Took a two hour trip to Omaha with the wife for our anniversary . "Stumbled" across a cl post for a snub nose Reed vise 403 1/2. The guy was asking 95 but worked him down to 75 .... Damn ebay! we passed an auction sign and the wife looked over at me and seen me tweaking . She knows I'm a rust junkie and I was needing a fix For 52.00 this is what I ended up with.

Went to the Elephant Trunk show today. Picked up these beauties. Parker 835. 82 lbs, 5" jaws, swivel jaw. Very, very clean. Pd $100.
Heinrich 3SV machinist vise, pd $15. Custom machinist vise, pd $15. Broken Parker 3.5" - free. Picked up this little Yankee machinist vise for $5.00. Palmgren rotating compound tilt machinist vise-got it from Ford Superduty to restore, we are partnering on this one.

Got this gorgeous 1hp Baldor bench grinder from a member in a barter deal for that cool cash register stand that I had. I couldnt wait so I started its renovation. I have the side plates but they were in the baking oven drying.

So that's where the Baldor grinder went to from the sale bill....

Good stuff bluebomber! Where did you find the double ended adj wrench? I went back and got 4 small engines one being a Clinton from the 40s, metal gas can and a very heavy duty chain and load binder.

There was a small suit case in the "non tool room" basement where I found most of the hand tools, including the double, mixed in with other junk tools. Good find on the load binder - I found plenty at a sale down in Alabama, but didn't have room in my baggage to bring them home.

Are you a small engine repair guy or a collector? Post a picture of the Clinton engine!

It has been used, but well cared for.

BTW, it even had the small pamphlets books on operation inside of it when I got it.

We pulled out one that was my wife's dad's from 1974. Pumped it up and it lit right up even with the old gas.

Topop: what's the model number on that Millers Falls automatic screwdriver? It looks like a big one. If it's a model 60 series (61, 62, 63), I've got one just like it. The model 60s were only made for about 10 years, from 1928 to 1938. After that, they added an "A" to the model number. One change was using chrome plating instead of nickel.

I scored pretty good this weekend; at least for me.

The white cupboard was $1 and the small file cabinet (going to use it for drill bits and the like) was $5

I got this Aiwa stereo for the shop for $20. It sounds great and even has the remote control...just need to figure out where to mount it now.

Folding aluminum ramps to get my 4 wheeler into the bed of my truck. I've been using two planks and backing into a ditch but this ought to be a bit better with hunting season coming up.

The reason you can get away with that is that "white gas" or "Coleman Fuel" is Naphtha, not "gas", so it has pretty much an indefinite shelf life, if not contaminated. Dirty fuel however...

Those look like hog ring pliers. Their used for upholstery work to fasten the fabric to the wire frames with little clips. I could be wrong though.

Topop: what's the model number on that Millers Falls automatic screwdriver? It looks like a big one. If its a model 30, I've got one just like it. The model 30s were only made for about 10 years, from 1928 to 1938. After that, they moved to a model 30A with chrome plating instead of nickel.

Sweet! It's the same era as mine, 1924 - 1938, but with an automatic return spring.

Note: I had my model number wrong. The one I have is a model 62. I edited my previous post to correct that for posterity - it's amazing how fast google finds GarageJournal pages!

Those pliers look closest to grodzing pliers - made for glass working, used to flake off small chips of glass from the edge of a sheet. I have some I use in stained glass work. Not exactly the same, but similar.

I wasn't saying yours had issues. I was discussing full quality. there are a LOT of tiny orifices in a Coleman stove or lantern and any particulate derbies, whether from dirt blown in, rust flakes in the can/tank, or whatever, will cause issues.

This was part of a $25 lot from the estate sale me and BlueBomber were at.

I posted this in the wrong forum a couple of weeks ago...it was a moving sale about 6 weeks ago.

Bunch of Blackhawk, SK, ton of Craftsman, a few Snap-On, a few Elora, a Proto Los Angeles, a Pencraft, a couple of Indestro, an Action, and a bunch of miscellaneous taiwan manufactured ones (The Popular Mechanics seem pretty decent). The 2 C-Clamps are JH Williams. Got the whole shebang for $64.00...I thought that was a pretty good score.

Heck yeah that's a good score cgds92! That many sockets and some good sized made in USA c-clamps!!!! Just 3 or 4 of those sockets new would cost almost $64.

Got this at a garage sale 2 blocks from my house. Complete 16 piece set of SK wrenches, 2 williams "superwrenches", and everything else- total was about 35$ The adjustable wrench was an interesting find. I usually pass on non-US stuff, but this one feels really good in the hand, with tight tolerances. For a buck, why not? It's a Fuller, made in Japan The punches/Chisels are Dasco.

I stopped by a couple of new-to-me flea markets - one commercial, the other not, and came away with a few things I just couldn't pass up.

At the commercial one, I got a 7/8 BernzOmatic combo to add to my collection. I already had one, but this was really nice. A 1 1/16 x 1 1/8 DOE, unknown brand, but USA, just to add a size to my pegboard grabbers, and a really neat 3/4 x 7/8 DOE. I looked up the patent, and it was issued in 1935 to Bridgeport Hardware Mfg. Co. The size is an extra, but I couldn't resist that cool design. I'll have to look it up on Alloy Artifacts to see what else I can find. Wouldn't mind having a set of these little jewels!

Then, at the other flea market (church-sponsored; usually the kiss of death) I got a plain-Jane tool box filled with miscellaneous wrenches and other junk, and a Craftsman Block Grinder.

Sorry, no pix of the grinder, but it's the second generation of Blocks - all metal, but with the flatter top. Missing both wheel covers, but it's a half horsepower, has the spark arrestors and tool rests and (drum roll, please) THE LIGHT! I think the light shade may be plastic, but the rest is steel, and it all works great, even the light bulb.

Digging through the tool box revealed a set of 9 Craftsman =V= combo wrenches plus one of those funky open end plus socket thingies. The combos go from 3/8 to 1" but without the 13/16 and 15/16. There were also a number of Indestro flat wrenches, plus several branded Westline that look an awful lot like the Indestros. And, two pair of Proto 8" slip joint pliers, one pretty clapped out and one nearly new.
Total tab: $31.

Yeah, nickel stamped on the tool is almost a dead give-away for a Bridgeport. Great haul!

I gotta post mine! I posted it on general tool discussion a week ago before I found this thread. Anyways, I gave $50.00 for it. It works good but missing a few pieces. I bought a new old stock quill for it, just because and have been cleaning up some other pieces!

Nice score. All those goodies look to be in great shape. I have had a Japanese 8" Fuller for a long time; decently made wrench.

Picked these map cabinets up last week. A surveying company was downsizing, since all of their maps are going digital. Grey one was $50 and the green set was $100. I will be passing along the grey one to a friend with a huge coin collection. I think I will be putting the green set into the shed and use as a tool box.

Twertsy, I am a Plomb collector...just about tripled my collection! I'm not really looking to sell, but would be happy to trade or sell some of my duplicates to fill in the gaps in my sets.


It was the most amazing sale I have ever seen. I only had the $100 bucks on me, otherwise I could have gotten a lot more. I only took probably 1/3 of the Plomb stuff there, plus I never had time to search the buckets of sockets. Not to mention all the other great stuff they had. Apparently the guy who passed away collected and sold tools. I originally had all of the the Plomb stuff in one big pile and the guy who looked like he was running the sale agreed to $40. Then the wife of the deceased came by and changed the prices. Was trying to get me to pay $5 a wrench. I scrambled to make as complete as I could sets and got her to take my $100. Said they would do the sale again in a few weeks. I can't wait.
