My real score...String trimmer with edger attachment. Thing was covered with dust and cobwebs. Lady was kind of hesitant when I asked when it last ran. She thought maybe a year ago. She offered it for $17, I said I'd take a chance at $15, thinking it was probably gonna be a basket case.

Brought it home, wiped it down, dumped the old gas, refilled and primed. Started on the 3rd pull. Runs great.

Great Score(s) but "Edger attachment?" :headscrat I always just turned my whacker 90 degrees and went to it, and I see pro gardeners doing the same all the time. seems like a waste to stop and change heads...

twertsy, did you get enough ratchets this weekend?

What's the story on the Matco box? Is that the 36" wide box? Do you have the drawers for the hole?

I didn't measure it, but it's wider than my Proto roll cab. Nope, on the hunt for that drawer........I could steal it from the Proto but, I'd still need 1!

It's not something I'd probably use for my yard..nor something I'd spend 60+ for. :wtf: I agree you don't see many, if any mowing crews using them. But then again most of the "pros" in my area are all about one thing...speed. They couldn't care less what the final result looks like. That said, it could fill a niche between a trimmer and a dedicated edger, maybe something to use a couple of times a season. :dunno:

BB you **** if only for getting the vise with the anvil cutter! I've NEVER gotten one of those.
That's a really cool vise BlueBomber
BB, there are a couple in the big vise thread that are two-toned and really sharp looking, if you haven't seen them, do a search in the thread for them. [emoji106]

Thanks, gents! I had no idea the Hardy hole and cutter was a rare thing. I'll be sure to look the slide over for a date tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion, Nine. I think, though, I'll keep it red. I may also try to fabricate a swivel base for it.

Cheers!

Nice score on that set Pvt. Lug!
Thanks, Outlaw!

I am slowly researching it. GTD was a major supplier of threading sets and individuals pieces (taps, dies, etc) to the Ordnance Dept in WWII, including sets with these precise pieces, but the sets came in metal cases, so I think this set is older.

The instructions on either side of the label on the lid are in four languages: Italian ("Istruzziones"), French ("Avis"), Spanish ("Instrucciones"), and Portuguese ("Instruccoes").

I've done it!!!!! I finally managed to snag another Vidmar cabinet. I have been searching for a while and I've known about this one, just could never talk the guy out of it. It's got 12 drawers to save yourself the counting.
I finally managed to a couple days ago. I got it for $350. It's going to look great beside my other Vidmar.

Great find Joe! A question however: What makes you think it's for wood? While you could do wood on a metal lathe, It's not good for them.

I'm guessing the tool rest is the part hinting at wood. However hand held tools were often used for metals in the past, normally the softer metals and in small diameters. The collection of collets would also hint at that.

The tool drawer contains everything to convert it to a wood lathe. New rest, end stock wood collet etc... Ames made this so it was convertible., not that it will EVER see wood. What got me to buy it was that the seller is retired from Pratt and Whitney where his job was maintaining all their big equipment. It is so nice in person.

Here's some stuff I just picked up off Kijiji from a military deploying to China for 2 years.

Black & Decker Workmate 400
Sears basic router table
Beach B25 toolbox
Tool stand hiding behind the workmate and under the router table. Likely put casters on it the drill press at one end and bench grinder on the other as soon as I come across a C'man block. Haven't ever seen one for sale locally yet tough :(

He wanted 75$ for the lot and he took 60$ which he offered.

That's some cool stuff there Thundermug, I really like that desk calendar for some reason.

And is that a Chicago Bears tape measure on top of the cabinet?

Bought this metal shear at an auction today I couldn't pass it up for $30 :D. Anybody have any info on it? I can't seem to find one like it anywhere else online.I don't know if you can see it in the pictures but it is stamped "No. 65" and in another place it has "5783" maybe a serial number?:dunno: It would be cool to find out some history on it and what it was originally intended for, this thing came with a 6 foot lever to pull on! I also got 25 cut-off wheels, 25 grinding wheels ( all norton) and 12 Lenox hacksaw blades for $45 so I was pretty happy today

Been forgetting to post up but here's some stuff from last week and the week before:

Sockets and wrenches - $45 at the pawn shop. All sk, Armstrong, proto, and Easco new stock and some slightly used. Gonna sell most of it

And a yard sale while I was on vacation in Colorado. $80 for the craftsman radial arm saw, craftsman scroll saw, and delta table saw all together. And then it all rode 800 miles in the bed of a friends truck.

I'm not quite sure, they had it listed as a round stock shear :dunno: The jaws don't open up a whole lot but they are about 5 or 6 inches long. This is the first one I've ever seen.

That hand roller looks pretty sweet Hemi! Looking good guys!

This week I went to the regular flea, a yard sale, a pawn shop and the monthly flea.

The monthly flea was MAMMOTH, I was there for 6 hours. The best things are usually found right away but I take my time and look at everything. Still didn't go through those finds yet.

My finds from the first three

Pic 1: British socket collection. Got me some King ****! ,Tipco, Gordon,Britool,Bedford. This was an unusual find. All are Whitworth or BS except a couple Metric! -$30. I know they are worth more than that.

Pic 2: Williams 1/2 ratchet-$15
Snap On 1/4 ratchet-12
Craftsman 1/4-2 ratchet,
Duro (pretty sure) 1/2 L handle & socket-1
Husky 3/8 ratchet-2,
3 Snap On and 1 Xcelite screwdrivers-2
Arrow Buffalo adjustable wrench- 1.25

Pic 3 - Opinel pocket pruning knife, like new $3

Pic 4 - This one was a real bargain. The vendor had no idea what it was and had never seen one myself but I knew it wasn't for the fruit. The kicker is I could have used one on some old scrap wire recently.
Banana Peeler - $1

Snap on sockets-2

I am soooo happy. Stopped at my local blacksmith. Every time i bug him to sell me an anvil. Today he said yes. First one he offered was this Armand Hammer 125 lber. Then he took out this gorgeous, 175 lb Hay Budden. Edges are sharp and perfect. No belly at all. I paid 250.

Then he pulled out this 125 lber with a real rough top for $100.
