I located an original pedestal stand for my Craftsman Bandsaw this weekend on CL, but it came with another one attached to it though. Can't keep both, so decisions, decisions....:headscrat

Sure you can. One set up for wood and one geared down for metal. Boom - problem solved.

Who gets three good vises at great prices in one trip? That seriously *****. I haven't seen a good vise at any price in 6 months, going out nearly every weekend.

Hit 4 sales today but haven't gotten to sorting it all out for photos. Did get these vises.

Wilton - $7.50
Yost 104 - 10 bucks
Unknown. - $7

If you guys know about the unknown let me know. Is it import? Looks like decent quality.

I think it's almost criminal when they break up a set by pricing stuff individually. I've also been to sales where I found wrenches from a set scattered in various places in the guy's shop. Even when I didn't want to buy them, I'd usually grab them up and put them together for someone else to find.

I am another one who does that even though I have no intent on purchasing them

A couple of times I have picked up what I thought was a complete set of wrenches but upon further searching end up finding additional wrenches in the bigger sizes typically, say 1 1/16" etc. Typically bring it to the folks attention that the wrenches go with the set they already have priced, they typically throw the additional wrenches in for a very nominal price. Of course I am talking about non - Snap-On, etc.

So this is my father's pick up of the day.

A free toro walk behind commercial mower. Just needs an engine according to the "free" sign it had on it. My dad found it down the street from his house during his morning walk. He called me but I was at work and couldn't help him grab it. I told him he needs to find a way to get it so he called his brother and they pulled it home behind his truck.

Hope that the problem with the motor is some thing simple, I believe the motors are fairly cheap to buy, I have a family member who owns a mowing service and he had to replace a motor on one of his mowers and it was less the two hundred dollars. Good luck

Great grab. Regardless of the cost of a new motor (if needed), the rest of the mower is worth alot. Who would just throw that out ????

Scored a bunch of John Deere TY3500 series wrenches and 1/2 drive ratchet and sockets. These are the older USA stuff very similar to the Bonney wrenches of this era. I have had a few of these over the years but have never kept them but with this many I want to try to make the sets complete to add to the collection. PM me if you have any help.

Yeah it's nuts. I guess the previous owner didn't have time to sell it and figured someone could use it. I'll be the one fixing it so it should be fun.

I bought this 1975 vintage Coleman military lantern at the flea market for $8. Even came with the funnel that usually gets lost.

This was not an Earth-shattering deal, but an unusual find nonetheless.

From an estate sale in Milwaukie, Oregon, about a mile from the original manufacturing plant for P&C tools comes this near complete set of P&C combination wrenches ranging from 3/8" to 1 5/16" - with a few duplicates. I am missing a few of the smaller wrenches (Not sure where the set starts or ends) like 1/4", 5/16", 7/16", and 1/2". I am also curious if this set had any 32nd fractionals as I'd like to complete it!

I waited until the last day for the 1/2 price sale - which may have been a mistake since I have no way of knowing if any wrenches in the set were previously sold (they were priced individually). Cost: $60.

Brian

Edit: I fixed the orientation of the phots :)

I checked my gallon jug of P&C but none of the ones you need.

Agreed, Great find. Most of the time a dead motor" is something silly like bad points, condenser, a sheared flywheel key (throws it out of time) a plugged air cleaner or bad gas/crud in the carb... :pimpflash

warmpancakes is good people.

I've got a box of tubes in the basement from a free pile, I have no idea what to do with them or what to look for with them.

Got back into town from cleaning gutters of long stem pine needles. Decided a stop at one of the flea markets would make for a nice break.

Saw this little Companion Power Tools bandsaw. No motor, but looks to be fairly complete otherwise.

Did a little checking and found Sears sold them around the mid 30's and that this 10 inch model was manufactured by Walker Turner.

not really a tool, but couldn't let a neighbor throw away. It spins ok, paint is pretty good, the switch may need a little cleaning or replacement. Any Sunbeam fans on the site know about these?

Wow what a day today.

Met Junkyarddog. Great guy. Picked up this 2 x 72" Square Wheel sander, this REALLY cool Grip-On vise with the wheel lock down, and this 87# Hay Budden Anvil. Paid, $230 for the anvil.

Killer saw Mike, they made them under the Craftsman brand as well IIRC.

nine4gmc:

When I was looking up info on Companion on the vintage machine website, they had a PDF showing both the Companion and Sears brands back in the 30's.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Companion was the value brand from Sears early on. It was replaced by the Dunlap name in a rolling change between 1938-1940.
