Riely, is that top box blue, or grey? Closeup of the top label please? I think that top may predate the roller, possibly by as much as a decade...

Look inside the drawer front where the roller's label is and see if there is some stamping in the drawer itself....

Funny how the details get missed when you're as color blind as I am. I think the top box is blue. I included a picture of the inside of a drawer from the top box - which is what makes me think it was blue.

I could not find any stampings on the roller. I checked all over the inside of the drawer with the cman badge.

I don't think I can get any more pix out of my camera. My laptop is having trouble reading my SIM card. It took an hour to salvage these few photos I took this afternoon.

Well the outside is grey, looks like rattle-can, and the inside is blue, but either very faded, or also a repaint, as it is way lighter in color than the dk blue CM/sears commonly used in the 40's

The stamping would have been right were the label was if its there

Slides on that one: friction slides or crude roller? (4 one inch rollers per drawer...)

That's probably a missing link box Outlaw, same style as the older underline C box but with the newer heritage logo.

I am guilty of not posting enough. And I didn't have a bad year so I really have NO excuse. Maybe I can shoot a few pics and post before the end of the year. In fact I am currently bidding at an online auction right now so maybe I will have something fresh later today.

Guilty as well... However I bought a lot of larger lots instead of posting a pic every time I stopped at a yard sale and bought 3 things.

Riley: i'm not sure your top box is a Craftsman, but it looks like it fits on the bottom Craftsman heritage box perfect and you won't find that combo around here often or at all anymore. you paid about half of what it's worth in case you didn't know if it's not rusted through anywhere. WELL DONE

I'll check the vintage tool box thread to see what the guys are saying the top box might be because i've got a few that look close to it.

Just had to get one in before the New Year. Found a CL ad for CM table saws, $ 25 each. The 113.27970 was the one I was after, mostly complete except for the wings, even has what looks like the correct miter gage and fence. The fence is the one that's gear drive. Th emoter is a 1 HP. I never knew I need another table saw until reading here.
I bought the second one with the intention of using the wings for the first. I know it's not period correct, but I just want to cut wood.
This one is a little rough, but a good candidate for a clean up and possible restore. I'm sure I'll come across a complete and ready to use one now that I bought this........... And then I'll have two!
$40 for both, but the great part is I sold a Japan CM vise on the way down for $40. So another step to my old school CM shop tools.

Yet another vise right before the cutoff. For $6 it came attached to this craftsman bench. It is real lightweight but for what I paid it will be used for something. The top is shot but the drawers are straight and run true.

Good score Craptain! I have the same bench but I put a 2" thick butcher block restaurant table top on it and it serves it's purpose well. I keep all of my writing utensils, razor knives, electrical connectors/soldering supplies etc in the drawers. For the price you paid, I'd say YOU ****!

Craptain, a good to for a bench like that if it's not too deep is a Formica kitchen counter top; built in back splash and a drip edge if you get the bull nose type.

Good thought. The overall quality does not warrant spending too much and I often see countertops free.

The '49 roller was gray with the Heratige oval (50's logo), but the catalog shows the oval centered on the drawer, not offset to the left like that. Too bad the sliding covers are missing.

I'd say you did good! I bought the same vise for $20 a while back and doubled my money on CL.

Couldn't wait to see if it ran. Had to swap leads for 120 volt. The drawing on the motor, it calls out blue and black wires, and after all this time they look the same. Must of got it right, it runs.The motor plate has a 49 stamped in the corner, think this is the year?

Look how large the motor is compared to the one on the newer saw, both 1 HP.

The angle and depth gauges are in great shape. Note the teeth on the bottom of the fence guide, the fence has a knob to move the fence, I never have seen these before.

CB, that 49 may be the year code.

All the 10" KS made table saws used that fence drive. They also sold rail extensions for when you added the wing extensions.

I have two of these (a decade or more apart in age) and I bolted them side by side on a single rolling stand I made. I had to modified the rail on one so it aligned with the other one, and one has a wing with the add-on extension rail so it's REALLY wide.

Nice finds! you might go at the rust on top with a single edge razor blade in a blade holder, like you would scrape glass, It does amazingly well if not etched too deeply.

Hmm, you have the blade guard mount on the back; was the guard there? (not many survived)

Outlaw, no guard, I was thrilled the fence and miter gauge was there. I have another fence system that I think I'm going to install on this one. I'll post a photo later.

Craptain, nice find on the stand. I have one and its by far the best one I've seen.
I've used it for everything except a woodworking table.

One last shot for the year . . . picked up an old tach/dwell etc. meter at the Restore for $25. It's probably worth $10 or $15, so I considered it a donation to a charitable cause. I absolutely love this thing, and it has a practical side to it as well. I still get a few older vehicles in the shop from time to time, and the dwell meter comes in handy for that. Besides, it looks damn cool on display and it has all the cords, clips, resistors and shunts inside it. Looks like it has never been used. 1962 Ford Falcon Ranchero, by the way.

Yes, but they made an ALL cast aluminum one as well.
