Two craigslist finds today.

A Famco 3 ton arbor press for $80. This thing is huge (and heavy)

Just have to straighten out the handle a bit using my shop press. Seller picked it up at a yard sale.

And two very strong metal shelves. 36" wide. $20 each

The shelves are fixed in position. They were used to store files (paper is heavy and shelves are strong. While loading I had to stand on side of shelf unit and it didn't even flex.

I scored this Jensen Tool Kit in an EBTH auction. Can anyone identify which Jensen kit this one is? It appears to be unused and has some NOS tools that haven't been made for a number of years, and all tools were made in the USA.

Blue Frog

Jensen is owned by Stanley now. They sell electronics toolkits...most of the tools are rebranded from a variety of manufacturers.

Your vise reminds me a lot of the Columbina 9R vise I bought that had a heavily worn bronze nut in it. It turned out that the Milwaukee/Morgan Tool Company still makes a similar vise and the bronze nuts for their vise hit on my Columbian. I'm attaching some pics of that vise and a PDF of Milwaukee's parts list. No guarantee that they would fit your vise, but on the chance they did, it looks like you would need part no. 23 and 25.

SilverDeck:

Did contact and got the below response from Milwaukee, which will post below.

Milwaukee Response:

We don't have any knowledge if our parts would fit your vise, your the first person to ask that question.

From your pictures, I am going to say no, because for our part #23 nut to work it requires a screw missing some threads like our part #21.

From your pictures it appears your screw is fully threaded. Part #25 might fit, but what is under that cap is the important part.

Mike's response back to Milwaukee:

Your right, the lead screw on my WW W C. Toles #45 vise doesn't have the missing threads.

I'll try and find someone who might have pictures of whats under the cap for a WW W C Toles #45, which is fully threaded. Once we know that, maybe can locate a replacement part and still come back to Milwaukee to order a cap.

Thanks again for your help and quick response.

Mike

SHUT YOUR MOUTH !!!!!!

Did you or Bobcat see this listing ?
http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/gms/5680245289.html

I may bust my spleen resisting this one. It could be expensive.

:lol_hitti

Meh. I'll be upstate on Saturday, and this one isn't "on the way".

This one is, though :evil

JAKE - That guy is a real stickler. I've tried to deal with him on some equipment he had and he would not budge on price.

BB - I'd love to go to that sale but I don't feel like spending the gas money to get up there.

So no going to sales for me this weekend. I need to find a set of Fisher Push Plates (7169) for my truck. My boss has a 9 foot plow I can use so I want to do some plowing this winter!

Only thing of interest to the general population is probably the Craftsman 1/4 drill with a 1948 data plate. Post-war, but too danged close to leave it behind.

This box and everything inside is interwar. The box is effing indestructible. See the enclosed pins on the front? For strapping to a horse. There's a pair on ends/sides, too. I doubt it's a complete kit. I will go through it and save what looks military and integral.

Was out of the house at 7:30 and home by 9:30. First and second houses advertised as all kinds of tools......... Nope ! well at least what I consider tools.

Third house looked familiar when I google earthed it so I had hope since I had done well previously at the house. Got to that sale 5 minutes before it opened at 9:00, same house. 40'ish woman and her daughters and her dad and mom where there also. Come to find out dad was a retired maintenance/trades guy at a local chemical plant so he had brought lots of tools over. Man I love those retired plant maintenance/trades type guys. Those guys don't typically seem to have much high priced Snappy stuff but plenty of quality industrial brands.

Anyways,

Armstrong metric deep offset box wrenches $10

IMG_0838_zpsbe3ic1p7.jpg

Armstrong metric shorty's and Bluegrass DBE $5

IMG_0840_zpspnhvrw5h.jpg

Practically unused Proto SAE ASD wrench set in chrome. Price was unmarked and the dad was still running around putting up sale signs so the mom didn't know what to charge me. So I told her no problem we can wait for him to come back, not looking to take advantage of anyone. So he shows up shortly and says hows $50 sound ?.......Sold !

Craigslist find for $50

aabedcffde59ea0ef428d5deedd8688e.jpg

3/4" stencil machine

We needed it for work to stencils ladders

And it was only about 10 mins away.

Didn't feed when I got it but a squirt of wd40 and working roller back and forth and a few mins later it was fine.

I got a couple of nice items today.

First, of interest probably to Pvt Lugnuts, is a set of nut drivers - 3/16" through 9/16".

Then three whatamacallits - I don't have a clue!

Finally, something I've been on the lookout for some time - 36" kraft paper with holder and cutter.

I'd love to happen across a deal like that. I wouldn't be able to get a crisp $50 out of my wallet fast enough.

Well found the set of push plates I needed/wanted. Cost me nothing but the time laying on my bad back unbolting them from the junker my buddy had. It was a lot better knowing I didn't have to shell out $550 for a new set. Now to order the hardware!

That wooden box is interesting. The only time I've seen that type of latch has been on US Army WWI wooden machine gun ammo boxes. What I think you've got there is possibly an armorer's tool and parts box.

Yup sometimes you can't get your wallet out quick enough and make a getaway. I had to gobble them up quick and set them aside. An older gentlemen had just un-rolled them but didn't recognize Proto as anything special so he moved on to some Craftsman stuff. I love when they have Craftsman stuff too because it keeps a lot of folks occupied and away from the stuff I look for.

Went to a pawn shop I had not been to before in Woodburn, Oregon and checked it out. Really unorganized shop with tools all over mixed in with other kinds of items. Scored all this for $52. Not really a suckage deal but still fun to look. I did score the 1/2 pictured ratchet which I am sure is plvmb but it is not marked at all except for a tiny letter u by the head?? Looks just like my wf 3/8dr ratchet with not markings?? It needs a new selector so if someone has one, I would be willing to buy it. Scored a mix of craftsman, match, sk, proto and plvmb:beer:

Very nice complete set, Blue Frog, and even the roll-up is in great shape. The weave of the canvas and the hardware says 1950's and so do the finish and handles on those WALDEN drivers. Nice find!

Very good eye, ttpete. When I dumped the tools out I could see that the box had thin uniform slots for partitions where the magazines went. It's a French Benet Mercie MG ammo box, used also for a short time by the USMC. If you're interested in a closer look, I plan to post more pictures in the GJ Toolboxes thread on the Vintage board shortly.

yeah I needed one, cant find my snap on set.
dont know why it says $8.00
He did counter my $6.00 offer with $8.00, I countered with $7.00.
He said OK.
Of course I found my snap on line wrenches, that's the way it always goes.
Oh well. The Mac can go in the cars tool bag.
