Mike I believe it's a small swage for forming the different toe caulks of horseshoes.[/

QUOTE]

Top:

Thanks for info.

You had me scrambling to find a diagram for what toe caulks on horseshoes looked like.

Never too old to learn something new!!!

Mike

Sorry I should have been more specific. The turned down tip of the shoe. They have different styles for summer / winter for traction.

Well today was quite a day. An elderly guy in the senior section of the development passed away last september and left a house full. The sister had invited my Grandparents and my family over to take whatever we wanted for Free. I thinked I did pretty good with the stuff I found.

PICS WILL BE IN MULTIPLE POSTS!:shocking:

Slow weekend for me, but I managed to get a couple small items for $10. Diamond tin snips, Proto slip joints, 3/4 npt pipe tap, and some kind of small puller.

Hey Bobcat; you ****. Does the pulley in the gray box have a shaft sticking out the bottom? I see in the drill press column a hole for it, which would make that the slow speed option. Nice pickups for sure!

Thanks Guys. If I didn't save it the local Got-Junk place would. Also the pulley is for a bandsaw or similar. No shaft or keyway. I guess I will have to look again in the basement to see if the slow speed part is there.

Outlaw - I PM'ed you back.

I'm always looking for better garage cabinets at good prices and this one popped up on CL. I was able to meet with the seller yesterday. A brand new small parts cabinet branded for SKF bearings. Just needs a knob to open and close. Maybe I can make something from an old bearing in keeping with the theme.

I had to give up on this thread, girlfriend and I moving soon, and I'm still digging through everything I got in the fall, slowly but surely...

But from what I've seen, some of you have been killing it!

Dude! Yoooooooou ****! Well done, especially for leftovers!

Got this one a few weeks ago. It was in the back almost out of sight from the main stuff being sold. I asked if it was for sale and the woman stated she would love to get it out of the way but she had to ask her husband. After we found him he stated it didn't run and had been replaced. He asked $500. We settled at $400. It needed a battery and an ignition coil. I gave it a valve job as long as I had the engine out since it already had 1000 hours. Total investment with purchase cost around $500 including maintenance parts. Way better than my John Deere riding mower.
Sorry about the photos. Light was just about gone. It's a Kubota ZG20.

You **** too, Seber! A great deal!

Hey guys do you think it is worth going to this sale next week? It has a lot of snap-on and matco tools. I think all the regulars will be there and it will be jam packed full of people so if the tools are cheap they will go quick and if they are very high i wasted my time. I am trying to cut back on huge sales now and just buy small things every now and again. I am interested in the napa cabinet, and crows feet for sure. It looks like they have a lot of snap-on and matco sockets, screwdrivers, and other tools. Should i wait in line the first day or go the half price day?

Was this guy a GJ member? His collection would have him fit right in. But, if the sale is close enough I would go the first day at minimum to see some items in person and decide if pricing on the first day is good enough. Have in mind what you would pay at top dollar for the items you like and don't go ever that by second guessing yourself. Have a plan and be satisfied you stuck with it. If you have to pass on something it will come around the next time, next sale.
Sometimes going to these is just useful to learn different tools and to learn how this sale company does business.
Good Hunting!!!

Well today's sale was a huge bust. I sold some stuff to one guy but one hour into the sale it starts pouring rain very hard. Luckily most of my stuff was inside the garage. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

Mopar tools?

I got all these tools for $10.

Snap On: 1/4" ratchet, three double socket wrenches and a 1/4"-3/8" adaptor

Mac: 3/8" extension and swivel

Plomb: two rusty wrenches, 3/8" extension, 3/8" swivel socket

Mopar branded wrenches and sockets (the majority)

I've never seen Mopar branded tools before. Who made them? What are they worth?

I got these on a trade i did with a local forum member yesterday. I traded a snap-on dead blow hammer, snap- on hammer, snap-on deep and regular 36mm sockets, matco 1/4 ratchet, Armstrong 3/4 breaker bar. I think we both ended up with a fair deal.

I got a snap on flex ratchet, matco 3/8 flex ratchet long and sort, and a mac ratchet

Also not shown a craftsman =v= metric socket set with a breaker bar but missing a socket.

Started out like this:

$40, enough for 11 feet of bench or a 5 footer and a 6 footer. Probably going to do a full 11 footer and order the 5 foot lower shelf for it. Will be blasting and painting them, may add a 4" riser too.

IMG_20160417_114650768_HDR1_zpscye5gegh.jpg

Working it's way into what I want with this:

Now the only questions is semi-gloss or gloss clear?

The mid-season State of the Thread report.

The mid-season State of the Thread report.

As we close out the first six months of this thread, I'd like to thank all the members who have contributed to this years conversations by sharing their finds. We've seen some great items found and saved so far. From small items such as pliers, screwdrivers, and wrenches, to big and heavy items such as anvils, drill presses, and lathes. We've even seen forklifts, trailers, and a car lift show up.

Along the way we've seen rare items come along, as well as the mundane. All are welcome. Each post gives the membership the opportunity to see and learn about items that they may not have had the chance to otherwise see or know about. Members have even shared online bargains from areas outside their sphere for other members to pounce on.

For myself, this thread (and it's previous incarnations) has allowed me to gloat over some of my finds when my family could care less. It has taught me about items and brands I didn't know existed. And it has cost me a lot of money for things I wouldn't have otherwise known I needed.

I look forward to seeing what you guys (and gals) turn up in the next six months.

How could we possibly top what has been recovered and put back to use so far ?
Keep reading and posting to find out.
We're not done yet ....................

Excellent Mid Season report Jake! A few words stand out to me, forklift, LOL. I hope the next six months are full of adventure and good finds for us all. Also I learned retiring from this means nothing.

Yeah, I resemble that remark....

Well done, Jake! I value this thread the same way you do--SWMBO just rolls her eyes when I show her a new wrench that arrived in the mail.

Speaking of which....

BOG Mfg Co 1820 DBE, 9/16" x 5/8", shiny, round, and beautiful. Arrived off of eBay for $4 and is my first BMC wrench.
Preliminary research says it's earlier than 1940. :-D

Well said Jake! I love this thread but unfortunately do not have as much to share. I say unfortunately but to be honest, it's kind of a blessing to have 2-3 of everything I've ever wanted from the previous few years of scores. It's to the point I rarely even go to sales anymore but I do enjoy seeing everyone else scores, tools and non-tool finds so I for one appreciate all you guys posting! Keep at it, maybe I will find a new hobby and reason to get back into it hard in the fall!

I have to say I love this thread even though I can't participate. I have less than no time and don't really have the disposable cash. It sure is fun checking out everyone elses finds though!
