I'm still  over that Wiss collection Outlaw, you got me beat by a few. I'm only at 4 confirmed Wiss, had another pair or two but can't put my fingers on them atm and I have a pair or two that look like Wiss but no clear markings so can't count them. The 1225s are my go-to scissors and the 30s are my carpet/cardboard template scissors.

Clean up in bay 3. Lincoln power luber in business. Best $17.50 I've spent for a helluva spell. 22 zerks on the JD tractor in less than 3 minutes, including zerk wipe.

pre-clean vs post clean photos

This weekends find was a Kennedy 7 drawer machinist box model 520 I only paid $19.50. It came with 5 or 6 machinist books, a slide ruler and some drill bits. :D

The sale in Stoneham that BlueBomber and I pick over a few weeks ago was open again today (until sunday). This time they've opened the house up. Unfortunately, there weren't any tools hiding in the house. The garage was just the leftover tools from the previous sales.
The SnapOn toolbox is still there for $3500, as is the drill press and horizontal band saw (still $150).

After digging through things again (for the fourth time) all I could come up with were 2 items. I think this gold mine is finally tapped out for good.

a dollar each -
SnapOn SSDP31 #1 phillips screwdriver (hidden at the bottom of a pile of look-alike HF/Pittsburg screwdrivers)
New Britain #M105 brake tool

^^^Yes that is for a swivel pin for the static jaw to swivel. Head on over to the vise repair thread and you can see how to remove it. Post some pics in the vise thread as well when you have time.

Thank you, just went out and drove the pins out from the sides with a long pumch. wedged the big main swivel pin and gave it a couple light taps with the hammer and it popped free. It looks like someone added another pin to the side so that the static jaw would not spin even if the main pin on top was removed. that was my problem.

ps: Nice find! I have the 6" version of that vise.
Wasnt to bad of a find! I have 2 pins that insert from the side.
In addition to the factory side pin that keeps the jaw from falling out someone added a secondary pin that goes through the swivel and totally disables the swivel feature even when the top pin is removed. not sure why they did it

Helped a friend clean out relatives garage today, was told I could keep anything that caught my eye. Ended up with a 5 gallon bucket of decent tools but tucked away in a corner I found this gem...boy I'm gonna do some welding now! Hahahahaha

Picked up a cement mixer for $25 for a couple of retaining wall projects. Now just have to figure out how to get it down the side of the house. (to the left of the mixer in the pic). Going to have to take the axle/wheels and hitch off, turn it sideways and mount it on a couple of moving dollies and make a plank road to roll it down.

1940s Dunlap / Sears 7"-8" table saw with original Craftsman motor. Very good condition. Need give some of it an E bath. I'm keeping it in mostly original condition.
Picked it up for free. Needs the blade guard, but is otherwise intact. The base is unstable and will be replaced.

Steven, try posting it in the Vintage Tool Box thread and I bet someone will be able to help you. I'm pretty sure those are not SO pulls on those drawers.

I picked this snowblower up for free on my way to work. It was on the side of the road at a house that is for sale right down the street from me. I grabbed it and dropped it off at home. Hopefully the motor isn't blown and I can get it to start. It's like free money. The stuff people throw away amazes me.

There's a plastic wear strip across the bottom that needs occasional replacement, and the flippers and vanes sometimes need renewal. I had one of these for many years, couldn't kill it. In the spring, turn it over and dump the fuel and run it until it quits.

Today's finds

Parker 383-1/2 which the seller has been holding for me for over a week and a craftsman bit brace for $150

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1438290838.092973.jpg
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1438290852.282484.jpg

Free snowblower which I threw some fresh gas in and it fired up. Side of the road find.
https://vimeo.com/134991754

5 square head 5/8" bolts and nuts. I wish they had more because they are perfect for vises like a Parker 974. Also got these 2 little square head wrenches. The bigger one fits my lathe tool holder which I've been looking for. Paid $3.75 at a local store somewhat similar to habitat restore.

Went to yard sales on Thurs and Friday, with nothing on Friday to show for it.

On Thurs (7/30), did pick up a few things and all at same yard sale.

First item was a Ivalite Dash Control Deluxe Spotlight. These were made mostly for boats and from 1936 and being made today. If you go to this website, http://www.ivalite.com/models/

you will see a nice picture of one on a vintage boat and if you slide down a bit, you can also see a short 34 second video on how they can be moved with an attached dash cable. Here is 3 pics of mine as it is right now.

Pics 4, 5 and 6 are of a Stanley #82 cabinet scrapper. For some reason, I had hard time finding one over many years of looking.

Pic 7 is a pair of Jacob #11N Chucks with 1 Jacob key (small one) and a big key that picked up for when I may need it for something.

You guys are rocking it, I ventured out to get supplies and was going to pass by the one stop that looked interesting but I was 15 minutes late so I grabbed a beer instead... Been hammering that hot rod since noon yesterday and put 20 hrs in the day before so I needed a brewski to take the edge off...

May stop by the sale tomorrow but :dunno:, got a lot on my plate right now I need to clear out. Good luck to all, hope you knock it out the park!!

Mostly of interest to those who do woodworking, but maybe some will find this collection from one estate sale interesting.

First, from a person who had four saw vises and two saw sets, there were 8 nice handsaws, from which I chose the best 5 - New 16, D 115, D 8 Thumbhole rip, and 2 D23's (pre 1928). All sharp, all straight, no broken horns, only one medallion in poor shape, all just need a minor cleaning.

Vintage books on the use of the steel square and carpentry, and an aluminum framing square by Stanley.

Three saw vises - D3 by Disston, one by E. C. Stearns, and one by Atkins; and two saw sets - yes it's a 42X.

Stanley #5C, Type 11, Stanley 78 w/fence, 3 13-oz claw hammers and two hatchets - one is Plumb.

Goodell-Pratt combo square, eggbeaters, brass plumb bobs, push drill (all bits present), spiral screwdriver, ratcheting screwdriver, and other smalls.

Nice selection of files - check out the handles - walnut with what appears to be copper ferrules. They'll clean up nicely. The metal one is nice also.

Selection of chisels by Buck Bros, Ohio Tool, Berg, and others.

Screw driver bits for spiral screwdriver and bit brace.

Finally, an item that I didn't recognize, but it had a solid bass wheel, so I got it anyway. It is a wheelwrights traveler.

You did good on your buys and I especially like the traveler, as it is used to make sure the fellies that make up the wheel are staying relatively consistent with each wheel you make.
