Here's my finds for today.
First was a CL yard sale ad, the big clamp was in the ad photo, I love it when I'm able to get what catches my attention in the ad. It's a older Wilton, nice and straight. Some Mac wrenches, SK metric line wrenches, can't pass up the CM 1/2" breaker bar, a Huskey caulk getter, never seen one, wish I had it in the past. $ 15 for all below.
dd125f3b158c7f28c63e272a37ab31e1.jpg

Next sale was advertised as a HUGE estate sale. Wasn't really that huge, the Mac box and other stuff was already covered and they said sold, but they ( being family) I think we're having second thoughts on what they were selling. I did pretty good just the same.
Was picking up a bunch of stuff to the point I was dropping, my truck was down the block, couldn't get my bag, looking around for something to use, spotted this,
0e85fa5c883e1b9ee4395f33f7bad98b.jpg

Placed all of the below in it, and it was getting heavy.
A SO slide hammer with a handful of attachments, a like new 15" Cresent, Diamalloy 4" adjust, snips and a chain wrench. ( just need a 6 &10" to complete my set) two more c clamps, can't pass those up.
As I walk around and around multiple times, it really paid off today. They were still pulling stuff out, when I came back around, the Greenlee battery terminal crimpers jumped out at me, missing some guys hand by inches. Glad I was able to save them!
2bf190c332a386a435748f3e42dafca6.jpg

Some misc SO picks and offset screwdrivers, Ridgid tube cutter and alum. Pipe wrench.
7a1ad3dd34851c7175a6ee99e31066a9.jpg

Here's my "what is it tool" , anyone know what the pliers are for?
7a3eff9e876ed5f5493e7cd6c1ad9e49.jpg

The stainless tool caddy is really sweet. I paid $ 40 for it and all the stuff.

Took the dog for a ride into the wilds of Portland Oregon. City Liquidators is a cool business on the east bank of the river. One side of the road is all cheap knock off ****. The other side is old office furniture, oak desks, tanker desks, file cabinets, metal office shelving, lockers, hospital exam tables and morgue tables with integrated drains.

Anyway they list stuff up on Craigslist and that's where I saw these.

That's Lexi, my son's dog, that he doesn't have time for. OK I guess she's our dog.

This is a double sided swim locker. There usually are wire baskets 2 wide on both sides. The baskets are big business in the antique world and go for about 25 bucks apiece. The full set of baskets including the locker frame go for 500 to 750 bucks. The frame was $25 they had 10 of them, originally out of some school in Portland.

View media item 59023
They are riveted together and at 30" way too deep for practical purposes. My plan is to make two 15" deep shelves and pick up some baskets when I find them.

Nice Scores Guys! I thought I would have to live vicariously though your finds till my last of 5 planned stops.

I finally found 2 pair of Blue Point "Channellocks" which I believe are made by Channellock. (Side by side to my 440's these 440's are identical except for grip color) The larger pair are marked 460. $10 for both

We also picked up this test tube/bud vase rack with 2 extra tubes. -$3:

Then a last TOO, I got this, which I think is my big score for the day - A Pioneer 550 turntable from the 70's for $10 it included a spare Arm Head. This I'll Flip - the last decent Pioneer TT I sold for was for over $220... I think this one can go more.

Outlaw: I remember using a turntable like that, many, many many years ago. Love it. And you're right on value, just gotta find the right buyer.

My antique store finds for today. $5

Left this craftsman vise there. I don't have a place for one or the money to blow right now but I picked it up and it was all there.

Three ratchets and a nice SO utility toolbox $17:

P1060379.jpg

Screwdrivers (Footprint???) and hammer from England. Each item was $1.

P1060381.jpg

All this was from the free pile except for the six lathe cutting bits which were $.50/ea:

P1060380.jpg

I'm not sure what this weird thing is. My guess is that it was for draftsman to mark a bunch of equidistant points all at one time.

P1060382.jpg

A 3/4 HP 1750 and 2 HP 3450 motor for $5/ea. Real MAPP gas for $1.

I'm sitting in rehab after surgery but after hearing one of my favorite sellers is back in business after taking a few months off I had to send my brother down for me. After all the texts and pictures back and forth I ended up with this stuff. 36" breaker bar, brand new precision screwdivers, some pliers, impact universals, 1 brand new Snap On dead blow and 2 Matco hardly used Dead Blows and some misc. tools all for $200

Damn, I missed that listing. It's a bit too far out of my range for me anyways. I'm already trapped at the house for the rest of the day. I'll have to see if I can make arrangements (beg my sister for a deal) for tomorrow morning.

The two sales near me this morning were both a bust.

I won't be going, I need to stop buying tools. A new service truck is in the near future. The Chevy is getting rough. I think I will go into retirement unless a deal tempts me out.

But that pretty new truck is going to feel empty unless you stock up so you can overload it. This could be your chance.

Welcome to the bleachers, Bobcat! There's a good view of the action, the only running around you do is to the fridge for snacks, and you have a lot more money in your pocket! Also, you'll have time to work on a shtick about how you're retired, but you still just happen to show up in this thread with good deals.

Seriously though, good luck with the new wheels!

Awesome the bleachers! Now to save for the new truck, Dodge Ram 5500, Diesel, With a Maintainer service body. The crane will be the best part. The worst part is the price, approx $120k:shocking:

And the count down until I break down and go to a sale starts in...

Yeah, the boy is driving on his own now. That excuse was a good one while it lasted.

So, if you make it out to the sale in NH tomorrow, you WON'T be seeing my truck pull up behind you.

Unless, i need to make a run to Harbor Freight for something....hmmmm.

Slow day for sales today, but I got a handful of stuff from an estate sale in Vacaville. Small Craftsman ball peen hammer, Craftsman extension, Matco socket, Channellock pliers (missing grips) and a Cornwell screwdriver, $2 total. Also didn't post this one yet, but picked up this Snap On welder in Vallejo off Craigslist about 3 weeks ago for $50. The Delta drill press in the frame was also an estate sale find last summer for $100.

Finally had a good tool auction this weekend. I haven't gotten a chance to unload the car and go through everything, but I thought I'd post a few interesting things from the auction I didn't win.

First off, there was this little bench top Craftsman drill press:
WirgeEF.jpg

It sold for 30$

Then there was a floorstanding Craftsman drill press:
koHpwaw.jpg

SETXqIJ.jpg

It needed a new motor. The auctioneer said they plugged it in this morning to test it and it dimmed the lights in the pole building and smoked. It sold for 110$.

There was this Craftsman tool chest with castle:
scQ9Eb2.jpg

The drawers felt like they moved pretty good. It sold for 85$.

I found this wrench that I didn't recognize the makers mark on:
dr2OCMd.jpg

Anyone know who makes it?

There was a huge fleet of C-clamps:
dI0itA6.jpg

Most were Wilton but there was a pair of J.H. Williams C-Clamps. I didn't even know they made C-clamps.

I was sad about this one. There were these cool Mayhew chisels!
UggIkpe.jpg

I dropped out of the bidding at 25$. I'm not sure how high they went but I was not expecting anyone to even want them!

I didn't get a picture of it but there was a Craftsman 1/2HP block grinder with both shields, but in generally bad condition that went for 27$.

We were there for quite a while. From 9:30AM to about 3PM. Next weeks salebill doesn't list tools but normally this auction runs every week with lots of hayracks of tools.

Well this was a couple of weeks ago, but my dad needed to get rid of this truck since it just sat and I needed a bigger truck then the ranger cause I got a family of five now. So a 2012 F250 Lariat is now mine with all of the accessories. Oh and no estate sale this weekend for me as I got a jump start on the yard by putting 12 cubic yards of mulch down. I still got 3 more yards of mulch to go but it's snowing today some.

Bought this 96 Saturn from a buddy. It had broke the timing cover from an idler pulley breaking. Pep boys told them they didn't making that timing cover anymore so it would cost more to replace it than the car was worth. They called the local picknpull and got offered $64. They offered it to me at $65. I said deal without even seeing the car. Gave me the key and the title right then and the pep boys it was at.
I drove it up on the trailer, just no power steering or ac because the serpentine belt was off due to the broken pulley.

Looked online for salvage yards, found a timing cover for $40 shipped to my door. Went ahead and got a timing chain kit for it too.

Runs and drives for under $150. New tires, ac blows cold.

I talked SWMBO into going out to a nearby sale one town over after lunch.

Best part was learning that the sale company had to put stuff in storage, to include a bunch of vintage tools, to make room for this sale and that they'd be having another in a few weeks. I will definitely come out of "retirement" to check that one out!

Well, here's the add for Part 2 of this sale. The "bunch of vintage tools" referenced by the staff looks disappointing in the pictures. Since it's only one town over...we'll see if I go.

Yeah, I saw that ad when it was first posted (been keeping an eye on that area for it). I was disappointed when I saw the pics. Not worth the effort I need to make to get all the way out there.

I made it out to the Merrimack sale, report soon.

Great deal on a cheap beater car. I think everyone that works on cars should have a beater. Mine is a Saturn as well. One of those cars that will make parts runs when everything else is down for one reason or another, will get you to work when you need it too, won't impress anyone but you'll get there, don't have to worry about the odd scratch or door ding, costs $30 a month to insure, gets great gas mileage, and if you are fixing someone else's car, you can loan them the beater and not worry about your "nice" car getting messed up. Word of advice on that particular car - check the oil every time you put gas in. Oil consumption is a common issue with Saturns, mine burns a quart every 3k, but many people report worse. If you keep oil in it, you can get 300k out of it, but not checking the oil is how these cars got a bad reputation.

I ran out of time to go through the stuff still before preparing for Palm Sunday dinner but I did discover that I accidentally hit the wrench flats a little too hard:
9lKlPFP.jpg

However I got an almost full set of Superwrenches!
cDNEdwd.jpg

And I've finally got a "real" vise now.
ldrn1tn.jpg

3p9x9yR.jpg

I think I probably need to start hitting swap threads or something for wrenches because I've gotta have some people need to complete sets.
