Dam Joe, you're killing it. That one deserves a you ****!

:+1: - for the grinder
and another
:+1: - for the stand

I did a little better today than yesterday (not by much). But I ran all over the place to do it. 4 of my 5 stops were busts. One was delayed until next week, but I read the ad wrong and drove 30min out of my way before I realized it. I only scored at my 2nd stop and a TOO.

At the 2nd stop I found a -
Pic 1-4 - $10
Bostitch cast staple puller
#2 1-2 pipe cutter marked :

SAUNDERS TYPE CUTTER
TRIMONT MFG CO
ROXBURY MASS
USA

At the TOO, I came away with an anodized aluminum hard hat for $2 (pic 5).
I don't need one anymore, but it will look better as wall art than my 20yo plastic one.

Bagged, good score on the saw! The custom rollers were an option, mine has both front and real rollers.

The widget next to the putty knives is a carbon scraper. You can adjust the flexibility by sliding the sleeve forward and back. To sharpen slide it all the way forward and then use a grinder to put a new edge on it.

Picked this up yesterday at a barn sale. Wasn't planning on going but my gut told me I'd regret it if I didn't. Nothing major but got some cool stuff...
craftsman crown top box, Almost complete Craftsman USA tool kit, xcelite pliers, wiss utility scissors, two shovels (the little one for my truck), some various hex keys and such...and my first Snap-On! 4 3/8" wobble extensions. $20 (I also got an old cigar box full of ephemera. mostly old postcards, some stamps and some old German/Austrian Notgeld)

Your dignity can go pound sand! That is major suckage right there  I can't understand why someone would throw that away but then again if they did not throw it away it would have not found it's new good home! You seriously need to go buy a lottery ticket:evil:

Most excellent score. I woulda dove for it. Suckage points there.

The **** people throw away. I did a short gig dumping garbage in the old days - you old fellas remember garbage cans. 8-9 month gig - 2 revolvers with broken springs, 1 auto that was so dirty the action wouldn't run. All these were .22's. 1 broken stocked savage 24f in .22/410. Lost the flip on all of 'em. The trucks bi-weekly junk prices paid for drinks a couple of times a month and you never know who the perv's are till they find out your dumping garbage and want all the ****. :lol_hitti

Ironic I found an old electric meter from the 20's and decided to keep it for some unknown reason. Then I end up making electricity for 30+ years.

That's awesome. Can't beat free, and there's just something I love about saving something old and still usable from the trash.

The weather was terrible here this weekend so not a lot went on. There was a brief break in the rain Saturday morning, and I found a cool shelf put out for the trash while helping a neighbor return some doors to Lowes. Very heavy, nice wood, a little over 6' long.

Shelf1.jpg

Wife said no to it being used inside, so in the garage it went. Only problem, was that I didn't have anybody to help me lift it. So, the redneck in me came out.

Shelf2.jpg

It's not the most practical shelving but it was free...and hopefully relevant as it was found within a couple of blocks from an estate sale and went into my garage?

Hit a couple estate sales yesterday. The first yielded a Disston D23 10TPI Rip in good shape, a 6ft Lufkin folding rule, a Jacobs 33B and key, and a 10" x 1/4" Proto Professional punch. $8. First impression of the second sale wasn't good...looked thin. Then I spotted this 12" RR track anvil. Wanted one for a long time and this one is nicely cut. Opened a cabinet (always open the cabinets!) and found this Petersen USA hold-down clamp. Again, wanted one of these for my drill press for a long time. $14 for both...stoked to find two things there that I've been seeking. uploadfromtaptalk1446404867569.jpg

Bill - Congratulations on finding a few things on your want list. That's a nice RR track anvil, and you'll love using that clamp on your DP. I have a few of the chinese ones I use. I've been looking for a Peterson one, but they're like unicorn tears around here.

I went to two Flea Markets today. I wasn't expecting to find much, since it was a cold and dreary morning and the venders tend to stay home on those days.

The first find was large tap handle that I could have used two months ago.
Pic 1 - $2
Card #10 tap handle

and then I found an ex-mechanic selling off his extra tools. SnapOn, Matco, Craftsman, MAC, and other brand names. There were some chinese tools as well. Surprisingly, there was no HF at all. Thats unusual for tool sellers around here. His prices were high, but in the reasonable range, but he was FIRM on all his prices. I walked away from some tools I would have liked to get, but still grabbed a few things.
Pic 2 - $40
3 - chinese metric combo wrenches (for someone else) 24mm, 30mm, 32mm
SnapOn 1-3/8" combo wrench (1986)
2 - Robertson #1 drivers
2 - Matco Torx drivers T10, T25
Craftsman 1/2dr ratchet (pre-teardrop =V=)

The second FM is one that I only go to once or twice a year because of the location and how cramped the tables are. You can barely tell where one seller ends and the next one starts and most of it is junk.
Pic 3 - $6
S•K C-16 1/2" combo wrench
3 - Barcalo-Buffalo DBE wrenches
________#5 3/4"-5/8"
________#6 3/4"-11/16"
________#7 7/8"-13/16"

Finally, a good day tool hunting, without too much running around. :)

The minute I saw that in the pic I thought "waterbed headboard" (are we showing our age much?) :spit:

That actually looks pretty good there especially with the stuff displayed!

just 1 stop for me. Got several block planes, an eggbeater drill, 2 clamps (including a Wilton 6") and a Samson type vise grip. Already sold the clamps, they paid for the rest. Anyone interested in the Samson LeverJaw wrench?

I took my daughter back down to college today and took in an estate sale that would normally have been out of reach. But, since I was driving by the place anyway, we stopped in. Twice.

The place was a nice mansion-ish house with a garage and a temporary tent on the lawn. The nice stuff (Snap-on, Blue Point, etc) was in the garage and mostly already bought or way over priced. The tent had the less desirable stuff. Well, less desirable to some people but it was also priced better. Here's what we bought:

Peerless Instruments Model 215 battery tester - $5
9201ce01fc73f816361dde7a43a9d865.jpg

Heritage logo Craftsman tool box, with tray - $5
52b370954e9dae5a83050538953800b9.jpg

Hazet knockoff tool cart - $10. I got excited when I first put it in the car, thinking it was a real Hazet. But after getting home and doing research, I noticed the lack of a sticker and a few other details that mark it a knockoff. However, I'm still happy with the price.
52a63aa86898c3c6ce17a0216d6908a4.jpg

I passed on a really cool Long-C Craftsman 8" table saw, mostly because of lack of room in the trunk. We drove down to the Cape, had lunch and dropped my daughter off.

On the way back, I kept thinking about the table saw. It still had the original paint, and I had fished out the fence, miter slide and blade guard from the random pile that three days had left of the tool section. I couldn't help myself - I had to save it from the scrap pile. I'd find some way to make it fit, in my car and my garage.

I got there one hour before closing and went straight for the tent. Gone. Well, good. Someone had loved it and saved it.

I did find a few more things I'd missed the first time through.

Dayton 25-ft shop light cord reel - $5
Harbor Freight portable band saw with an extra blade and a plastic tool box to keep it in - $15. The box had the original receipt from when he'd ordered it 12 years ago.
c51d15e036b0d2d38220d31bc0f5bdcd.jpg

Four speed pulley & small Slaymaker lock w/ key - $1
c0758a1de585c052e7ba912b7ce85954.jpg

As I was checking out, I asked how much they got for the table saw. The lady pointed to her right and said "You mean that one on the scrap pile?" I got it for $20.
88ced553d33db00c13c15593dffff425.jpg
f56d8c6e94452a8eb1645f98c74679fc.jpg

It comes with a 1/4 hp motor, probably way too small. I have no need for this saw right now, but it's pretty small. I shoved it way back under the work bench to deal with when I retire...

Don't know why I'm drawn to these cordomatic light reels, but this is the 3rd one I've found this year. $3.
Also found some long drivers. 2 Cornwell and 1 Mac Sabina O. $1 each.

Some nice old tools guys. ^

Blue Bomber, obviously you got ripped off and I agree that can't be an authentic Hazet without the stickers. Pack it up and send it over here for disposal.

:lol_hitti You **** on that one!

WNYFlyer Nice set, found those cape chisels in a catalog.

Dave, nice NOS vise grip and pics.

Some flea and estate finds the last couple weeks.

Pic #1&2: was $5.00 for all the box wrenches including Plomb, Select, and some large Williams Superrench, and Stanley hatchet head. Partial GM CO. socket set was thrown in.
