I did pretty good today, hit a few yard sales, spent $2 at one for a box of tools, spent $3 at another for a small box of tools, and they threw in a craftsman swivel stool, still in the box for free!

Now, can anyone tell me how to put pics on my posts?

@ Tellingthem, I think the clamp you ended up with is from a science class/lab to clamp flasks/beakers during experiments, say over a heat source.

The rest of the $30 score from today ( minus car ramps ).The boxed hole saws are brand new, and the 75' Lufkin tape is great, it will help me big time this week.

Two books
Two Dunlap scales/rulers
Combination wrenches - Craftsman, Crescent, Lectrolite
Unbranded DOE
Coax cables
Pile of keys
total was 12 bucks...not a bad afternoon.

Went to my favorite little junk store and got some.good stuff today. Craftsman "v" series 1/4 rhft ratchet, t handle, extensions, and a few sockets. 1/4" indestro breaker and sockets, Utica duckbills, another needlenose set, a hold-e-zee screwdriver, and some weird clamp thing. We couldn't figure out what it was for but guessing piping or conduit clamp for something. $7 for everything
That clamp looks like a lab clamp. For holding a test tube or retort to a stand. Think chemistry.

Nice finds gents. I spent my whole day feeding a camp fire on a boy scout outing. No bargains here (but I did check my garage sale app for any in the nearby towns - ;-) ).

Outlaw, your "tapered square punch" is the sharp end of a peavey. It was hand forged and prolly not tool steel. The collar and hook are still there, go back:p

Got this Kalamazoo sander today for $100. Why do these things always come in 2s and 3s? Got one a few weeks ago as well. Exact model too.

Wow, that's a good deal Joe! I'll give a You **** for that one. Kalamazoo is a great brand. I agree on the multiples thing. I've been watching for deals on a 4" sander for months and all of a sudden this week in the same sale I get two pretty cheap and a 1" Belsaw sander cheap too and I wasn't even looking for that one. Just happened to be in the same sale. 3 at once.

I bet if you call SK and offer to buy a rebuild kit they'll just send you one for free.

I love garage sales. I bought too much stuff at garage sales this year to remember. I can't believe you got proto/SO wrenches for 2 dollars!

After a 8 hour round trip... thinking I was making a 6 hour round trip... I finally got something I've wanted since Nine dragged one home a year or two ago. And, it's in real nice shape too!

But, this thing has a monster of a motor on it!

Plus! I snagged this awesome magnifying lamp too!

$75 total, but I gave him $80. He's got a few other things I want, just don't have the room for right now...

I went to one listed sale after getting the Weekly Fillup, and also went back to where I got the Aluminum tray yesterday since it was close.

Ten Bucks got me a small duffle, probably destined for caring camping gear, an SK box of deep sockets missing two, a pair of Diamond pincers, and a high pressure brass Hose nozzle.

The snap ring pliers will go into the "road box"

At the estate sale I re-visited, I got an Army (1945) mummy bag case. not a deal, but not bad at $15. So after getting it cleaned, I'll have it for my mummy bag. Now I just need to find a couple of the liners.

Jake: Is this the anvil that was at the sale? I'm guessing they want to flip it for just a tad more than they paid? :eyecrazy:

http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/tls/5272985878.html

YUP, that's the one !!!
I may have been wrong about the weight (I was going by memory). The original price at the sale was overpriced at $350, but I don't know what it sold for. There is no way it's worth $600 just because they moved it to a different town.

Nice find on a Bronze Alien Head planer. The few that I have seen were all grey. There should be a press-in medallion that covers the hole on the front of the head. This one looks to be in great shape otherwise, can't wait to see it cleaned up and running.

Wow, good deal on the ratchets for the condition. What is the number on the 3/8 in 1/4 body snap on? Is it pretty coarse tooth count? Think I have the same one and paid about 7x that.

Is the sticker on the drive roller for tracking? Those are an obscure machine, pretty handy and compact though. Why they couldn't splurge for an aluminum idler is beyond me, even the basic craftsman sanders from back in the day had an aluminum idler. Kalamazoo is a real love/hate company with me.

Just don't get too excited before you use it, I found them to be very light duty and kinda frustrating. Portable 12" job takes up less space and really puts those to shame IMHO. But since it was a quest machine, congrats.

No the sticker is from the ski shop where it came from...As far as the idler pully goes, never been an issue for me. I've used these Kalmazoos for years and they are great. What's really nice is how I can get all the parts necessary to complete this sander within a week and pretty cheap as well. A good simple machine well designed and executed IMHO.

Good find Rick, you must have had a serious "want" for that machine!

Since I saw yours, yup! Originally, I was going to snag a second one on the way home... crustier, but in case I needed parts restoring this one. But, by the time I left the other guys place, I would of missed the Eagles kick off. He's trying to hold it for me til next weekend.

Definitely wanted it, wanted it to match my two bronze drill presses. But in the foreseeable future, since the other half is in a pallet wood project kick, that's all its going to see. After sanding one board down, all I kept thinking was "how much easier would this be with a planer?"

The parts one I was supposed to pick up on my way home has it
