300 lb rating but much lighter weight to carry than the Little Giant Classic line of ladders.
