Gentlemen, thank you. I chalk it up to good luck and a target rich environment around Boston. Well, that and going to sales every weekend.
That said, I will be taking one of those hypothetical breaks we occasionally hear folks talk about. I am officially calling "Uncle". I now own three band saws, two table saws, three drill presses, a dozen locking pliers of various manufacturers, a tool box drawer overflowing with DBE wrenches, a workbench full of things either listed on E-bay or that need to go on it, and as of today, I have only one car in my three car garage due to no places yet to put this weekend's acquisitions. Not to mention the hole it blew in my wallet. I have a heavy-duty 12" metal lathe that I really don't know how to use yet, as well as welding equipment I'm not very good with, and a long list of projects and home improvement ideas that are not getting done.
Like the boa constrictor, I need time to digest, rest and eliminate. I need time to actually use the cool tools I'm piling up in there. Hell, my Mustang's been sitting for three weeks, because it's easier to go buy stuff than it is to finish installing the top. This hobby of estate sale-ing is really fun and more than a little addicting. I may resume it again in the future. Maybe when I actually get my woodshop built. Or get retired.
Meanwhile, I'll live vicariously through the rest of you. As I said, it's a target rich environment out there. You all can and will find some pretty cool stuff.

Thanks, Nine. It has been fun and I've learned a ton from all of you and my online research about old tools. I'll still follow the thread and try to share what I've learned. It's better to go out with a bang than a fizzle, you sure went out with a bang!! Great job and don't give up entirely, just be more picky about what sales are actually worth going to as opposed to working on your list. [emoji481]
congrats again!
I just love those Cordomatics! Great find!I scored this Cordomatic retractable shop light for $5 at the flea market.

I wouldn't, but that's just me. I see them for around $20-30 often. Just don't have the room for them! Also i'm looking for another one but I'm being picky as like I said, I don't have the room for multiples! LOL

You have been a pain-in-the-*** to many of us who ply the pickers trade. So many times we have heard at the hallowed Northeast tag sales the murmered cursing 'Blue Bomber got here already' of 'that ******* Blue Bomber has already been here' as we rooted through cans of rusty washers and used nails!

In that case, are you happy?![]()

Shhhh....can you hear that??? That light tapping sound? That's Jake dancing in his basement, thrilled at the prospect of not having to compete with you anymore.![]()

Nobody cares about my finds :/

I think i scored a great deal yesterday. If a chainsaw counts, i think i came out smelling like roses. I picked up a dirty, but very solid Stihl 029 with all of the original decals. Should clean up nicely, and it fired on the first pull. Best part.... I paid a whole fifty dollar bill for itThe guy that had it used to trim trees until he hurt himself, so he said he was clearing out some of his tools. He told me to make an offer, so i threw out 50, knowing i was wayyyyy under its value.. but it was all i had on me... and he took it. He also had a Hitachi mitre saw and a newish looking black and decker firestorm mitre saw. I didn't buy either of them, because i was now broke, and also because I'd rather have something older. Anyways, here is my score (the bar looks small due to the angle, but it is an 18").

I was pretty excited/dumbfounded that i got it for that priceI bought a Stihl 029 a couple of years ago for $195, it was like new with a 24" bar. I thought I stole that one. YOU ****!!

Only a dozen locking pliers? Slacker
You can't quit until at least two dozen..
Great find in the lathe and you really ****!
i think i have to many but there is still room in the drawer.I generally don't post about all finds, just point out the ones I think, Damn I wish that was me!!! LOL
As for the vise, if it still works then so be it, but I shy away from ones with welds on them.
LOL! What a great send off! I don't deserve most of that larger-than-life stuff, but that was hilarious. Even SWMBO was laughing.Dear Blue Bomber, as a spokesperson for the Northeast Garage Sales Pickers Association (NGSPA) I would like to say good riddance to a NGSPA Hall of FamerYou have been a pain-in-the-*** to many of us who ply the pickers trade. So many times we have heard at the hallowed Northeast tag sales the murmered cursing 'Blue Bomber got here already' of 'that ******* Blue Bomber has already been here' as we rooted through cans of rusty washers and used nails!

Although I have not had any direct confrontations with you Blue Bomber, they were going to become inevitable as Veeps keeps pushing me north to better hunting grounds, much like the plains Indians of the early west as they went farther afield in search of Buffalo.
As a going away present the NGSPA would like to send you the following items to assist you in your dotage:
1.) Lifetime subscription to eBay with a permanent ban on buying.
2.) A Craigs List Lifetime achievement award
3.) The last three seasons of the reality shows 'Hoarders' and 'Intervention'.
And lastly:
4.) A 2 month gift certificate for a 'Pickers, Mommy and Me' therapeutic encounter session. Some of the subjects covered will be 'Do You Really Need That Wrench', 'Can't you get that Cheaper at Harbor Freight' and the wives FAVORITE 'Why Do We Suddenly Have So Much Money In The Bank Honey'
In Conclusion, Good Bye, Good Riddance and don't let the door hit you in the wallet on the way out![emoji38]_hitti[emoji481][emoji106][emoji144]

That was hilarious Joe, I missed the post until it was quoted.![]()

Great find in the lathe and you really ****!

I try and stick to things I'll use more than collect so I grabbed the vise thinking it's better than the 3" Reed I have at home. It looks fine if it works I'm happy. Hopefully not a big deal.
I went back to the same sale the next day because it was 50% off. I. Noticed a coffee can with what looked like puller parts inside. One part had the old school snappy logo on it so I looked further. Found 4 jaws with the "CJ" part number and the bar they attach to. I'm trying to build a puller board set so I bought the coffee can and it's contents. Ended up with some proto jaws too in the bottom, battery terminal puller and hub puller that looks well used. I'm just happy to get more pieces for my puller set.
Pics on request
Well, if you were to count all the other clamping devices in my garage (c-, spring, bar and strap clamps and bench vises), I'm up to nearly 120.
But you can never have too many clamps.![]()

Piker, only 120...
you better get back to the yard and estate sailing...
(counting ALL forms of clamping devices... 110+72+230... = 412 (at least)

Which one of those numbers is your vises?
