First sale was all free leftovers but as a found out by another guy he said it was also free last weekend and he picked over all the tool stuff so there was nothing left. I got one screwdriver, a light, some handsaw blades, and a bunch of nails. Not my best sale but all free so can't complain!

Second sale i was way in the back of the line at 42 so i thought i would get nothing but when i got in the garage was empty i guess everyone came for all the railroad collectibles? Most was overpriced but i got all the stuff for $6 2 craftsman usa ratchets, fleet ratchet, Williams socket, Armstrong socket. I put all the stuff in my jacket pocket when i was walking around and took them out to paid but when i got to the car i forgot to pay for the fleet ratchet so i ran back in to pay for it. I could of easily got it for free but it would of felt wrong!

This sale had no tools at all but i went because i saw in the pics a craftsman drill press and vice. The vice was junk but the craftsman drill press had the stand and drill and it looked really cool so i paid the $35 for it and also found a pair of crescent pliers for $1. I think i overpaid for the craftsman drill press at $35 but not sure do you guys think i overpaid?

This last sale was the overpriced one i was talking about but i found a few gems for a descent price. A pair of vice grips, usa pliers, indestro ratchet and indestro wrench. I really licked the wrench it looks really cool! There might be some good deals to be found when they do half off in the afternoon tomorrow but i am stuck working so i can't make it out!

Nice haul

Thanks. I was happy to find some things even though I got a late start today.

I think there's a word for that. Staring, stomping, studying, stepping, stinging? Ahh, nevermind. :lol_hitti

Good finds.

Great day yesterday, went to look at a Logan B200 lathe but passed as it was a project. Then ran to see a guy who had CL ads for some machinist tools. I picked up the Kalamazoo 8" abrasive cutoff saw for $150. Then he offered me this D3 Throatless Beverley Shear for $20!!!! As I was leaving I saw these Torin socket holders, 3/8ths and 1/2", .50 cents each and $1 for the magnetic holders.

Wow i found i nice little surprise going through today's finds. On the overpriced sale the pliers i picked up one of them was a snap-on. It says vacuum grip no47. They don't sell for much on ebay between $10 and $30 but this is my first snap- on tool besides i couple of random sockets so i am pretty excited about my find for $2!

Vacu-grip made pliers for SO before SO acquired them, so I often see the same pliers with either name on them.

Wow. I have one of those drill presses I bought brand new in about 1974 when I was still in high school. I think I paid about $11 for it. It was less than the $17 I paid for my Black and Decker drill which I also still have.

But no, you didn't pay too much if you like it and believe it was worth the money. The reason I've held onto mine for all these years is that it's a sturdy and useful piece.

^That sure is cool.

Well guys I should have just slept this morning instead of going out. Went to a flea market over at the VFW post and it was pretty bad. Very busy and nothing but ****.

Found some beat looking MAC pliers with good teeth for $1.

Stopped at an estate sale that advertised tools and it was pathetic. Barely anything and the woman was asking too much for junk so I left empty handed.

Final stop was the weekly flea. Picked up a nice old Williams diamond w DBE. Also found out some sad news. A regular vendor who I've bought many things from over the years died during the week from cancer.

Thanks guys, I still haven't a clue what Vise No. 2 is, but Now I want to find a Parker No. 63-1/2!

Rained a lot of the night and still drizzly (and expected to rain hard later..), so only one planned stop.

Second day; not a lot to begin with, but I found these rooting in a "junk box"

1 lb bar of SN63 solder, and a brass coat/at hook that polished up nicely A buck each:

Dentist office moved a few miles away and they were selling off the equipment. They decided to just buy new for the new location.

They were priced low and I was first there 20 mins before start. The sale staff was the dentist and her office staff.

Here's what I found at a estate sale on Friday.
CM vice, it's made in Japan, in great shape. I was joking with the lady about a discount since I had to unbolt from the bench. She gave me three rolls of stainless tie wire. I later heard a guy before me wanted it, but not if he had to remove, go figure!

Like we all say, it's the hunt as much as anything.
Listening to some of the conversations of these guys in the garage, I'm of the opinion they shouldn't be allowed around the tools.
Also picked up a CM drill bit attachment.

It is still winter, temp just doesn't show it. No sales, but I did get a pile of Craftsman 3/8" metric shallows for $10 at a pawn shop. Full set of 6 points except a 18mm, full set of 12 points except 3. Had the spare 18 in 12 point, 2 of 3 12 points filled with 6 points. Started a mixed bag rail for the womans tool storage area and spares. 52 total.

Going a bit stir crazy, being stuck in the house the last two weeks without any good sales to go to. So I decided to take the afternoon to hit up a couple of used tool shops that I normally can't get to very often. Unfortunately Saturday is the end of their stock week, so the good stuff is usually gone by then. Wednesday is the first day of the stock week and it's usually a madhouse when they first open. Both shops are tight quarters. It can be quite entertaining if you're just a spectator, but a bit annoying if you're in the scrum.

I spent $22.31 (w/tax) at the first stop in Worcester (pronounced - Woostah ) and walked out with :

Matco SDM 8P1 long Phillips screwdriver
Matco SDM 63P1 Phillips screwdriver
Matco SDM 1P1 stubby Phillips screwdriver
Craftsman 10mm combo wrench (=V=)
S-K C-12 3/8" 6pt combo wrench
Cornwell CW-1212 3/8" combo wrench
SnapOn OEX100 5/16" combo wrench (no date)

The second stop was in Waltham (we don't have a special pronunciation for this town because, well..................................it isn't worth it :lol_hitti) the stock isn't as good as the place in Worcester, but sometimes you get lucky. Not today.

I spent $14.47 w/tax for 3 pieces :

a 7" 3/8dr socket rail (12¢)
SnapOn OEX150M 15mm combo wrench (1961)
SnapOn OXI-8 1/4" midget combo wrench (1988)

Since the whole purpose of the trip was to get away from the house for a few hours, I'm counting the day as a win. :bounce:

Good finds for this time of year.

I think the craftsman sockets were a great deal.

Jake, I'm digging those Mac screwdrivers I'm gonna have to keep my eyes peeled for a couple of those, not that I need anymore screwdrivers. Lol

Went to an interesting sale today...at the house my aunt and uncle lived in when I was a kid. The folks they sold it to are in the process of downsizing and moving out. I did not buy anything but it was nice to relive some childhood memories!

Walking down memory lane, isn't it fun. My aunt passed away a few years ago. She lived in eastern Oregon. I was in the town she lived in last year so I dove down the road that she lived on. The house had been redone on at least the out side and looked very good. Last month I was tell the story to another person who I knew who lives in the town and she told me who was living in the house and I even know them. So this summer when I go to the fire look out I will make a 30 mile side trip and go see them and see what they have done with the inside.

I got lucky today and my manager let me go early and i got to go to the overpriced estate sale that was 50% off. Everything was gone already the vices, wrenches, and most the the tools! I got some good stuff tho a usa made stool, b@d hacksaw, 3 grease guns, propane torch with kit. Also got a extension cord reel made in Canada. I was really happy because i really needed one but didn't want to pay $40 plus dollars to get a new one so for $5 it was going home with me. Also i got a very good deal besides the 50% off because someone stole two of my pliers that were sitting inches away from the check out guy that was saving them for me and were spoken for. So he gave me $8 off my bill plus threw in the grease guns for free so the $20 bill went down to $12 so i am happy someone did take them!

Had to go to the recycling center today to drop of a bunch of cardboard so i went to check out there free chemicals they had out and walked away with some good stuff. Got some wd-40, cleaning chemicals, deicer, also there were two eagle medal gas cans sitting there for free too so i grabbed them up the second i saw them. I really need to check out my recycling center more often people give away a lot of good stuff some of it never even opened!

Wow, folks. What a cornucopia of finds this weekend! I think the season is fully underway!

In keeping with my "in retirement" (or as Outlaw says, my "in denial") M.O., SWMBO and I stopped in on an estate sale while on the way to something else. This was a first-day, company-run sale in Worcester (I didn't see Jake there, but he could have been--he moves like the wind). Prices were ridiculous on the slim pickings of a former machinist, but we found a few things for $16.

SWMBO found a serving tray and a blue glass flower vase (not pictured)

A worn out Disston & Sons saw (etch still evident but busted up handle--good for parts) and and unused wire brush that the sale guy thought was worth $10 all by itself. The lady at the table rolled her eyes and gave me both for two dollars.

Eifel-jawed Plierench. This last one was ridiculously priced, but I threw it on my pile 'cuz I've never seen one in person.

The parallel jaws can be re-indexed to different distances, it has a built-in cutter, and the deeply stamped text is just cool. This one's a keeper.
