If you post that on the "Spreading the Bonney Addiction" thread, I predict you will have an offer by PM in short time. That's an early one, with the patent number on it, and very good condition compared to what I've seen. I looked at a nearly identical one today at the flea market, but it did not have "Bonney" on it. I personally think Stanley made them for a number of other manufacturers, including Bonney.
Stanley owned License 1.

Wrench: I LOVE your big old tools and you did an amazing job on all of your generators. WELL DONE.

Jeff: can you make a key for almost any lock?

All: mostly doll clothes and furniture at the few sales i stopped at. i didn't have much time and not anything planned so wasn't expecting much though.

hope you all have had a great weekend.

No it would depend on the lock.

Great find. (Shape looks vaguely like the head of the alien in Alien!) I'd love to see a shot of the tech data label.

its actually a patent list

Found a Scag SW48 that had a blown motor. The owner tried replacing the 14hp Kawasaki with a newer 17hp Kawasaki. He had it bolted to the mower and the pulley's taken care of. He could not figure out the throttle, choke, PTO and electrical connections. I took it home for $500.

Small anvil was 5$ at one sale. Looks to be in great shape, but it will need a good cleaning. It's got everything but the kitchen sink stuck to it. Can't see any maker's mark on it but hoping there is one underneath the (many) layers of crud.

14" Ridgid and Will screwdriver fo 2.25$ at another sale.

Got the anvil (mostly) cleaned up finally. Turned out great, other than I still have no clue who made it. Only clue I've found, is a 4 cast in the front of it.

Hmmmm, unlike most anvils that size, yours has a top plate and it looks like its welded at the waist, which is how they make Trenton and other top qualty anvils. You will get good $$ for that one..I'd love one like that for my bench. Pm me if you are planning on moving it.

Had a good day at the flea market. I found a good variety of stuff to add to the collection, and some stuff for daily use.
First is a random box of stuff I picked from one sellers pile of auction box lots.

Second stop netted this Duplex

Contents on the duplex box, mostly hex drive sockets and old DOE wrenches but there were a few good square drive as well.

Art Metal barrister bookcase $60

Here are my finds from two sales last week.

The first picture was from a professionally run estate sale, which means no great deals, but good stuff that caught my eye. $19 total

The next day my sons and I stopped at a garage sale where the 50 years of garage accumulation was spread out all over the yard...my kind of sale! No organization, no marked prices, and no telling what you can find!

Day 1: $25
Stanley Router, Misc wrenches and hooks and chains, metal # stamps, Lufkin tape, hose spigot tops that I will use for cabinet door handles, set of aluminum numbers, and other assorted odds and ends.
Photo%20Sep%2010%201%2027%2051%20PM_zps0jl5tn9x.jpg

Day 2: $7
Stanley drill that needs a little TLC, misc Hubbell electrical covers and switches and outlets, construction warning light, the rest of the aluminum numbers
Photo%20Sep%2011%201%2047%2048%20PM_zpsbbyeytjg.jpg

My sons also used their charm to get 4 baseballs and a couple old deer antlers for free. The baseballs were put into immediate use in the back yard and the antlers went to our dog.

JWW: i love those old Lyon made parts bins and they come in handy. you also didn't pay too much cause they are a lot more around here. good to see you posting again and if you want to check out the PNW thread in free parking you might like to meet a few of your neighbors or at least some of the guys in this part of the world.

TIM: i thought that little anvil would spiff up nicely. WELL DONE

While I would undoubtedly break it within a few weeks, I would love to have one of those bookcases in my garage to display some stuff even though I am running out of room to put stuff as it is. Time to pack up and move to a bigger garage.

A Wilton vise like that popped up on Kijiji a few hours ago, tempted to go pick it up, actually it's the first Wilton of any kind I've seen for sale locally.

Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with it myself. Still a bit of cleaning to do, but the wire cup on my grinder is on its last legs so I'll need to replace it before finishing up. I don't do a lot of metal work, but this little anvil should serve my banging needs for a while.

I am torn on the bookcase as well. I bought it, thinking it would be a fun way to display some old tools and collectibles out in my shop, protected from the dust and debris. But at 16'x20', my shop is filling up incredibly fast. If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know.

I will have to post the build thread for the woodworking bench I attached it to, but I have been very happy with the vice. It is incredibly strong, has the quick release loosening lever, and the pop-up bench dog. I figured with a name like Wilton, I couldn't go wrong.

Just bought this for $60 it measures 35 inches wide,50 inches tall and made of fir. I might use it for tool storage. Any ideas what you might use it for?

6.875: i'd certainly use that for tool storage or more likely nuts, bolts and parts, but your call. you might want to post it on this thread and while you are there take a gander at some of the other cabinets I (we) use for our tool and parts storage. this one is wood cabinets and there is also a metal cabinet thread in the vintage tool section you might like and get more ideas.

That's gorgeous, or at least my imagination says so. It's actually a little blurry. Is it oak, does it have iron pulls or are they brass?

I would use it to store dead iPhones. Maybe some extra bags of coffee.

I would use it for a parts organizer... vise parts, plane parts, spare sockets collected while waiting on the set to be completed. Right now is use dozens of coffee cans ,buckets and milk crates . I could separate by brand with one of those!. I always keep an eye out for them and have seen plenty but they always sell around here in the hundreds...:dunno:

Pic 1 and 2: I helped a friend with her garage sale Friday-Saturday so I didn't go to any sales. She did give me this lamp made out of a howitzer shell.

Pic 3: Sunday I went to a sale with a lot of stuff but didn't find much. $20 for well pulley, belt drive pulley, old stove to repurpose as a plant stand and a receiver hitch.

Pic 4, 5, 6 and 7: After that went to a local flea market and spent $33 for the Wilton 344 Powr Arm, car wash sign, acft stuck screw remover (Johnson Bar) in lower left corner of the pic, unusual red vise with swivels on the dynamic jaw for odd shaped objects, Craftsman Crown label box for an unknown tool, 2 practically new small Snap On screwdrivers, 4 sheave step pulley, Proto retaining ring pliers and a new Norton 7" flap disc.

Hi everyone, I've been more of a lurker here and not so much a poster. I'm an HVAC technician by day and a deal hunter by genetics (my parents & grandparents are so cheap...I mean frugal*). I only found this wonderful forum back in March of this year. I didn't think there were so many folks who love tools just because. Good to know I wasn't alone all this time! Anyhow, since the intro has been taken care of, time for some 'purdy pitchers'.

I'll start with my curb find, which happened on Sunday evening. While organizing some new acquisitions of mine (later on, be patient) the best cook on the planet (mom), told me to check out the free desk down the block. I'm not a dumpster diver or a curb bandit so I prepared myself to waste 10 mins I could have spent organizing my new tools and made the trek which was almost a the length of a city block one way. I see the brown desk sitting there with the "Free Desk" sign taped to it. I normally don't even bat an eye when it comes to roadside furniture. Most everything here lately looks like the goodwill rejected it, but this was different. It wasn't particle board with printed laminate, no sir. It was solid, really solid. And heavy, this thing made me hurt a few times. I ran and grabbed the only thing I had that could substitute for a hand truck, my Brute trash can dolly! Which ended up not making it, sadly. The neighbor came to the rescue with a Milwaukee hand truck after he watched the USA Kids destroy some pressboard furniture earlier. Reuio

Totally my bad, I munched out on some Bojangles and briefly passed out in the car, lol. Behold the Leopold Executive Desk, after some research, it was made between 1937-1965 according to the style of name plate used. I'll post more info later.

@duct_dummy: Very nice wood desk, a great start for a hobby bench! Or just clean it up for the office.

It really is a fine piece of furniture. Every drawer is the full depth of the desk approximately 34 inches. It's definitely the type of desk that eats stuff. It will be residing in the corner of my dining room, because unfortunately there are only two options keep it in the dining room or sell it because my garage is not protected from climate conditions and I would really hate to see the desk rot away. I like it a bit too much to sell it.

My next question is for you all that know a little about antique furniture. My plan is to clean it up with mild soap and water, no sanding, no staining, just a good cleaning to remove the grime. Is that the best route to take if preserving the value is my main concern? You can see the veneer is breaking off and cracking on the front, any suggestions? Lastly, the original drawer pulls are missing, what is the best way to go about obtaining the correct, period drawer pulls? I have a very rough idea of what it's worth in its current state, any other opinions on the value?

Trash or Treasure?

Fellas -

Back in the Balkans for work. This time in Skopje, Macedonia. Had a few meetings this morning and then hit the local bazaar/market area. Picked up several items that caught my eye. Curious to hear if anyone is familiar with any of these and knows anything about value.

Here's the entire haul. Total cost was $60. Stayed away from the larger items (at least for now) since it all has to make it in my suitcase for the trip home.

This beauty is said to be a sort of headlight for an early 1900's motorcycle. I guess that's a fuel reservoir on the bottom; maybe kerosene? It was $25. EDIT - found one (German Hackel Carbide Bicycle Headlight) on eBay for $300 so maybe I did ok - http://www.ebay.com/itm/EARLY-ANTIQUE-GERMAN-HACKEL-CARBIDE-BICYCLE-HEADLIGHT-/300667163123

This little fella set me back $20. It's said to be a oil reservoir; holding lubricating oil for rifles in WWI and WWII. Guy claimed it was rare because it was a dual reservoir. EDIT: Yep. From Yugoslavia (makes sense, since I'm in the former Yugoslavia), dual reservoir was likely oil on one side and solvent on the other. Scroll down here to see one - http://browningmgs.com/OilBottles/OB.htm

And this Bauer toolbox - marked 50 Jahre on top - looks like it was for a German bicycle named....wait for it....the Bauer 50 Jahre! It came with a few knickknacks; not sure what was original to the kit. My Google-fu is weak on these items.

From the toolbox - metal folding ruler.

And a spanner and open end wrench; guessing both of these came with the box.

And a tape measure.

Anyone familiar with any of this?

Scott

Greetings from Poland.
That tape measure is a little treasure i think. I`ve never see it in our country. PZO means Polish Optical Factory in Warsaw. It can be produced maybe somewhere in 1960s.

The box - stenciled “U.S. BOX, TOOL GRINDER" - is empty, but it has the original packing list under the lid. 1943 Corps of Engineers. Compartments for a 6-inch bench grinder and related tools. On top of the box is a Millers Falls 1934B hacksaw, Crescent 1936-10 barbed-wire fence pliers, Utica 506 <><><> water pump pliers, RED DEVIL No. 23 USA turret-head glass cutter, Plomb 215 brake spring pliers, and an unmarked spoon.

In front of the box are various DBEs (Williams, Bonney), a Duro 8099 3/4-inch drive 300 ft lbs torque wrench, a couple Walden sockets, a New Britain sliding tee bar, and an unmarked axle rethreading die 5/8 to 1-1/8 N.F. threads.

The lathing hatchet is marked [PLUMB] on the cheek, ‘PLUMB Hickory’ on the original handle, and "3025" on the **** end of the handle.

Everything is wartime or older, except the DURO torque indicator.

I got tagged to work tomorrow so I made a point to hit a pair of sales on the way home this evening. Lots of sloppy seconds ... really picked over but still managed a few items for and even $40. $20 on a pretty cool GE box full of 77 TV/ Radio tubes and test equipment. I have no idea on the value of something like this but I liked the box more than the twenty spot in my wallet so it came home with me. Every thing else was from one sale . I put a pile together and worked a deal out for another $20. Here's what I put together;

Williams chain wrench
Butane heater
old Kmart creeper
Cee Tee Slip joint pliers
Bernard Parallel pliers/cutters
Old gate latch
Plumb bob
old Disston hand saw
Sharpening stone
tack puller
Sm Craftsman C- clamp
