So an update on the free Trailer/Cartop tent I got a few weeks ago. I finally had time and decent weather to uncover it (a chore in and of itself, as the original cover is dried, out, has some holes and needs complete replacement.), 2X as I covered it with a tarp as son as I got it home. The tent fabric, the plywood deck its on are all toast.
The "front side" (as seen on the trailer) looks great! If it were all like that, I'd be set!
The pics get steadily worse as you go. the second to last one shows the corner where the wood is completely dry rotted, and non of the wood deck parts are really good. (The wood was completely unsealed...)
Is it reparable? Sort of. it would make the repairs we did on my old Healite tent trailer fabric look minor in comparison. (I'm not sure you can get iron on patches that big...)
Mattress pads inside are also gone.
So Plan B will be so rebuild the folding deck, reuse the tent support poles as a tarp support, and setup that deck more as a camp table cooking area. The folded deck can be used for more in transit storage...
Even without the tent, this is a great size trailer for what I want it for. small, light, and should tow easily behind my 65HP puddle jumper.
