Do you think I got a good buy for $15?
Figured some of you guys knew a bit about the older Craftsman drill presses so I thought I'd ask my question here. If there's a thread on GJ about them, let me know and I'll post there!
I borrowed this picture from another thread. Are the two rods, one where the pulley attaches and the one with the notches, supposed to slide or be fixed to each other? On mine, when you lower the chuck, the pulley goes down as well and bottoms out on the casting. It doesn't seem right to me, but I've never messed with one before.

There was this Craftsman tool chest with castle:

The drawers felt like they moved pretty good. It sold for 85$.

Firworks,
That castle looks pretty similar to that Army Corp. of Engineers insignia.
Great finds.

Paul, is the press large enough for 50bmg? I've got a buddy who might be interested.
Bill
Not a chance. 30-06 is close to capacity.
the shaft diameter on the press is just over 0.800"

Oh no the guy behind me is after the tools as well. There are 99% guys here. My strategy is grab first look at prices later or i won't get anything. Going to grab every ratchet and breaker bar i see then i will go for the other stuff.
It's been over an hour and we still haven't heard from Cody.
I hope we didn't lose him in the stampede.

My plans of sleeping in were crashed last night when I got a text from Merc mentioning an estate sale near me. The company running it is a good one with decent pricing and it was right around the corner so we met up over there this morning. There were lots of carry boxes, Kennedy and Craftsman cantilevers and some others but nothing really needed. I dug around long enough and finally found a Proto wrench, mostly everything was China or Taiwan, just as I was about done looking, I saw the familiar Snap On fiberglass handle on the body hammer and snatched it up. Total spent, $3.[/IMG]
Sorry guys went to a few places after the sale. The sale was mostly a bust i don't know what happened but a lot of the tools like the ratchets were missing. The guy behind me got a few because they took everything out of the chest and put it on the tables so that cost me some time. I think they sold some stuff before the sale myself even tho the guy said they didn't.

What a bummer.
I've had that happen, it *****.
Oh well, you've got another sale lined up for tomorrow don't you ?
More money to spend on that one. Better luck next time.
I've noticed a trend in my area that all the yard/garage sales start on Thursday or Friday during the day. Not sure what the idea behind it is since most people have to work during the week. Maybe they want to leave the **** for the people who come on weekends?
